I’m really happy that Silversun Pickups is in Colin’s honorable mention list. IMO an amazing underrated band. Some of the catchiest vocal melodies I’ve ever heard
I love your ranking vids, all of them, your struggles with this made me contemplate doing the same and narrowing down 10 favorites is next to impossible. Well done🔥
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate this "Master Killer" of a community. Happy New Year ya'll. Let's keep being a community, not a commodity, as Saint Vogel the Terror would say.
Even though these lists make sense if you've been watching the show, it's still very interesting how diverse they are. I have had to make my top 10 list before, but it's always changing and I'm never satisfied with what I'm leaving off. Anyway, here is my top 10 favorite albums of all time as it stands right now. 1. Metric - Fantasies (indie rock/new wave) 2. My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade (emo/alternative rock/pop-punk/progressive rock) 3. Green Day - Insomniac (punk rock/hardcore punk/pop-punk) 4. Rise Against - Siren Song of the Counter Culture (melodic hardcore/hardcore punk) 5. PUP - Morbid Stuff (punk rock/pop-punk) 6. Deftones - Diamond Eyes (alternative metal/shoegaze/post-hardcore) 7. Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American (alternative rock/emo pop/pop-punk/power pop) 8. Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger (grunge/alternative metal/heavy metal) 9. Rancid - ...And Out Come The Wolves (punk rock/ska punk) 10. Paramore - Paramore (alternative rock/pop-punk/power pop/new wave) Honorable mentions (no order) 1. Deafheaven - New Bermuda (blackgaze/post-metal) 2. Harakiri for the Sky - Mære (post-black metal) 3. Brutus - Burst (post-hardcore/post-metal/post-rock) 4. Thy Catafalque - Vadak (avant-garde metal: black metal/heavy metal/folk/jazz/electronic) 5. Bathory - Under the Sign of the Black Mark (black metal) 6. Death - Leprosy (death metal) 7. Hades - Dawn of the Dying Sun (black metal/Viking metal) 8. Aeternus - Beyond the Wandering Moon (melodic black metal/atmospheric death metal) 9. Ethereal Shroud - Trisagion (atmospheric black metal/funeral doom) 10. A Tribe Called Quest - We got it from Here... Thank You 4 Your service (jazz rap)
Number 1 I take u serious in the area of music and guitar. You really are an awesome guitarist. But you also bring a smile to my face for you just being you. Thank you,,,,
Colin's number one is incredible. Maybe not my favorite album but definitely one of the best albums every written and far and away my favorite by that band. Love Bo's pick as well. Predictable for him but also just an incredible record that's a classic for a reason. Great episode.
You should try to get lombardo or kerry King on the show. Slayer is so important to every band even if the band doesn't know it. Kerry is very open to talking about the history and writing music. I met him before a slayer show in buffalo on the farewell tour and he talked to me about gear for a while.
I remember many years ago. Somewhere in Germany (Münster) the best LOA Cover I ve ever Heard. Embraced by Hatred and Twitching Tongues Method of Groove ❤️ . I think it is still on RUclips. Live Version.
Angel Dust and KFAD...man. I can't separate these two. If someone asks me about FNM I always tell them to go listen to those two. That's where it's at. Kudos.
There was some killer records. For me, in no particular order, and at the time of this post.... 1. RATM - Evil Empire 2. Soundgarden - Superunknown 3. Biohazard - Urban Discipline 4. Radiohead - OK Computer 5. Black Sabbath - Masters of Reality 6. Misfits - W.A.U 7. Fear Factory - Demanufacture 8. Type O Negative - Slow, Deep and Hard 9. Nirvana - Nevermind 10. QOTSA - Rated R
I need an episode dedicated to album closers just to see how high Colin would rank Supper's Ready. Cause for me it's all time #1 best album closer of all time.
I really recommend checking Messiah's first band Mercy. Their second album, Witchburner dates one year before the release of Candlemass's Epicus Doomicus Metallicus.
@@BlackStallion-c7o yup and Billy pretty much wrote that entire album by himself since the band had a falling out before recording. You can tell Mellon Collie was a much more collaborative effort, for better or for worse. Both are incredible in their own ways.
An icebreaker question I like to ask and answer is "If you had only 2 bands to listen to for the rest of your life, who would it be?" Mine would be Metallica and Rammstein.

I love this because I mostly listen to metal and hardcore. I also enjoy jazz, hip-hop, pop, 80s music, orchestral, and baroque music, but metal and hardcore are what truly fuel me. I can’t choose just 10 albums, but BTBAM’s The Parallax II: Future Sequence is probably the album I’ve listened to the most from start to finish without skipping any tracks. Once I start this album, I have to listen to it all the way through. I think it’s mostly due to my neurodivergence, though😂
it is a jam.. great misdirect kinda got me after that tour(mirrors has the best ghost note melody on the planet). hadnt really listened to colors before then, mind blown
I agree, it's decent just okay but good mother it's so over hyped!! Now a personal favourite? Trapped under Ice big kiss goodnight. Best hardcore punk album of all time (IMO) and my favourite album of all time.
Good pick w Reign in Blood, but anyone who says that South or Seasons is the best slayer album is a total canoe. Show no mercy and hell awaits are wayyyyy better , heavier and had much more influence on extreme metal as a whole. Also surprised to see no king diamond from Colin

@ for real was it him that said he couldn’t get into Beach House?
Agreed
God bless Colin for mentioning Silversun Pickups. Genuinely one of the best rock bands of the 21st century
Got very excited to hear that out of nowhere shout out. Solid lists all around tho
Carnavas and Swoon are straight up masterpieces. Combining death cab for cutie songs with smashing pumpkins guitar tone is genius.

silversun pickups , couple tracks
I feel like I constantly change my pick for favorite albums, depending on what day of the week someone asks me haha
Candlemass Nightfall is perfect.
One episode into 2025 and we already got a Boment this is going to be a great year
insane number one from Colin because I 100% agree. I think it has the greatest song ever written on it (the "track 19" Colin refers to)
As soon as Bo mentioned Led Zepplin, specifically the song Over the Hill and Far Away, I had to pause the video and go listen to it.
Creeping Death came out two years before Raining Blood so that would be an earlier breakdown.
100% agreed on "you are the quarry" insane record and recordcover.
Glad I own it on vinyl.
Wondering if brand new TDAG was omitted?? and pick any blink album from 97-03
On point with Candlemass and Slayer.
