This version of Phantom of the Opera is the best. They left out some important scenes in this video, you can find a whole version on RUclips. I've never sobbed so hard at a movie. I keep coming back to watch this. I love how sweet and charming they made Eric. I really wished Philippe would fall down a sewer. It actually seems more like lust with Philippe. Eric actually loved her.
Same, and to fill the void that is about the Phantom Of The Opera Leaving Broadway 😭😭 soon as I hear that I have been trying to deep search anything new/old i didn't know before.. 😭 I have been a die-hard fan for 11yrs aka when i was 5.
For the record, (since some people are confused/asking why the beginning is cut off, etc.) these appear to just be the scenes including the actress Teri Polo, hence the video title "Teri Polo: 'The Phantom of the Opera'TV Miniseries." The whole thing (which can be found on RUclips in 21 ten minute increments) was a few hours long, at least. Look for the whole thing if you're confused. :)
He was more probably affected by porphyria, which is genetically passed on. Studies were published at the time and Leroux read about them and got inspired to create the Phantom.
Who... who on Earth would make something like that...? That is the saddest bloody thing I've ever seen in my life. Seriously - they piled on the tragedy and almost neutralised the madness in Erik... He's definately the Beast in this rendition and not, you know, a beast. How is one supposed to recover from that ending?? I'm so glad I've finally seen this version, it was definately not what I'd expected. I do have issues with it, but, my goodness, did it break my heart. I can't stop torturing myself by thinking about it. Charles Dance was a magnificent Phantom, a very unique kind that I don't believe was really done anywhere else. Goshdarn it. I love how key a part the operas played in the soundtrack - again, done very uniquely. I also like how truly young Christine and Raoul were - though the latter was a special kind of punchable, goodness gracious. Still on the fence about the whole mommy issues backstory - but then again, it served its purpose, alright. In general, I think this adaptation shows a lot of respect, research, thought and love put into it, and that's what makes it worthwhile in the end.
Cationna Especially Music of The Night. But he looks like a spoiled child in All I Ask You Reprise and Final Lair. ALW Phantom is really a difficult role to portray, too much emotions rollercoaster there.
We recorded this when it came on TV and I watched it over and over. I read the book. I think this is the best version, far better than the Broadway musical.
Wow I remember this , now having watched the whole thing on another sight I remember watching it when I was about 15, its the reason I know the Phantoms name is Erik. I love Dance's Phantom he really was good in this part and this was a really great Miniseries.
I love this movie so much I bought it off Amazon to add to my collection of the phantom movies Charles Dance is such an amazing singer I love him as Erik and Terri Polo has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard
Charles Dance is great at being the Phantom, just like Robert Englund and Gerard Butler. This version is a beautiful masterpiece. I know he would be angry, but to me, Charles Dance's Phantom is gentle.
This was my first experience watching this. I will say, having Erik die made my heart break less than in the musical/2004 movie. This man was so calm and so caring. He rescued Christine when she needed it. Philippe just kinda took her and then they had sex, of course. Definitely not love.
+YatzSliversword yes! I wish he nad more singing lines in the miniseries... I guess Garino was an opera singer, like Michele Lagrange, who sung Christine's part here.
+Jenny Traylor I don't think it was budget, but as in the musical by Yeston and Kopit, hit was never shown either. Plus, the best distortion is the one we think up of ourselves.
+Garradorable1 I think I was wrong regarding my above comment. The breaks look like movie clips compiled into a full- length movie. This reminds me of some animated movies that are made from video game cut scenes.
No problem! Crazy thing is, I didn't even have to check the time stamps you mentioned -- I've watched it so many times over 2.5 decades that I knew which songs you meant ;) it's so cool now with the Internet to be able to know the songs and lyrics! I must have garbled them so bad as a child singing along hahahaha!
BRO in the 2011 Sequel (Love Never Dies) SPOILER ALERT 👀👀👀 This is sad 😭😭😭 I wouldn't go to to the Vicount -idk how to spell it- but i would stay with Erik ❤️😭 Christine is shot by Meg, Christine made a promise to never tell Gustave (their son) that Erik is his real father... instead of Raoul. Christine died I cried but THIS i cried even more 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I was OBSESSED with this movie as a kid. Now finding on RUclips 30 years later is so nostalgic
Charles Dance was a wonderful Phantom so handsome so well mannered so charming and kind. Now thats the kind of Phantom i love so much
indeed
mine too
YES
He reminds me of Matt Cammelle.
This is indeed one of the nicer looking Phantoms! Yes, he’s very handsome! Very sweet!

