I think the Muppets aren't as big any more that it would make sense much. But I hope to visit this ride someday, I had no clue what it was really about. Looks like a lot of funny jokes!
Mark Verstappen yeah its pretty funny. Especially on your first time. Ive rode like 10 plus times and ill laugh out loud. Make to wait and see the whole pre show though
I played Sweetums in Muppet Vision 3-D in the early 90's. I hope they never remove it. I love going back to see it. I have to say, however, that it is not a "ride".
Foolish Floridian I finally had the chance to visit the show this past June and cried when Sweetums came out! My parents had The Muppet Show DVDs on repeat when I was a kid, so it felt like I was transported into the real show! I hope you enjoyed your time in the roll 😁
@@katwilliams5661 I had a great time. As far as performing in a show it was a strange arrangement, only two of us in the greenroom and not even getting dressed until halfway through the show when Miss Piggy started singing, but the atmosphere was very special. You hung out with the muppets all day and interacted with Statler and Waldorf. I get all warm and fuzzy when I go back to see it.
I do, too, Robert. I loved my days as a Muppet. "Sun shining bright above you. Soft breezes seem to whisper "I love you". Birds singing in the sycamore tree, dream a little dream of me. *kicks rabbit into the pond*".
That was done after his kids sold the Muppets property to Disney one of the terms required that they no longer use the Jim Henson brand on Muppets material as they kept the rest of the Jim Henson studios for them selves along with the creature shop.
Periodically rumors swirl that it will be removed, but nothing ever happens with it. The reality is that, at some point, especially with Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and Star Tours being disconnected and the second attempt at Muppet Land (Muppet Avenue) not coming to fruition, it will hit the skids and leave us forever. At that point, I can only hope Disney has the foresight to preserve Jim's last movie (yes, it is his last, something I felt should be pointed out since you said it was one of his last) and offer it on Blu-Ray for people to purchase and own. It's more than just a 3D movie at this point. Being that it's Jim's last hurrah, and sometimes attributed to Richard's last as well (though that's disputed), it's more important than a standard movie for fans of the Muppets.
I went to Hollywood Studios a while ago and saw the outside portion of the queue being used as an extension for the Rise of the Resistance queue. Thinking about it, I realized that this was one of the few occasions where the extended queue for an older ride was being used again after its decline in popularity. As convenient as it is to have short wait times for some of the less popular attractions at Disney in general, it is still heartbreaking to know that these rides have lost a certain charm that their popularity gave them.
Jim Henson has always been someone I looked up to. When I found out this was one of the last things he worked in I actually treasured this show. I would be heartbroken if they removed this.
A "Rainbow Connection" ride would be cool - maybe riding through each character's "home" set with Muppet character animatronics. Start with all of the Muppets singing the song...then we learn where each character came from...move to Gonzo and his chickens singing the song on his farm, Scooter and the Electric Mayhem singing the song on stage, Dr. Bunson and Beeker singing the song in the lab, Miss Piggy in front of her vanity singing the song, but end the ride with just Kermit singing on his log...and come back to all of the Muppets singing the final words from Rainbow Connection as you exit - Kermit is ageless and so is the song.
Jim Henson is actually kinda the anti-Michael Eisner, if you think about it. Henson was kind, authentic, a true creative visionary but utterly humble about it, and farsighted enough to build his vision into an empire, but without losing sight of the fact that compelling storytelling is at the heart of it all. At the other end of the spectrum, you have Eisner stumbling into a good thing, relentlessly stamping his name all over other people’s work, diminishing their vision, yet blaming others when his own dreadful ideas go wrong, and seemingly unable to keep himself from ruining anything good. No wonder people remember Henson with both fondness and reverence, yet can’t see Eisner without breaking into hives.
This show actually freaked me out as a little kid on the very first trip to Disney I can remember, because I honestly had no idea what to expect back then. To this day, it's a timelessly fun 3D show. "What are you doing?" "I'm just showing how you can trip if you walk with your glasses on." "Will you stop with this foolishness?!" "What foolishness would you like to see?"
Two things I learned from this video: 1) The theater is supposed to be the same as from The Muppet Show. The "big red curtain" is such a theater standard that I never realized this, despite Statler and Waldorf up in the box. 2) The show runs continuously all day whether there are guests present or not. That freaks me out for some reason.
