This LMMS series has been absolutely amazing. I thought Cubician's series on LMMS was solid but this is some next level stuff right here. I honestly feel like your videos are the absolute best resource for learning LMMS on the entire Internet. Can't wait to start watching your Kdenlive video series after this.
this man is the goat, he changed my entire mindest about not wanting to learn lmms cuz it looked too complicated but it's actually so simple and he showed me this.
How would I solo a shaker for a short period of the song and then add back all the other instruments like just solo the shaker and the melody but get rid of all the other stuff like the bussdrum hi hat etc at a certain point of the song to kinda give it a build up idk if im explaining this right.
Thank you! I always avoided this because I didn't know how to do it without messing up or even making it sound. Now thanks to you I know how to do it and I no longer call it "the volume going up and down thingy" 😁
I have messed around with LMMS for quite some time, and today I decided to try some of the features you mentioned in the piano roll. I just discovered something really cool... Not only can it write cords, but if you hold down Shift while a chord is selected, LMMS will automatically create an arpeggio using the chord notes.
Been watching the series on LMMS and you are a life saver! Music production was so intimidating i quit after 20 mins, and your videos have me feeling like I can actually do this. Thank you for the clarity and taking the time to help people like me learn to produce music. I hope you feel better knowing you have changed my whole mindset and are the reason I will be making music.
i pretty like that your tutorials are staights forward to the informatives parts, actually learning something then getting sleepy by informations that makes just non-sens xD good job man. simple, perfect.
I've been using the program for close to a year by this point and always slacked on learning this function because I thought it was complicated, but it's not at all, after all. Thanks a bunch for the concise explanation :)
I really wish I had found this tutorial series sooner! So much knowledge being passed around! Can't wait to start my music course again now that I know what some of these things do.
Great series! There's so much to see in the demo song demoed at the end. I would suggest showing how to determine which tracks are attached to the which elements.
Yes, right click on the volume know of the the track and select 'connect to controller'. You could also map the track to its own channel and do it that way.
perfect, exactly what i was looking for! even better than that - i see i could be doing more than i planned to! was looking for a way to change pitch and volume of individual tracks over time, but looks like i could be changing absolutely everything in the same way?!
No automation for velocity? I'm trying to make piano covers which is going good except that at some point it would be useful to be able to change the velocity like this. Would be kind of annoying to edit each note over time, though from what I've heard it's not a feature?
I have done a lot of shit in my life. The only good thing i have done is deciding to go through these series from the beginning to the end. Till two days back I was like a blind man in a dark room :)
i'm searching this into the whole internet, imma ask it even to you, is there a way to fade out an individual note? i need to fade a note onto another, to try and give the whole melody a more natural sound, instead of leaving the cuts between eatch note and another, pls tell me there's a way
hi thanxx for tutoring. I have a problem though. I click on the automation track, it opens but i can't enter any sound in. Do I have to drag a sound from somewhere else??
How do you link a single track in sole fx mix bar? Like, I dont want to touch the master volume on fx mixer, I only need to automate one of the tracks, I know about adding more fxs but I dont know how to connect them to one track, theres this send thing but it doesnt do anything...
Press ctrl, press on volume knob of instrument and drag to automation, like on 4:23 Or set FX of instrument and drag that FX to automation. Any slider or knob can be linked to an automation track.
You have to doubleclick on the Instrument you want to apply the effect to (opens the general settings). Then under the FX tab you are able to apply the same effects as in the FX mixer but only to this instrument. Then you just bind them to the automation track.
this tutorial are amazing thank you for this awsome tutorials i was begginer just starting to make music i dont what keys are in piano what is c4 ,c5 and stuff
thank you so much! is there a way to set the automation track to only effect one section? edit: nvm i figured that out pretty fast! edit 2: my dumbass did it once and already forgot how to do it again. whyyy. edit 476: my stupid forgetful ass keeps having to come back to this tutorial like twice a day,, so thank you for this!!

Thanks, that really great to hear. Best of luck on your future projects!
This was super helpful. So glad I took the time to look up a tutorial rather than try to figure it out myself.

Oooooh thanx buddy, av been searching for how to do this effect my entire life! Be blessed abundantly. 👍👍👍
Finally found what I was looking for, I've been finding this cause I was lost when I stumbled that track.
Great series! There's so much to see in the demo song demoed at the end. I would suggest showing how to determine which tracks are attached to the which elements.
So this is what the Automation track does? I was curious what else it can do. Neat.
After watching this video, I feel much more capable when using Lmms
Your tutorials are the best men !
Thanks!
Great video, amazing, can we link the same automation track to more than 2 effects?
i very enjoy watching these tutorials:)
How do you attach an automation track to a single instrument?
MAGIC! thank you! Love your videos.
is there any way of making the automation track control the volume of a single track?
Yes, right click on the volume know of the the track and select 'connect to controller'. You could also map the track to its own channel and do it that way.
your explanation is too good.
that song that you made is sick
Your tutorials are great, thank you!
What if i have 2 melodies but i just want to apply the automation track to one of them?
Split the melodies into 2 tracks
Thank you very much, sir! Great video!
You're welcome, Doug!
@TJ FREE Can u explain (if you know how to do) how to apply the automation track to a single component in the song editor? pls :)

i wonder, can you do edm in automation? like the weird wavy effect in edm.
I have done a lot of shit in my life. The only good thing i have done is deciding to go through these series from the beginning to the end. Till two days back I was like a blind man in a dark room :)
For some reason I can't move the channel fx volume thingy to the automation. It keeps on showing a little option lists but it wouldn't move.
I need to know how to do the automation effect on one track on the song like the beat and keep the track the same volume
Volume controls per track should be on the double click items of each track.
wow thanks man!
I can't use Ctrl to drag the FX to the automation track ?? help
This is F'ing awesome thanks! ^_^
Is there anyway to connect an automation track to a controller other than dragging and dropping it?
i cant drag it in lmms with my laptop, is there are way to put the volume into the animation track without draging??
I only want to automate one track and not the master volume. How do I do this?
Nice tutorial! Is there a way to connect an automation track with the pitch controller?
Yes, any slider or knob can be linked to an automation track. Good luck!
Kool! Thanks

That is still helpful in 2021.
hi thanxx for tutoring. I have a problem though. I click on the automation track, it opens but i can't enter any sound in. Do I have to drag a sound from somewhere else??
Well explained. Thank you
How i do Control only the Base line?
How can I change the bpm on different basslines?
THANKS I LEARN IT.
The problem I'm having is using automation on my vst plugins, for some reason it won't drag over to the track.
is there any way to automate third party plug-ins in lmms??

How to drag automation track to up
Thank you so much bro you saved me
Thanks you so much!!
Thanks this was very helpful!
But I don’t want to fade the whole song I just want to fade one type of instrument
Press ctrl, press on volume knob of instrument and drag to automation, like on 4:23
Or set FX of instrument and drag that FX to automation.
Any slider or knob can be linked to an automation track.
@@acerlmt thank you so much
i still don't understand how to automate one track at a time...I just need to control the pitch on a guitar for a fret sliding effect
You have to doubleclick on the Instrument you want to apply the effect to (opens the general settings). Then under the FX tab you are able to apply the same effects as in the FX mixer but only to this instrument. Then you just bind them to the automation track.

Finn Johnson did you find the answer?
Yes, you have to doubleclick on the Instrument you want to apply the effect to (opens the general settings). Then under the FX tab you are able to apply the same effects as in the FX mixer but only to this instrument. Then you just bind them to the automation track.
