Wayne, the camera and lighting in this video are great. I can actually see you and the true contours of your face without the lighting blowing you out. Thanks for these tips, they are extremely helpful.❤
@@WayneGossWayne, politics aside, I love Melania Trump’s eye makeup. Would love a tutorial on how to do that dark, smokey look. Thanks for all your great videos.
Thank you, Wayne! As an older woman, I have had a lot of trouble applying liquid foundations without them looking horrendously cakey. I'm going to try your techniques.
It’s so refreshing to see a video where you just get to the point and just get on with it . I have seen too many artists who just talk and talk …… rather than getting to the point . They just chat for the sake of it and it gets so boring . Thank you Wayne for keeping it short but sweet . Thank you 🙏

I remember watching you years back when I first started wearing makeup as a teenager and I still enjoy watching you so much! Thank you for continuously teaching us!
I agree the lighting & clarity is great on this video Thanks for the tips, I've always struggled with brushes but will try again after seeing this. Sometimes I need to see the basics being done, it really helps me. Thanks again for your straight to the point, no fluff videos Wayne. You're the best by far x
Thank you for this video! I have never been able to make a flat brush work , but will try this over the weekend. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. (This video really looks great from lighting to being able to see your skin and features and how the makeup applies.)
Thank you for this video Wayne. I needed a refresher on foundation application technique - i was literally looking through some of your old videos this morning! Nice to see you using your brushes too. You don't talk about them enough!
Ah yes, the good old triangle sponge. Many years ago my best friend became a make-up artist in “the biz” here in SoCal. When she was trained to use these sponges, so began my life’s journey with them. We went to Cinema Secrets to buy them in large bags. They came in rectangles, so we just cut them into triangles, and we were good to go. I still have my last bag from Cinema Secrets as my health declined I don’t do much make-up any more. But I have ‘em if I need ‘em! Lovely to see you talking about them in this vid. Thanks, Wayne, for my trip down memory lane. You’re the best. ❤️
Thank you for this! Great tools are nothing without the proper technique to use them. I also appreciate the mention of Alexis Vogel. I still have her DVD from way back when and the shadow shaper.
@@WayneGoss Wayne, which option do you think is better/more forgiven when we don´t find our exact shade: foundation a little bit lighther ou a little bit darker then our skin?
I don't know if you have time but do you have a video or recommendations to keep my age spots on my cheeks covered. My foundation, blush or contour seems to remove my cover up. 68 and just getting back into makeup. Can't afford the expensive stuff but I look for specials at the drugstore 👍😍🇨🇦🙏❤️ thanks so much for all your help and hard work 👍 ❤️ blessings from Ontario
Hi Wayne, thank you for doing this wonderful video, I still use those triangle sponges when applying lightweight skin tints or BB creams ,they just work better than regular makeup sponges. Love Katherine xoxo
You are my favourite make up artist and influencer. You know how to achieve a beautiful look but very natural, ourselves but better. I'm not feeling like wearing a mask. But about foundation, I will always use my fingers. I have a very sensitive face and even for hygienic reasons. I think that brushes and blenders should always be used clean and I don't have the time to always wash them nor I think it's ecological. All the famous brands advertise using foundation with fingers, it blends better and it melts faster.
I absolutely love this technique! I actually apply 2 different foundations w/ 2 different techniques, depending on which part of my face & current state of my skin. BC my forehead is smoother, but very oily, I apply a matte formula w/ a damp sponge. Rest of face, which is dryer w/ some texture, a satin or dewy formula is applied w/a brush. It sounds like a lot but I have it down pat now & it's what works for me.
I agree. Great hair! Thank you for the really comprehensive makeup application tutorial. I've been struggling. I'm no longer confused by all the different techniques that don't work for me. This brush technique is super easy. Success at last!
I have normal skin, not dry, but at 59 I have my share of fine lines. Using foundation is tricky - it can quickly go wrong no matter which technique I use (fingers, brush or sponge). Has anyone in my age range tried these brushes? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Don’t waste your money, for real. Just use your fingers and go as light as you can stand. (I’m 55) I sometimes will only use a bit of concealer in a few places but no foundation. Foundation just looks terrible on older skin.
Lightweight Formula, like a sheer, buildable foundation is ideal, as it provides coverage without feeling heavy or cakey, which can emphasize wrinkles. Also, prep is key, after your morning moisturising routine, try a primer. Hope this helps xx
@@MaineMichellecan understand your point of view. for me, almost 72yrs young, make up has been and is an almost lifelong friend. important is to not keep doing same old, cause that won't work. Less Is More, and applied in ways like Wayne describes. believe me, every day i am more happy with myself by just using a touch of make up, including one of my many foundations 😊
I'm 66 and agree, foundation can be tricky. I've found a damp beauty blender works for me after dotting on foundation as shown. I also sometimes add a drop or two of Iconic London Underflow blurring primer to my foundation prior to application.
I’m 60 with normal skin also, I use the brush technique Wayne showed with makeup or sometimes concealer just dotting it all over my face and it works great. The key is not to use much product and slowly build it up as you need in certain areas. The Wayne Goss White Gold Collection brushes with synthetic bristles (not the ones he’s using in this video) are so soft and work very well with this technique, surprisingly affordable as well ❤
Brushes r great for applying makeup my sisters do it that way. When I learnt to do makeup we always used one of those triangle sponges, these days I use a beauty blender and dot it over my face and put more coverage if I need it. Oh a damp beauty blender as well. Thanks great video ❤❤❤
Oh, thank you for the tutorial! I bought your F4 brush and loved it, but wondered why my results weren't marvellous. It's the dry skin! I shall give it a good washing and pass it on to a friend - it truly is a magnificent brush! Love all my Wayne Goss brushes!

That’s extremely kind of you to say and very generous. Believe me, I have my moments, my partner will confirm that 😂 have a lovely day darling and thank you for your support xx
Omg I used to use those sponges in my 20’s now I’m having trouble with my foundation application now in my 60’s tried so many different brushes not working for me. I have dry skin and wrinkles lol everything just goes in the creases and then my skin looks horrible. I have been watching your videos for so many years now😊I don’t know if you remember walking outside talking and taping your videos 😊Thanks for sharing your tips 😊
Questions again, I hope you don't mind! One - can I do the first brush application with either foundation or concealer for everyday, minimum coverage? Two - powder or setting spray - do I need these after I apply my foundation/concealer, or can I skip for a more minimal look? Thank you in advance :)
Of course you can use your brush and as regards to setting spray or powder, that depends whether or not you have an oily skin or wanting your foundation to last all day. In that case, I would use the setting spray/powder. Xx
Look for foundations containing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and squalane, which help lock in moisture and keep the skin hydrated throughout the day and use your fingertips. I hope this helps you lovely! Xx
Thanks for this. I have dry skin and foundation always looks terrible when I use a brush. I just figured that was my my skin. I'll have to try some different application methods. Recommendations welcome.
BTW you look great! I don't know what set up you're using to shoot this video. But everything from the lighting and the background and your clothing... Just everything!
Thanks so much!! I just got a beautiful Patrick Ta foundation that I LOVE- my skin tends to get dry by the end of the day, and this is very emollient. But I'm struggling to find the best way to apply it, as it's nothing like my old drugstore brand foundation.
Would you say the sponge is best for dry skinned people? I struggle with foundation application, both in terms of texture but also getting the right amount of coverage. I basically use a light weight moisturiser before makeup and apply foundation but it looks subpar most of the time. Great video Wayne 🎉
You look great, thank you for the information. Take care and stay safe. Hope you are having some good days. Hello to your husband have a great weekend, relax and enjoy.
