I hope y'all at Hardlore realize how much this podcast helps a struggling young dude like me on a hard day. Y'all bring this charismatic energy that makes it impossible not to smile and laugh. On dark days sometimes this podcast is all I have to lift me up. I'm gonna make my Hardcore fest debut by crossing the border to go to Tied Down this year, and I WILL find Colin or Bo and give em a hug or something. Hope that's okay.
The first tape I ever stole, and I didn't even know what it was. It just looked cool, and I'm from the Westside of Cleveland. Fuck Ohio and fuck you! Thanks, and I luv you
100%. Great to see Damnation A.D. get some love here. I actually have had the pleasure of filling in on bass for a few shows. Slight correction-the band is based out of D.C. , not Chicago (if I heard these guys correctly)
Surprised there was no mention of Phil from Irate AND Jasta guesting on Work In Progress by Candiria! Thought that would've been up your alley, dudes (or at least Colin's).
So glad to see Mastodon on this list! Just to add a little information: Scott guest vocals on almost every Mastodon albuns : Leviathan, Blood Mountain, Crack The Skye, The Hunter, Once More Round..., Emperor of Sand and Medium Rarities.
@@xZehoI for some reason just never listened to the last ETID record and only recently found out about the Andy Hull feature and I’m so mad I never listened to it, Keith and Andy have my two favourite clean vocals.
A fucking crazy one for me was the song Of Blood and Salt by Gojira, which had Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad) and Frederik Thorendal (Meshuggah) guest spots. If you haven’t heard that song, some of the most seismically heavy AND hardest riffs and grooves ever committed to tape.
@@ccoletti81Not that ik of. But being that they love bands like Life Of Agony and Only Living Witness, I’d be surprised if they weren’t VOD fans as well
They have definitely at least mentioned them in passing as well as Tom mentioning them I believe when they were talking about the old days in NY? If I’m wrong it’s criminal
Never knew about the Corpsegrinder/Suffocation guestvocals! So awesome!! On further inspection, he was in Morrisound Studios at the same time as well, with Monstrosity to record their debut Imperial Doom. Apparently they partied hard and Corpsegrinder recorded his part half drunk 😂
Great topic. Love me a good guest feature. Here are some of my favorites off the top of my head (no order). 1. Corpsegrinder on Can't Help but Hate by Terror: It's Corpsegrinder and Terror, what more do I need to say? 2. Poppy on Suffocate by Knocked Loose: Her vocals complement Bryan's so well, the callout before the reggaeton breakdown rules, and her scream is so nasty. 3. Dr. Israel on Coppers by Rancid: Amazing reggae track to close out the perfect album Life Won't Wait with awesome lyricism and vocals from Dr. Israel. 4. Sven De Caluwé & God Dethroned on Human Devastation by Epica: I'm not sure how much contribution there is from the God Dethroned singer on this track but Sven from Aborted kills it on this pure HM-2 death metal track from symphonic metal titans Epica. Every song on their The Alchemy Project ep has incredible vocal and musical features but this is probably my favorite. 5. Martina Veronika Horváth on Vadak (Az átváltozás rítusai) by Thy Catafalque: Pretty much all Thy Catafalque songs include guest vocal and musical features, many of them returning from album to album, but Martina from atmospheric doom metal band The Answer Lies in the Black Void is probably my favorite feature. This song swings between ripping, fast-paced black metal parts and electronic, jazz, and folk parts and it's amazing with Martina's clean vocal feature being the icing on the cake. 6. Tim McIlrath on South for the Winter by Stephen Egerton: Descendants and All guitarist Stephen Egerton put out a solo record, The Seven Degrees of Stephen Egerton, that features a different punk vocalist singing on every track. Rise Against are my 2nd favorite all time band and Tim is so good as the vocalist on this song.
ICS vortex was the BASSIST in Dimmu Borgir for several albums, and he did many clean vocal parts lol. Which makes it funny that this is on a guest vocalist list haha.
The two best I can think of are Neil Fallon from Clutch on Blood and Thunder by Mastodon and Tom Waits on Tommy The Cat by Primus. Neither song exists without the feature part. I also really love Matt Skiba’s verse on What Happened? by H20.
Bo - it was actually Sen Dogg from Cypress Hill who actually went to HS with Dave Lombardo, Dave got him into Suicidal Tendencies saw the clip pop up on IG
Did you know that Progenies of the Great Apocalypse by Dimmu Borgir also features Abbath form Immortal? The main vocalist and Abbath are trading lines, but I never noticed until read it somewhere, but if you go back and listen you can hear it and tell which line is which even tho they are using very similar voices there
I know it’s probably stupid to actually care but it actually meant a lot to have that you gave the preface about people who have lost their fathers during the ad read. It always suck when you’re trying trying to listen to a podcast and get blasted with “your dad will love this gift and you suck if you don’t get it for him”
A few others that come to mind: Deftones - Headup (Max Cavalera) Heaven Shall Burn - Given in Death (female singer from Deadlock) Arkangel - "then" and Warpath 777 (Kickback) Stampin' Ground - United Blood cover (Knuckledust) Good Clean Fun - Song for The Ladies (?) 25 Ta Life - Bullet for Every Enemy (Hatebreed and others)
'Crack The Skye' was the 3rd of 7 features that Scott Kelly recorded with Mastodon! 'Diamond In The Witch House' being the top one, IMO. 'Aqua Dementia' is possibly the most well-known.
I fucking love Suffocation. Did not know George was on that album. No clue. Hardlore. I have never been able to get into that album. Colin has lit my path, lol.

Biohazard pic is an all time classic, cool that I Ain’t No Nice Guy got a mention, Slash also played the solo on it
Converge - Cruel Bloom (feat. Steve Von Till) isn't a guest feature per se as he basically sings the whole track, but it's an absolutely god tier song.

Also I know this podcast and probably most of its listeners don’t care about Deathcore but Black Tongue dear Eddie Hermida is one of the greatest and heaviest features of all time.
If I had a nickel for every time Patrick Stump gets a mention in this episode, I’d have two nickels but it’s odd that it happened twice.
Not that odd . The FOB guys came up in the Chicago hardcore scene .
Lol
He's also on a Misery Signals song lol

John Tardy and Glen Benton on Napalm Death’s song Unfit Earth…..easily one of the most iconic guest spots in death metal ever

Can confirm, Patrick is a rad guy. I grew up with him in Glenview before moving back to Detroit in 98. He is who you think he is fellas. 🖤🖤🖤
