Thanks for the work. I'm tuning my Cycle7. I prefer a naked, foamless board, but it was quite thin. I added the case foam and now I'm getting some feels.
You tried the rubber thingies without foam? That helped a lot for my no foam config.
@@Akeynote I used the little tadpoles. Without the foam, the sounds wasn't as loud as I like. I used Clackbits switches, which sounded better with foam. I'm guessing that a louder switch may have been fine without foam.

Thanks for the review, the clackbit switches are goated!! Such a great full clacky sound!! I’m super intrigued by those flex cut covers, maybe for manufacturers who only want to offer one PCB, this can become a regular offering (in the same vein as case, plate, and PE foam). Appreciate the commentary on the sound tests! I admit I’m much more concerned about horizontal rather than vertical space, so FRL TKLs have never appealed to me, but it’s great to see this uncommon layout at a more affordable price point!

I didn't. But I used 1.6 stabs and they fit fine. So I’m going to assume it’s 1.6 lol

Hi, I hesitate between this cycle7 and the QK80, which is the best for a foam keyboard?
I would say this one, but I like the 80’s space bar more
what do you think about the 7u space not is not south facing, and the mods too?
???? I didn’t even notice it wasn’t south facing lol. I also didn’t notice any clearance issues in any of the setups. Only 2 mods on R1 are north . Again no issues. Also I’m a frequent split backspace user and almost all of these are always north facing on HS PCB’s to accommodate south facing regular backspace
Tofu pointed out that the volume of the board is quieter, would you agree or disagree? That's my biggest concern because I like a loud board.

With No foam yes, it can be quiet if your not using long poles. I think tofu didn’t build it with the pcb inserts either. That setup would be crazy airy.

So a well tailored video, I have so far watched multiple videos of cycle 7 but this is me finding out for the first time that the light block/bar incorporates the same color as the weight
I'm going to the rock the same switches and planning to do super clacky build, what do you reckon? No foam? Or should I just the plate foam like you suggested in the video?
Because I'm going to solder my switches, there is no coming back

When was the hate on flex cuts started? ISTG, a few months ago everybody was raving about it and now every RUclipsr hates it lol.
Right after the Jelly Epoch and Mr Suit, it just became so repetitive, and like most reviewers said: They don’t even test the flex cuts, they just do it because it’s trending. There are so many boards, that have proven that you don’t need excessive flex cuts to make a soft feeling board

I built my cycle7 the other night and I have to say, the PE foam makes this board sound like shit. All other foams without the PE and you are good to go.

@@Akeynote I guess. Maybe I'd think different if I had it in person, but I think it'd be more interesting to say its a flex cut pcb that doesn't sound thin at that point. I think there's too much negative stigma around having flex cuts, but pcbs with 1 or 2 flex cuts on the outside of the alphas don't sound that thin ime.