While I was watching the part about the key under the mat, I was like “huh that looks like my video“ and it turns out, it was LOL! Great video! I love the Muppets and honestly Muppet Vision might be the best thing left at MGM/Hollywood Studios.. it’s too bad we never got the muppet movie ride
Expedition Theme Park thank you very much 😃 I want a world where both The Great Movie Ride as well as the muppet land are open!! That would be great haha
I love the muppets! I was at Disney when Jim Henson was there. I never realized though that the fire truck in the film was actually outside the building for a while. Bummer. I am surprised the attraction still remains. Muppets are so under-appreciated these days. I'm so old, I remember when the Muppet movies - like, the original Muppet Movie and the Muppet Caper- came out in theaters ❤ Good times.
STATLER: You know, maybe we're too hard on the Muppets. WALDORF: Well, there's a lot of things I like about the show. I like the costuming, and the special effects, and the choreography. STATLER: Is there anything you don't like about them? WALDORF: That's easy! Them! BOTH: D'oh-hohohohohohohoho! As an avowed Henson fanatic who remembers being heartbroken at his passing, this video hits just about all the notes I'd have hoped it would. Thank you for giving the nod to Richard Hunt as well.
Watched this for the first time in awhile the other day. It definitely holds up! As a huge Henson fan, I didn't realize he was so involved. That makes this attraction even more special!
I love how you could tell which person voiced each Muppet by their voice. Like the guy who did scooter. You close your eyes and bam it's scooter, or Jim and kermit.
Richard Hunt. Rest in peace to him, too. Scooter was based on him, because he was Jim Henson's protege. I love all the original Muppeteers. Sadly, they're almost all gone now.
Jim Henson was basically my generation's Walt Disney. I grew up on The Muppet Show and even saw the first Muppet Movie back when it came out in 1979 (I even still have my soundtrack records of it and The Great Muppet Caper). I was completely gutted when Jim died (even though I was in high school at the time, the Muppets were never "uncool" to me). The preshow for MuppetVision is one of the most brilliant and hilarious I've ever seen. The first time I saw Rizzo come out dressed at Mickey I just completely lost it laughing.
Omg that ride Would be heaven...wish it was made. 😕 My father and I had a hard time bonding after my parents divorce and Muppets were and still.are our common ground. I love these creatures with all my heart.
That one line from the show where Kermit is talking about how they invited all these famous scientist from around the world, but unfortunately none of them showed up always makes me chuckle
Watching this at the start of 2021, in the midst of the ongoing pandemic, because I can't get enough of these videos. I really want to see the follow-up video featuring the clips of the animatronic Kermit.
Back when I used to take annual trips to Disneyland we always made sure to see this show. Every time it was so fun and still hilarious even after multiple times.
Excellent video..When we finally managed to make our pilgrimage from the UK to Orlando last December, Muppets Vision was the very top of my list. Been dying to see it since 1990. It did not disappoint. I loved the surrounding area with Russia pizzeria (reference to Muppets Take Manhattan?) the Piggy Liberty fountain, and the fabulous shop where I bought my very own Kermit. I was so happy 😀😀😀 Also loved the "Great Moments in History" Muppets show in Magic Kingdom. It's lovely that you used tribute clips from The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson. That little speech from Robin always chokes me up. 😢😂
This is really cool. You even have the preshow. I remember doing this three years ago and because Hollywood Studios is a 1/2 day park, I have not gone back. Thanks for the share my friend. Full Watch for you.
I loved this show. I remember specifically there being a poster at some point in the cue with Rizzo that would make some joke concerning Mickey Mouse. I had a Muppet Viewfinder reel and seeing this show was just like a huge version.
I LOVE MUPPET VISION 3D! The show is hilarious and the combination of effects is awesome. Even the preshow is great fun! So sad we didn’t get a Muppet ride, It could have been amazing!
Muppets were my complete childhood. I collected EVERY SINGLE season of the muppet show ever created, and watched all of them all the time. I also adored all the Movies and watched them ALL THE TIME. I drew the muppets. I knew all their names, and knew a bunch of useless facts about them. I talked about them all the time and made my own muppets. I even had a TON of theories about how Constantine, the villain from muppets most wanted, turned evil. I knew everything about him Henson, and everything about how the muppets and other shows were created. I was kind of an outcast as a kid, I didn’t like anything any normal kid would. I didn’t even like cake for a period of my life. The muppets, the fraggles, and Sesame Street were kind of an escape from the real world. I hope they continue to entertain many more generations to come. And to all the muppets and Jim himself, Thank you. Thank you for all the happiness you gave me throughout my childhood, and continue to give me now.
