Dude was 19 when he wrote that masterpiece that Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not. It's unbelievable because it sounds great and is a lyrically brilliant album.
He still had most of those songs written in 2004, they were playing gigs in 2003 already

Ali agcabay actually he is. He’s no longer the shy boy. He’s still reserved and introverted but he has acquired a stage personality that allows him to perform and face the press without retreating into himself. He’s not a 17 yo boy anymore
@@bizbitmişizabi i think he just puts on a character for the stage so it's more comfortable for him since he's said before he's not really a born performer. i kinda get the impression that if he could have his success while staying in the studio he would but like he's gotta do what it takes i guess lol
This Alex was absolutely wonderful. And full offense, so is the “current” Alex. People change, it’s natural. I don’t think it’s arrogance, but perhaps confidence. Alex knows what he is doing, he’s not this same kid who has been introduced to the cusps of “fame.”
And being confident is actually very important, there's a difference between confidence and arrogance.

I’ll always love this man. He’s the sweetest thing in this world. Maybe i’ts a bit shoking when you find him so shy on the interviews, but when you listen to his songs and lyrics you just... Wow. He’s so expressive. He’s art.

He seems so gentle in real life but his singing is extremely powerful
Of course he's not so humble anymore, it's been over 6 years since girls started wailing over him. Everyone changes as they grow, it would be a bit odd for him to be almost 30 and still acting like this.

Everyone needs to shut the fuck up about him seeming "arrogant" now. This was years ago, when they just started out as a band. Obviously with more success, he's gonna mature and be more proud of their work. He doesn't HAVE to stay a shy little humble guy, he's allowed to be proud of all their success. So just shutup and enjoy how fucking adorable he is in this interview, okay?

I think he is a bit arrogant. Im not saying we should all hate him for that. I think being arrogant is not a good thing but if he is, theres nothing we can do about it, you know. He's speech at the brits was horrible to be really honest but we dont even know the guy, maybe it was a joke. So no one actually knows if he's arrogant or not. He seems to be but again, if he is, there isnt much we can do.

Maze Runner Historically they've never taken the Brits seriously, so I would take it as a joke, as dickish as it seemed.

I realized recently that even back then he was much more wiser and stronger person than his appearance suggested. Both character wise and in terms of dealing with all the circus surrounding the band. Key sign of a great artist and human being.
In this interview I love the most that he shows us a bit of his natural, nice personality. You've mentioned when he's on picking up the cards.. he looks so excited like a kid he is adorable :D
People could be proud of having musicians like Alex in this world now... because the Arctics and of course The Last Shadow Puppets are convincingly ace.
It’s hard to believe that he was 22 here.. he looks 16/17! I’m watching this in 2021 and this video was 13 years ago so 2021-13= 2008. Alex is currently 35 so 35 - 13 = 22... Woah. He shall be handsome forever tho :)

its actually not his personality, its just being worn out, i dont know if you have any idea how tough and tiring it is to travel every day, country to country, playing gigs till 1 am and getting up at 6 to get to the next gig.. its unreal, im not surprised he seems so tired

This came out when I was a baby and my mum watched it cos she's fucking obsessed with arctic monkeys...like me...
Back then, Arctic Monkeys had a similar level of success as Oasis with their first two albums. But unlike Oasis, they were not "instant" rock stars. They came across as raw and naive and unprepared for rock star life. Alex didn't have that much star quality or charisma or sexiness... but look at him now!
I really like this alex, I can actually relate with him in some way. Can’t put my finger on what exactly. I guess it’s just that he feels so down to Earth y’know.

Talking with Alex has to be the most terrible thing. You can't understand him, you don't even know if he speaks English. Most of the time he just mumbles. "mumbling... i dunno... mumbling mumbling... yeah... i dunno".

I agree with you. I don't find him good-looking or attractive in a fysical way, but his intelligence, music and talent attracts me in a way that I would love to meet him or interview him. I've got a lot of respect for the man.