Literally lol.
"Hat, do you think? Formal touch? Hm? Yes, I think so too."
Oh my gosh he is SO charming here! Gimme!
I should really be asleep right now... NEH I'm gonna stay up and binge watch phantom clips
so me rn
same here

I love it so much !♡ The scene he is showing her his face is so sad. But the and ... i cry !!♡ My angel of music is dying 😭
Yes.....
And I cry in this scene....
I love so much this version!

+SMiaVS VS , Thank you. After a few scenes, I was beginning to wonder.
where can we even watch the full vid? Without having to sign up for some free trail
This is wonderful movie, Charles Dance is perfection.
Young Teri Polo is so tormentingly beautiful
When I heard him sing a lullaby, that also put me to sleep every night. I'll never forget that part. -Bernay E. Hanson.
Gid bless charles dance and teri polo, theyre just fantastic
Someone just kill me... I cant live without Erik... Oh my god...
yass gurl OMFG, I cried so hard when watching this movie! :(
+InfiniteDreamer
So I was not alone. Poor Erik. His deformity came from the poison that his mother drank during the pregnancy.
He was more probably affected by porphyria, which is genetically passed on. Studies were published at the time and Leroux read about them and got inspired to create the Phantom.
Luinmir Avafaila
I don't think that's the case here. His mother was drinking poisons to abort him during the pregnancy.
Oh well. They clearly changed much of the story. (I admit I skipped many parts)
Oh my god, I love Teri Polo❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ always have, always will❤❤❤❤
Who... who on Earth would make something like that...? That is the saddest bloody thing I've ever seen in my life.

Check Matthew Cammelle. He's the rare gentle one. And his voice is like a ventriloquist master, floating, mesmerising and terrifying at once.
TheMsiaddict Thanks, I will! Sounds incredible and in-character.
Cationna
Especially Music of The Night. But he looks like a spoiled child in All I Ask You Reprise and Final Lair. ALW Phantom is really a difficult role to portray, too much emotions rollercoaster there.
Totally agree.
Oh that is so wonderful. I never heard anything so beautiful
I hate how Christine passes out when she sees his face. She just promised him she would love him the same.
This movie is tragic.
We recorded this when it came on TV and I watched it over and over. I read the book. I think this is the best version, far better than the Broadway musical.
This version is not well known but it is the best in my opinion
Erik didn't have to die! it was so sad!!
He was very protective towards christine which was very chivalrous
Wow I remember this , now having watched the whole thing on another sight I remember watching it when I was about 15, its the reason I know the Phantoms name is Erik. I love Dance's Phantom he really was good in this part and this was a really great Miniseries.

Neither of them actually sings in this. The names of the singers should be mentioned on your video.
@jacquelinechneour5480 I didn't know that I'll have to pay attention when I watch it again
No problem. Very few actors actually sing in films.
@@jacquelinechneour5480 that is true
I Kept looking at his eyes!!!
Me too!
* High Five *
*High Five* !
Will always love this version ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘poto
And Terri polo is the best i❤️her👌🏻👌🏻
me too
They don't show Eric's face in this movie.😦😯😢

