As someone who used to travel the world for work from Australia in economy mostly I must admit I'm a bit jealous. Flying on such long flights regularly and having to be processed with the masses burned me out after a few years. Flying business makes life so much easier, first must be mint.
@@thenullco you may be right. I did toss up whether to use jealousy or envious. Either way having had to spend many hours in economy I wish I could've done it the way Kym does.
You must not have been very important to travel the world and not get a business class ticket, never heard that before for a flight longer than 8 hours.
I never cease to be amazed at how far away Australia & New Zealand are from the rest of the world. Damn, you guys are really on the other side of the world!
As a frequent international traveler I appreciate both the joys and the frustrations. You handle these issues with good spirits and patience - I try to do the same, but sometimes my patience gets lost.
I love seeing Kym be the guinea pig testing out the best and easiest ways to travel for all of us who sit home and never go anywhere. You're beating them at their own game with those bag trackers, though. The airlines should provide trackers for all first & business class luggage. It probably wouldn't cost much compared to all the expensive liquor and other perks. Nice video!
As an avid F1 fan for 30 odd years, I love seeing your travel log videos kym. Thank you, it`s great seeing what your daily busy life is like. Keep up the great work
Thanks for the video Mate! As an Australian who was based in HK for many years and traveled Asia for work every week I appreciate the little things that make life easier (such as business)…. I must say - I have never left Changi business class and checed into the Shangri-La for 7 hours…. Thats a treat! But then again you are not a big drinker….. So wouldnt have taken advantage of the lounge like someone who guzzles free booze like its free booze!
Hi Kym i came across your video, and i must say it is with joy to watch. Thnx you for showing us things we hope one day to experience. Good luck with your next video. Cheers
Another great travel video. I’ll let the others “ooh” and “ahh” over the wives and girlfriends - I’m here for the aircraft and lounges. Thanks for another great vicarious trip - I can’t wait to enjoy that fondue in Zurich someday. Great shot of the track on the approach to Schipol!
When you never see your bag again, that is lost. When you get reunited with it, that is misplaced. And... all's well that ends well. Thanks for your, always, informative/interesting/fun content.
12 years ago I discovered a handy life hack. I just FedEx my suitcase(s) to my destination. I only have a simple backpack with the things I actually need like wallet, papers, laptop and food. Many hotels have an option to set luggage aside it you inform them. Some charge a small fee if they need to safeguard it over 24 hours, never lost a suitcase since. Depending on how much luggage you have, it might even save you some money as airlines love to charge you for everything... I did flew a few times first class, but in general I'm more than happy with business class...
Air Baltic were the launch customer for the A220, it was an Air Baltic aircraft that was brought out to Australia for Qantas to checkout and again to announce they had ordered them for QantasLink.
Another good video kym swiss air are very good travelled with them a lot in the 70s and 80s have relatives in Switzerland but only uk to Switzerland love to try their first class one day
Love the videos Kym and I miss Perth. Moved to perth in 2002 and relocated back to the UK in 2012 buy the Australian company i still work with. I get to fly around the globe and use Priority pass which is a bit hit and miss. Istanbul is a great airport and the Turkish Airlines Business lounge is a favourite. Please could you indicate what locator you are using as i've lost more bags than i can remember.
Hello Kym, you may have a good reason for taking the route you did ..but really only two flights would be necessary. Saves time and there's less chance of checked baggage going astray.
You a trooper my friend. I am trying to do one F1 race a year. I am American and i have been to the Mexico, US, Monaco, Barcelona GPs so far. I would LOVE to go to the Australian and Singapore GPs. Bloody hell, i just don't think i can handle the commutes! So on to Monza or Silverstone in 2024!
You've spoken about using those air tags to track your bags so many times. I'm convinced fully now... Heading to Amazon now to get some for my next journey.
Perth to Amsterdam.. quite a distance to cover and glad the suitcase mystery was solved. Longest travel I did was from Bali via Djakarta- Singapore, Karachi, Zurich to home.. but all economy class and no overnight stay anywhere in between just long waiting hours at airports with the exception of Singapore where we were allowed into the city for the day.. That was a very long time ago btw! 1980.. but oh.. seeing the satay!! remembering the delicious foods out there in both Indonesia and the day in Singapore!!! Oh I do it home made often anyway, as I have Indonesian blood lol
I remember flying quite often a number of decades ago. I never would have imagined getting on board wearing anything but a suit and tie. The same was true in the upscale lounges. People had more class and good taste. Respect was accompanied with proper attire. What happened?
LOL! The wrong time on the phone is epic. I've had that happen on a small scale and it's always annoying. I'm shocked you check a bag but I guess if you're traveling by yourself and need to have the camera gear in your carry then on the clothes have to go somewhere. I'm using to traveling with my family where we can spread the bodies and lenses around our various carry on luggage.
The Valley Wing is where you should stay at the Shangri La in Singapore - own entrance , super large rooms, loads of freebies. Garden Wing is also very good - tropical feel with balconies
Happy to see my workplace - airBaltic on your video. Perhaps will share this with the marketing team :D Some of our aircrafts are used on some LX routes (not codeshare).
reason you flying airBaltic instead of Swiss is that Swiss rented several A220 (Bombardier C-Series) from airBaltic to operate for Swiss, because Swiss got some problems with their A220's and don't have enough that can fly.
Hi from NZ ! Whats the bag tracking app you have to keep tabs on your luggage ??? See you at the Singapore F1 ! I'll say Hi.... that will be odd lol !!! Also love your vids very entertaining!!!
Kym, how do you find the time to edit these videos? They’re such high quality and I’d imagine you are constantly busy once you reach your location. Thanks for the vids!
I’m interested to know why you didn’t choose SIA from SIN to AMS direct? I’m interested because I’m thinking of doing that route next time rather than mucking about through LHR? Tony D
Some Airlines do have Orange color 1st Class Luggage Tags so your luggage gets to the Carousel 1st. You just need to fly with better Airlines. Just like most things Dutch, Amsterdam airport is notorious with being one of the most dysfunctional in the world. Almost worst than Rome where the workers take 3 hour lunch break.
Geeze Kym. 38hrs and your going to do some work. I flew Perth to Athens last year. Even though in BC and took a couple of sleeping pills i couldnt sleep. By tge time i arrived i was just about delirous and i checking in to my hotel they were asking my name and it was like they were speaking Japanese. I just cant sleep on planes. A tip for you. Dont fly Malaysian out of Perth in BC. Did it last week. Old 737 with no padding in the seat. People were seriously complaining. Was not a pleasant flight at all.
I've noticed this before with your flight videos you seem to take longer than necessary to get from A to B. While watching this I've done a quick search and found Singapore Airlines 1 stop and only 20 hours duration to Schiphol. So is the longer journey personal choice?