I know that one day Galaxy’s edge will swallow Muppetvision. I only hope that when it inevitably happens they will use it as an opportunity to built a true Muppet land elsewhere in Hollywood studios. Rebuild Muppetvision in it’s balloon decorated glory, a good Pizzarizzo that reflects the concept better and that Muppet movie ride brought to reality where they can pay homage to both Jim’s concept as well as the late great movie ride itself. Sadly I’m not holding my breath, I don’t trust them to give the Muppets the attention they deserve, not while their current Muppet business is in the toilet. I sense when Grand Avenue is gone there will be no Muppet representation in all the parks. Self fulfilling prophecy that people don’t care about the Muppets, but only because they aren’t doing anything good with them
Theme parks went through a period of infatuation with 3D theatres where the audience were sprayed with water, mist etc. while sitting through some crappy movie - Terminator 4D, Shrek 4D, Bugs Life 4D, Muppets 3D. They all sucked. Bad enough to endure them once but these attractions were there for years, and some still exist to this day.
I love MuppetVision 3D. I love the Muppets. I actually played Animal, Fozzie, and Janice in the live shows in Orlando when the merger was still going through.
When i last visited the disneyland park in Anaheim at the end of June they seemed to have removed muppet vision i looked on the park maps and did not see the attraction and even walked over to where it once was and could not find it! it was replaced by a frozen sing along type of show.
Too bad Disney has almost completely removed Jim’s name from the ride. His last project and they had the nerve to borderline take complete credit for it.
I grew up with muppet vision 3D on the west coast and was really bitter when it closed to make way for Frozen. I hope the Hollywood Studios version doesn't close. It's one of my childhood favorites
I was so sad when Disney bought the muppets because I knew they wouldn't get the same treatment as when they were under the Henson Company. Sometimes I feel like if a franchise doesn't bring in the revenue Disney expects they kind of like shove it in the vault. I love the muppets!! The Muppets Take Manhattan was the first movie I ever watched in theatres! Maybe we'll get Muppetland someday
Love it and all things Muppets I did hear that Pizza Rizzo is closing. The Muppets store when I was there earlier this year barely had any Muppets stuff. It was a generic Disney store. Too bad they closed the attraction in California. DISNEY PLEASE KEEP THIS OPEN!
Great video Sam. Muppetvision is one of my all time favourite attractions. Its such a shame they never completed the rest of the muppets land. Movies i would love to see on the muppets movie ride - star wars (i remember the luke skywalker episode of the muppet show), classic james bond and miss piggy in he sound of music 😀
They should make a jim henson themed land in dubailand as an indoor theme park with areas inspired by jim henson's beloved franchises Fraggle rock, Dinosaur Train, splash and bubbles and The dark Crystal
From what I know the Muppets are part of the Star Wars expansion. They are supposed to be somewhat part of the shift in theming, performing the Star Wars movies like Great Moments in History in Magic Kingdom. Have no idea if it's still true but Disney did release a statement about it in the original plans.
I’m very sad that the muppet vision in Disneyland was closed and taken away leaving only the Florida one. I really wish they would bring it back, they hardly do anything with the stage now
Last time I saw muppet vision 3D the movie stopped halfway through and cut to a blue screen with a bunch of numbers on it. Now I can say that I was evacuated out of muppet vision 3D.
Every second that Waldo is on screen, essentially hijacking the show away from the Muppets is a crime. Only Michael Eisner could have green lighted such an abomination. Waldo's name, voice, and style just reek of the studio's need to put the "Disney" jackboot (I'm sorry. I meant to say imprint.) on an otherwise perfectly directed Muppet adventure that should have been loaded with trademark puns, sight gags, and the kind of slapstick wackiness that defined the Muppet Show for so many years.
Always a favorite!! Saw it 1st in 1993 and its as funny and corny today as it was then!!! Aleays got a kick out of some of the pre-show props; the "net full of Jel-lo" is a great play on "Annette Funicello!!!" The Studio 1 Muppet Store has been in its same location since at least 1993. If they must change the attraction, Disney should make it a Muppet-Star Wars attraction showing how the Muppets would do Star Wars!! Miss Piggy as Princess Leia?? Which Muppet would be Luke or Darth Vader?
Disney has never understood the magic of the Muppets. The show reboot is a perfect example. I fear they will remove this attraction in the next few years for some bland expansion of the already bland star wars land. I love this attraction even though it is showing it's age. I got to be Kermit for a few weeks at DHS and man, that costume was badly designed. I had to be extremely careful where I placed my hands when posing for photos as Kermit's fingers were so long, a simple shoulder placement would look like I was feeling up a female guest. Miss Piggy was much worse! Piggy required a person outside to help the performer get in and out. As Kermit, I always emphasized that getting the other performer out ( into the AC) was priority as the Piggy costume was much warmer then Kermit. Even a still, it was an honor to "be the frog". :)
When I went to Disney, I went to see that show with other people from my school, and some kid stole a pair of the 3D glasses from the show and didn’t get caught lol. PS, I agree that they have the same songs playing everyday in the gift shop; they play the same three songs over and over again and I don’t know how the employees can take it anymore
Would you like to see a bigger Muppets presence in the park and what would you want to see? Let me know!