thank you
to everyone who want to watch this full and complete, search POTO 1990 kopit ver. there are plenty of videos out there and it is quite long :D
If you should have no idea of bel canto listen to carlotta- shes wobbleing, like many singers of today! Thanks for uploading, i like this Film.
Is this like the only phantom movie where Christine loved the Phantom?
Well technically she does in every version but it varies on the type of love.
But to me, she wants to show him love in this series. Not like the others where she's afraid of him
Have u watched Love Never Dies?
Tais Nardy Yes.
Andros Pahlavan I know that it have some problems, but don't you think that Christine loves the Phantom in this story?
NOOOOOOOO I want Erik!
K hermosa terry polo dios mio
Is that actually Charles Dance singing? If so then gosh dang, he's impressive :D
It is Gerard Garino who sings his part
Weronika K Oh, is that who it is? Well, he does a great job!
+YatzSliversword yes! I wish he nad more singing lines in the miniseries... I guess Garino was an opera singer, like Michele Lagrange, who sung Christine's part here.
yes
But Charles Dance has a lovely voice on his own. I wish they used the actual voice of Dance in the singing parts.
Teri polo is so awesome i love her i saw her in an episode of law and order svu and she was very good in it and i also think shes very pretty
Im missing scenes... gerard telling eric that he is no longer the director of this operahaouse.??
I was wondering about that too
This is a Teri Polo only cut.
i liked everything...🕊❤🕊...🌼
14:10 is my favorite part hehe showing up the mean lady 😂
she plays the “if you love me” card so many times and they fall like fools
So, you dont ever get to see his face in the particular version?
+Merthurmad Yup. I for one think it's absolutely brilliant.
Cationna I certainly think it is too :)
I remember watching this as a kid! I think I'll stick with ALW'S version!
Ill say this much for charles dance,he certainly knows how to make himself unrecognisable
That's the make-up artist's work.
what is she singing at 4:10
Phillip correct me if I'm wrong I thought it was Roual
That's ALW version. Philippe is Raoul's elder brother.
*****
Indeed. Phillippe was non-existent in the musical version.
Is there original song from Yeston and Kopit's version here?
on RUclips? yes.
i hate how we never saw his face maybe they didnt have enough money for the bugdet but tstill i think its great
Jenny Traylor Ikr after her reaction to his face it would be nice to see what's that terrible :P
im glad this is the only movie that did not show because i would hate all movies if they did that to the phantom
+Jenny Traylor I don't think it was budget, but as in the musical by Yeston and Kopit, hit was never shown either. Plus, the best distortion is the one we think up of ourselves.
im just saying it could of been but thanks
Buquet saw his face before falling to the trap.
This is skipping a lot of scenes which she is in. It may be small bits but still.
Who sings Christine's opera parts? I know Teri Polo didn't do the actual singing - anyone know who did?
Why so many parts of the movie have been cut out?
+Garradorable1 I think I was wrong regarding my above comment. The breaks look like movie clips compiled into a full- length movie. This reminds me of some animated movies that are made from video game cut scenes.
This might be embarrassing, but what are the songs Christine sings at minute 3 and 4? Thx
Aupres de Ma Blonde
The one she hums that doesn't really have lyrics (Erik also sings it to her later in his bedroom) is called "Laissez-moi planter le mai".
Thanks a lot :)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No problem! Crazy thing is, I didn't even have to check the time stamps you mentioned -- I've watched it so many times over 2.5 decades that I knew which songs you meant ;) it's so cool now with the Internet to be able to know the songs and lyrics! Omg isnt the Phantom Tywin Lannister???
Is this the full film/mini series in the video?
cutie this myself is ten years old boys again there memory
The ending to this version really gets me! Why does The Phantom have to die in all versions except our beloved Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical?
Who was the singing voice for Christine? I need to know!
singing voice for Christine was Michelle LaGrange
+Joan Busch then she is a great singer
WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE SONG CHRISTINE SINGS WITH CHARLOTA??
Bel Canto, I think, but I'm not sure of the composer.
Can Some Tell Me Is This Really Teri Polo Singing
Nope. It's Michèle Lagrange
BRO in the 2011 Sequel (Love Never Dies)
SPOILER ALERT 👀👀👀 This is sad 😭😭😭 I wouldn't go to to the Vicount -idk how to spell it- but i would stay with Erik ❤️😭
Christine is shot by Meg, Christine made a promise to never tell Gustave (their son) that Erik is his real father... instead of Raoul. Christine died I cried but THIS i cried even more 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
older version is much better knowing in this one erik revealed his appearance earlier.. which is i think not classical at all..
Version Française SVP
Merci
3:33 CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT MAKEUP!!!! :3
hahah :D
He couldn't have taken her to a hospital?.
lol they couldn't really afford some make up for the phantom...
:)
Phillipe was so immature and such a control freak
PHANTOM IS DADDY
Im better than everyone else in the world
I agree
