Hey Everyone! This is something I've wanted to figure out for a while, so I'm excited to hear what you think! Let us know if you have any questions or suggestions!
As someone who's been learning the art side of blender making models, textures, etc. It is very nice to see your work like this on the more technical side! Thank you for sharing this information.
does this still work? can't seem to get it working in blender 4.1, after i copy the driver expression in, the image texture still changes when scrubbing the timeline.
Hello, every time i copy the data path, it comes like this nodes["Image Texture"].image_user.frame_duration and generates an error ERROR INVALID PYTHON EXPRESSION
Is there a way to Pack these Image Sequences? I've animated a project, and I need a render farm to render it but I can't pack these Image sequences :")
Drivers definitely seem confusing at first, but they're extremely powerful and helpful. If you ever have any questions, let me know, I'm more than happy to try to help! Thanks for watching 😁
Hello sir I made a glowing pipe mesh in this its looking like light is flowing I just animate mapping and change its rotation of z axis but now when I am exporting in gltf material is not coming along with the mesh when I am baking the emit all images are baking properly but when I am importing them in sequence image and exporting in gltf after that when I am importing only one single image is important not the all sequence image
Trying to enter -1*(((frame_current-1)%frame_duration)+1)+(round(Input_5)%frame_duration) results in me getting a invalid python expression on Blender 4.0 Ive checked to ensure the pathing i used was correct. does anyone know if this was broken or if there is a adjustment needed for newer blender versions?
thank you ,But I have a problem with texturing the pages. For example, this book has 90 pages. I use a 3-second video to texture these pages. This video is 30 frames per second, and a total of 90 frames, which is just right for on the 90 pages of this book So the problem is when I link the video with the geometry to the base color, it defaults to using only the first frame of the video to give all the book pages the same texture How can I automatically make each frame of the video correspond to each page of the book, so that the first frame of the video is on the first page of the book, the second frame is on the second page of the book, and so on, how can I do it? thanks
This sounds like an interesting thing to troubleshoot. I think I'd have to see how your book is set up to figure it out. If you're comfortable with it, you can email us your .blend file and I'll take a look when I get some free time!
Great work with this, I've started to use it consistently. The only real issue with it is when trying to automate it, you need to be very careful as to how - I found if the frame offset jumps from a positive to minus number, or back, it'll always attempt to render frame zero. This isn't a problem in most cases, but if you're automating the value with another driver, and it's a fast render, it can result in the final value not being calculated before the frame locks down, giving us frame zero as the visible frame. God I wish we could just decide which frame we want directly.
Quick question. Is there any way to randomize the changing of faces I've added so I dont have to go in and switch between them and keyframe each instance? Theres only three and I just want them to randomly change eveery 10-15 seconds or so throughout my render
Ayo, it works! 1 problemo though. it seems to act like the texture is missing every 8 frames, which is the number of frames my animation has. the weird part is that all the frames i made seem to show..
Im using Blender 3.2 and its saying Python Restricted for Security. I also tried turning on Auto Run Phython Scripts and its still not working its now saying Slow Phython Expression
can someone help me all i want to do is slow down my image sequence play throughout rate thats it and i cant for the life of me figure out how to do it 🙃🙃🙃🙃
Unfortunately no, Blender Nodes for the most part don't export. Unity has its own system that I'm sure you can do something similar with. Thank you for watching!
I haven't run into this issue, but its been brought to my attention that there's a way easier way to achieve roughly the same result, and maybe you'll have luck with that. Create a new image sequence, set the frames to 1 and keyframe the offset, make sure to use constant interpolation! Let me know if this helps! Thank you for watching 😁
@@TheObservatoryShow It was. It's been helping me with making my rpg indie game, since I was going for an wild arms 3 suikoden 3 on ps2, look with drawn 2d textures, so these have helped me greatly, very thankful and grateful. You are far too kind 😊 Thank you very much. If your game is anything like those it's going to be amazing! Once you finish it let me know cause I want to play it!
It's there! The area that says Driver Expression. If its not appearing for whatever reason here it is: -1*(((frame_current-1)%frame_duration)+1)+(round(default_value)%frame_duration) -1*(((frame_current-1)%frame_duration)+1)+(round(Input_5)%frame_duration) Hope this helps!
Textures are the broken purple texture, it's the right file path but nope, addon decides you're not allowed to have animated textures that actually work.
Nothing in there was easy (except import the image sequence) - I'd just stay there. Why would you go through all that work? I've your exporting to a game engine, I'd bet drivers to export out - and if your animating in Blender, why not just use action contraints controlled by a control bone?
It's a pretty common complaint with this video! There are a lot of easier ways to do this, which I wasn't aware of at the time of creating the video! You can do it however you find easiest!
It really is! Since making this video I have found much simpler ways to accomplish something very similar. You can just set the frames to 1 and keyframe the offset, and it'll more or less do the same thing! Thank you for watching!
I've seen it! The complicated part of this method was figuring it out. So now the set up is pretty quick, and the driver is a bit more versatile in my opinion! (also I thought consolidating all of a scenes textures into a single geometry node controller was a pretty cool idea!) Thanks for watching😁
@@TheObservatoryShow Interesting reaction... Overcomplicated or not, I had no idea how to set up multi-variable drivers like this. SO that alone made this video worth the whole five minutes lol. So I guess take my sub in return! And I also thought the geometry controller was a cool idea

Can you make cat suit and tanooki suit on mario
Could I easily export this to Unity?
This is making it easy?!?
Damn, I'd hate to see "hard mode".
Thank you for the video this is great. Do you know of a way to incorporate this to a geometry plane sequence?
how to fix purple texture? its appears for millisecond when animation going
I hope Blender is aware of this channel .This is one of the best Blender tutorial channels that i found .Thank you

This is incredibly helpful! Makes me wonder why Blender doesn't just have a dedicated way to keyframe texture animations.
does this still work? can't seem to get it working in blender 4.1, after i copy the driver expression in, the image texture still changes when scrubbing the timeline.

some one made anothe way which is way easier by making the start frame 1 and the frames to 1 and changing the offset to control it

How can I change a video speed here?

This is so helpful! But I can't access geometry nodes at all for some reason.

Ayo, it works! 1 problemo though. it seems to act like the texture is missing every 8 frames, which is the number of frames my animation has. the weird part is that all the frames i made seem to show..
It shows up in the viewport, but then is missing in the render?
@@TheObservatoryShow It happens to me too. Every loop there's a blank frame. It shows in Render View.
Can I make shockwaves with this technique?

How do I export this as glb/gltf as the animated texture is unable to get exported.
Thanks you, who would have know I would go back here
I have spelled everything right, but its not working.
My offset doesnt update.
Please. Is it possible to animate image sequences independently from each other when using it as a particle?
I'm actually not sure! I'll have to play around a bit and see what I can figure out!
this is amazing thank you for this!!
I hope you find it useful! Thank you for watching 😄
it worked for me sort of everything is connected but it won't let me control or keyframe the value it just plays the eye frames on loop
I'm not sure what could be happening there, If you'd like you can Email us your .Blend and we can troubleshoot it when we get a chance!
How the FUCK is a simple Image change so fucking complicated? There have to be another way Oo
Im using Blender 3.2 and its saying Python Restricted for Security.
I also tried turning on Auto Run Phython Scripts and its still not working
its now saying Slow Phython Expression
Slow python expressions should be ok if you don't use too many of them!
