- My name is Chrome i have been living in y cargo van for 6 years now. I started this lifestyle BROKE and IN DEBT and after 11 months of living the van life i cleared my debt and started to put my life back together and build for a better future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years i went from being broke and stealth camping in the city and sleeping at walmarts... to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van and driving deep off-grid into the backcountry and living life in the dirt. WOW LIFE HAS CHANGED.

Walmart is smart for allowing this. At least a percentage of those folks parked there will come in and buy food and supplies, in exchange for space that would otherwise be unused. Hopefully they just kick out those that abuse it and not all others.

Chrome check your oil, color & level.
More often than not, those quick oil change places say they did the work, when they didn't do anything, or they drained yours n didn't put any in.
Yes I saw that a guy showed you new oil on the dipstick, it's not hard to dip the stick into a bottle of oil to show new on the stick.
You're best off doing the oil change yourself, you know that it's actually done, done right, and that the plug n filter aren't loose n leaking.

I have been traveling all over America & Canada for 59 years, and yes, this includes all the traveling my family did when I was just a kid in the 1960's & 70's.... I ventured off on my own in the 80's, and ya, we had NO cell phones or computers back then, so I did want was normal of the time (paper maps, road signs, using a compass & navigating by the sun & stars).

The island must get inundated with van lifers once it also starts to cool down into the winter months. All those out here in the prairies(Snowbirds) probably migrate there. Because of all those broke down and long term buses at Walmart they stop allowing overnight. Chilliwack did that 2 years back.

Whenever get a place to say change oil not a bad idea to right after pull over make sure oil plug there & tight. Then that end of day after engine cools check oil level.

Walmart might do well to commission a survey/method.
Learn how much each overnight stay vehicle spends in their store.
Have a question on the card payment screen asking if the customer is going to/has that day overnight in their parking lot.
That information combined with the known purchase, would be interesting.

Warning: Science Nerd Moment Incoming:
The murkiness you're seeing in those lakes *is* from being glacier-fed. The phenomenon's called "glacial flour", and it's made of extremely finely ground minerals that have been suspended in glacial freezes for a gazillion years. The rivers down here by Mt. Rainier have that same thing, and it's really cool to catch some of the water from the river and let it settle -- you can see all the stratification layers from all the types of minerals on the mountain, since they're all of varying weights and settle at different rates. :)

When I travel the trans canada my favorite walmart parking lot is in Dryden Ontario. Tim hortons across the street and it's close to getting back on the hwy. That's heading east. Opposite on the way home

I'm surprised you didn't say anything about the white van @2:20 with the huge box for an extended roof.
You did NO maintenance at all while you were at the shop. Oil change, chk the brakes pads, change the belts, or at least pickup some extra parts. If you plan on driving thru the back country, I would pick up some air filters.
AC units: I was wondering if you are going to look into a portable automotive air conditioners for those Vans that don't have air conditioning? and then maybe sell them in your shop. You always seem to research and find the best products. Something that can run off a portable power source and/or usb port

They banning sleeping in your vehicle all over America :( especially with Supreme Court ruling saying city and towns doing a no camping ban on the homeless isn’t against the constitution! This includes living in a vehicle

It’s getting harder everywhere. 😢 I feel for those that are really trying to just live and work and be relatively free from debt or getting out of debt like Chrome did. Then there are those that park and build patios, seriously!
Wrong they are stopping encampments that kept setting up in parks and roadsides. Not individuals parking short term where parking is allowed. There is a previous Supreme Court decision regarding sleeping in a vehicle which they upheld Martin v City of Boise. This decision is regarding those making tent cities and encampments in public areas.
