I've led two groups on folding bike tours of Japan. The combination of a folder and JR trains is unbeatable! On the 2019 tour, we rode from Zeze to Omihachiman along Lake Biwa. Very windy! As others have suggested, "portaging" the bagged folding bike through the station is a chore. We dealt with it by bringing lightweight folding luggage carts. We'd fold up and bad the bikes, then use a couple of luggage straps to attach the luggage cart to the package. Towing the bike through the station was much easier than carrying on the shoulder. The folding luggage cart was bungeed to the rear rack on the bike when we traveled by bike.
Somehow I am just hooked on your videos.. been binge watching for couple of days.. it's like background watching long rides during my work day.. very simple content and just this is exactly what I like about biking, just going on a steady ride..
Make it easy on yourself. Buy a small 2 wheeler bag roller which is expanable put your bicycle on top of the wheeler and push or pull the wheeler. After reaching your destination slide the bag wheeler and put it in your backpack. Come on you can purchase the small bag wheeler online.
Thank you for the details of your trip. What is the weight of the bagged bike? Especially nice that you had a bag from Ikea that ft nicely! Would it have been better if there was a portable plywood board with four or five small caster wheels as big as the Bottom of the bag that you could strap on? That could be folded in two and tossed into the bag when not in use? OR, Can the wheels of that bike protrude from holes in the bag?
Has to be my new favorite video. Must be the anticipation of the two of you finally able to make a substantial trip on your new bikes. Congratulations! Ha, ha, disappointed to see it end coming out of the station. Have a safe journey.

Have you considered the Brompton Bike Cover with integrated pouch? It would go over your bike and leave the bottom open so that you could just roll the bike. As the bike is covered, that would be allowed on Tokyo trains? You could raise your seatpost so that you could push/pull the bike.
What happens if you have a full size mountain bike? How do you carry onto the train platform. As you said even if you use a bag with rollers, you have to carry the big roller bag when you reach the other side.
I don't know if you can hang panniers on a bike with 16" wheels, but if it is possible I would encourage you to do it. I find riding with a heavy backpack pretty uncomfortable. I find it particularly hard on the butt.
the advantage of this brompton folding bike is to roll when folded. now that you have to carry it on your body kind of defeat the purpose of this bike. I bet it must be hard on her.
Burley Travoy is rather dear, there are DIY bike trailer idea using shopping cart with bigger detachable wheels (12"-14"). Also it can secure the 16" foldie on it and pull along, up down subway staircase a little easy.
Such a shame to waste those great wheels on the folding bikes and what a pain to carry them. Can't you make some slots or openings at the bottom of the bag for the wheels to protrude and be usable? What a trooper your wife is to put up with that lol.
No, the entire point of the bags being required is to keep dirty wheels from making the public transit dirty. Some societies actually value clean public areas
@@cjohnson3836 I[m not talking about the bike tires. I'm referring to the little wheels the manufacturer provided which are like luggage wheels. I saw several suitcases being rolled around on their wheels.
Suggestion, since you can roll the Brompton style bikes when folded, don’t put them in the bags until you actually get to the train platform. That way you can roll the bikes most of the way instead of carrying them.
It's the new arc. The epic adventure of Kurogoma-kun and Taro-chan has officially begin XD. Just beware of of someone wearing joker purple green suit on the train. Keep safe.
It looks like you got a good workout transporting your bikes on the train, but you're both young, fit, and healthy, and you have each other so it makes it all worthwhile! As always, I'm looking forward to the next video. Greetings from chilly Toronto! 🚲😁
I've been riding this bike for about a month ruclips.net/user/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.
My word, I bet you were both shattered after that journey ! Be very careful when carrying the folding bike bags : avoid scrunching up your shoulders too tightly, for a long time. This can very easily cause nasty and painful damage to the ligaments and muscles in the area. Take it easy, for after all, you want to eventually get back to Vietnam in good condition. You are on a break, not in a competition !
Nice video ! Well done. Thank you so much for sharing
maybe Royale will lend you their titanium tri-fold bike when they get some in stock.