Expedition Theme Park maybe something new, it’s ooooold

We saw this in 2003 when I was a toddler and it traumatized me lol we had to leave the theater halfway through the show cause I was crying so much
I grew up with muppet vision 3D on the west coast and was really bitter when it closed to make way for Frozen.
DynamoJoe ermahgerd!!! Cool Kidz Club!! 😀
I miss this show being in DCA! 😪☹😢😭
Love it and all things Muppets I did hear that Pizza Rizzo is closing. The Muppets store when I was there earlier this year barely had any Muppets stuff. It was a generic Disney store. Too bad they closed the attraction in California. DISNEY PLEASE KEEP THIS OPEN!
this is one of my favorite rides in the park
Muppet Vision 3D has always been a favorite of mine since I was a kid
Great video Sam. Muppetvision is one of my all time favourite attractions. Its such a shame they never completed the rest of the muppets land. Movies i would love to see on the muppets movie ride - star wars (i remember the luke skywalker episode of the muppet show), classic james bond and miss piggy in he sound of music 😀
I just went to holywood studios and rode this the day of this upload
If that Frozen movie wouldn’t be much more popular, the Muppet Vision 3D would still have been there in California Adventure.
Tarzan would have been Mad COMEDY! The Wizard Of Oz would have also of been great and not to mention Star Wars!
More Muppets in the Parks.
I always wondered why animal wasn’t in the show at all! He’s my favorite besides Fozzy and Rowlf.
Muppet vision has to stay, it's one of the shows in any of the parks. I am sad that muppet land never happened, It sounded genius
Happy 50th anniversary to Muppet Vision 3D :)
I adore this show. Just as fun as it was when I first saw it 22 years ago. Be such a shame when Disney decide its time is up x
It’s really funny and I enjoyed watching it and having fun
great video. thank you..☺
If this ever gets removed i won’t get over it.....i love it so much like to death
I’m very sad that the muppet vision in Disneyland was closed and taken away leaving only the Florida one. I really wish they would bring it back, they hardly do anything with the stage now
Thank you great video
Last time I saw muppet vision 3D the movie stopped halfway through and cut to a blue screen with a bunch of numbers on it. Now I can say that I was evacuated out of muppet vision 3D.
That would be hilarious
I saw this a long time ago, and all I remember about it was that I was terrified of the Mickey Mouse at the end.
I'm surprised I've only seen this show once recently. I mean, the Muppets are hilarious!
Rumor is that when Galaxys edge opens Star Tours may close ..Maybe it could be the Muppet expansion?
Good history.... this came out the same day my tweet about this attraction got a lot of attention lol.
Every second that Waldo is on screen, essentially hijacking the show away from the Muppets is a crime. Only Michael Eisner could have green lighted such an abomination. Waldo's name, voice, and style just reek of the studio's need to put the "Disney" jackboot (I'm sorry. I meant to say imprint.) on an otherwise perfectly directed Muppet adventure that should have been loaded with trademark puns, sight gags, and the kind of slapstick wackiness that defined the Muppet Show for so many years.
wish they could have made great muppet movie ride fingers cross it gets announce at next d23
I love the muppets I would have loved a muppet land and muppet ride
One doubt where do you get the nice newsreel intro music from?
Why did the California Adventure show close down? I always looked forward to seeing it
Always a favorite!!
If Muppet Vision 3D might be closed for Muppet Vision 3D 2.0 there might be modern day special effects.
omg that pizza restaurant would have been amazing!
Richard Hunt kind of sounds like Scooter. I have a PizzeRizzo shirt! I've never been there though.
They better not remove this ride from Disney’s Hollywood Studios
If this does i bet the muppet fans would riot
1:51 Cheeky Kermit The Frog. X
Disney know who you are now! Also yeah working in that store was the worst
I have a l
Pair of the yello glases frome the captain eo tribute.
you should make the last episode of expedition Hollywood studios on the tower of terror
Auditions for MMC, do they still have stuff like that?
Great video
yeah, if anything theyll prob be going away, with Galaxys Edge coming next year and talk of tying Star Tours into it.
How are people recording 3D shows like this? Are they using a special lens or putting the ‘glasses’ in front of the camera?
The second
have you considered doing a video on Nemesis Sub-Terra at Alton Towers one day?