Hi, can you bring trifolds in the underground shopping places in Nagoya?
If they're in a bag, yes. If not, probably will be fine but some security people might say something depending on the exact area
Do you have the link for the handlebar bag?

You may get away with it, but technically against the rules
In my country..U can actually walk with d bike during weekend but need to pay extra 1 ringgit
00:40 virtually the most beautiful bike route is "Nishi Seto Expressway". :-)
look forward to your u-tube video :-)
Where do you buy the bags?
Can I bring the folded bike into the station without packing it up, and pack it before riding the train?
Wheeled bags are the answer.
What happens if you have a full size mountain bike? How do you carry onto the train platform. As you said even if you use a bag with rollers, you have to carry the big roller bag when you reach the other side.
It needs to be able to fit into a bag, so you need to take off both wheels.
@@TwoWheelCruise Thanks!

Possibly with an elevated rack
Amazing with the 4K! Can't wait for next episode! 😍
Hi, loved your video. Can I know the specifications of your folding bike?
I believe the bike specification is: Buy a Brompton and copy it exactly.
*awesome video!*
Glad you enjoyed it
didn't know there's a tiny version of the Craft Cadence bag 😆
Yep, it's a newer model :)
Just wondering if ever u can bike at HCM or Hanoi roads.. 🤭🤭. I am your supporter from Malaysia 💪💪💪
Hope we can make it one day!
Btw, try to check brompton traveller channel. He has a set up for backpack on the rear rack, so you dont have to wear it all the time
Thanks!
So lovely 2 of u, love from VietNam
Oh yay, I was looking forward to this! Very curious how they perform!
Us too 😊
What camera did you use to film this vid? :)
mix of pocket 2 and iphone

can you travel the same with 20 inch bikes?
It's more difficult
If this is the kind of content we will get from South East Asia.. I'm REALLY looking forward to it! It's gonna be awesome!
Yep 👍
Is it significantly slower on flat roads / slopes compared to your 20 inch bikes?
I don't think so, but the bumps are more noticeable

Hopefully they open soon
@@TwoWheelCruise I want to bring my road bike too. Will be stressful traveling with it, but I think it will be worth it.
Can you recommend shops to buy mamachari groupsets or upgrade parts??
I own a bridgestone beaute

The two of you definitely got a workout carrying those Ebikes up flights of steps.
Warm up for what’s to come
Love that you two are always active. With a big move coming up, my reaction would be to hunker down, and not do much.
Needed a change of pace
@@TwoWheelCruise Wishing you good traveling, and Godspeed.
Heavy bags, maybe a rolling bag for foldable bikes? 😄
Good upgrade idea
3:30 Bikepacking, literally.
Great bike packing trip! Good to see Thuong chan wearing her helmet.
Thanks!
Looks like the portable bikes came with small rolling wheels. Maybe the bike bags can be altered to use those wheels.
It’s possible to just cover the top I guess
@@TwoWheelCruise just need 4 reinforced slits at the bottom of the bag for the wheels to poke through. Duct tape. :)

Yep
Great idea 💡... When I traveled by train in Europe I rented 🚲...
Did you get your bikes from the SG website? If so how much was shipping and extra taxes?
Changes depending on the country
How do you guys set up your seat height they always seem low to me?
We mark our positions
Is it forbidden to roll the bike into the train when folded or is it just frowned upon?
It’s against the rules
@@TwoWheelCruise Thanks for saving me from embarrassment when I visit Japan with my brompton next time.
Why don’t you fold the bike then wheel it with a bag placed loosely over it?
That would keep other commuters clean if they touched it!
Man carrying these bikes looks tough. The struggle is real.
Worth it
IKEA bag?
Ha wrote that just as you said IKEA 🤣
👋👍
If you're first time in Kyoto, you'll love it there! Suggestion...pick up a roll of duct tape in case those IKEA bags rip...
Good idea!
Is better to travel using mini trolley
Could you have a bag with wheels on it, so you don't have to lug the bike around?
Possibly, but then you have to carry those

Cut holes in the bag, reinforced, for the roller.
It doesn't look like you have much room for pantry bags...
