- I meant to mention it in the video but I forgot! I found this Walmart by using a website that has a map that says which Walmarts allow overnight parking. I will see if I can find it again and I will let you guys now what it is!

I sleep in my car in a Walmart parking lot 3-4 nights a week and I see many other vehicle dwellers staying overnight as well and security circles the parking lot throughout the night and I’ve never had an issue. Walmart closes pretty late and opens really early and there are employees working in the store overnight so they all park in the parking lot too. Walmart parking lots make me feel the safest
Same Walmart 5 years. FIVE YEARS!! And they could care less.

Rowan, it's not Walmart that's becoming less friendly, it's towns. Our Walmart doesn't allow spending the night because our city made it illegal to sleep in your vehicle. Walmart wants you there so you can buy stuff.
I feel a kind of kindred companionship with you. I’m a widow almost 2 years and being alone is hard but you make me feel cozy cause you’re doing everything on your own and very positive and cheery contagious laugh. So many nights I’m comforted tuning into your cheery interesting adventures. ❤ Stay safe
I understand how you feel. Not a widow, but been divorced from a very bad man for decades now. No kids and can be very lonely. I too enjoy seeing others make the best of their circumstance. And I agree, it's comforting know we're not alone being alone

Me too widow of nearly 5 years. It does get easier as the years go by but you're not the same person and there are still hard days. I feel the same about these videos. They're comforting. All the best to you.

Save your gallon bottles to use them as refills. Walmart as self dispensing filter water for 33 cents.

I was coming to the comments to say this same thing! Most grocery stores have a refillable station for your containers and those gallons would be great!!
i would refill jugs anywhere to use cleaning water. peppermint bronner liquid soap use body cleaning and dishes. omg feels like heaven

I've parked at many Wal-Mart's. Never had a problem. It is nice to have a safe place to park and groceries near by! No stealth. It's ok. They know you are there.

So glad you & Ruby found each other; not only is she the sweetest little companion on the road & Very Goodest Girl; but I'm sure as she grows she'll increase your sense of safety. My dog gives me a feeling of security; she's really sweet but she's protective of me too. A good dog is the best friend you could have 🤗🐶
It's good that you reward Ruby with kind words and favorite things when she does something you want to see repeated.
Besides Walmart, there are also Cracker Barrels and Home Depot, both of which also allow overnight parking for RVers, vandwellers, etc. I've even stayed overnight in a police station parking lot after asking if it was okay.
Good advice. However, not all communities allow that. A few years ago we tried HD and Walmart in Oakland and were told no... Oakland rule. We moved on north.
Can't stay at any of those places in my area. All gone.

Walmart is the best place to stock up on your groceries and water supply. Also a good way for saying thank you for letting me sleep here last night.
Ruby is such a wonderful companion for you. Not to mention she is absolutely adorable! I hope she gets enough exercise. It must be a little hard for you to take her on long walks everyday. I enjoy watching you two interact. It’s obvious that Ruby adores you! 😊

I'm not sure if there are Cabela's/Bass Pro Shops in your region,
but they are flexible about people traveling using their parking lot overnight. I worked at the store in Augusta, GA for almost 4yrs and people with campers/RV's would ask to use it. The manager always said yes, just park at the end of the lot. So customers had the spaces closer to the store. A lot of times people parked, walked their dogs and shopped. I watch one channel regularly and the young man who has a car, uses a Walmart every night. He's pretty organized too. Your van is so cute, I really love the way you decorated it. The spice rack, books, the curtains and lights. I would gladly live in your van.
Yes that one let's you stay does the one in I believe it's gwinette County ga as well that let's u park ans stay too I live in covington GA
We just stayed in a Cabelas in Massachusetts west of Boston. Friendly people, no problem letting us stay. Cool store to spend time exploring, and they allow dogs in the store.
When your pup was on the bed with you while you were writing in your book, I felt the love you two have for each other. Great moment. It got me choked up! 🥹

Yes, I compared prices this time to, I'm in New Zealand. Groceries are very expensive here, even Australia is cheaper...

We have always parked at Cracker Barrel's! Love them! They have single serve yummo's you can order and enjoy in your vehicle/home! Stayed at Walmart also, just have to be aware of Home Depots and their loud music so no one stays in their lots! They are usually by walmarts and/or Craker Barrels! Glad your experience was good your 1st time. Love watching you and Ruby!! ❤
I’ve never seen a home depot near a Cracker Barrel or a Walmart before 😂 but something funny that I’ve seen growing up is that my grandparents house is right in between a Home Depot and a Lowe’s. One on one side and the other on the other side. I used to get woken up in the morning by Home Depot’s beeping noises since the room I stayed in is always on that side😂 they have horses and a track all around their property then trees on both sides
They are close together in Lincoln Ne.on the same road withi in blocks of each other.

I can assure you that Walmart will not wake you in the middle of the night simply bcuz they r not open 24hrs. But they won't hesitate to rap on your door 1st thing in the morning. The one I stay at in fed.way wa also marks your tires. Keep up the good work, we luv your vids!

Action in the middle of the night and cars with loud music going around the parking lot happens for apartment dwellers too. Glad you found a safe and relatively quiet place to rest. Bummer on the Netflix.
Oh oh! For the little wooden shelf thing, Command strips velcro would hold it onto the shelf! I work at farmers markets, and we use the strips to keep a rack full of earrings from blowing away.

You can share the cucumber 🥒 and carrots 🥕 with Rubes. My dog loves them. Also Walmart carries cauliflower wraps but not that big. Have a great night at Walmart ❤

I've had 99% good experiences at Walmart. So I have immense gratitude toward them. Esp. at the beginning when I was a newbie and still pretty nervous @ the whole car dwelling experience.

You're right some Walmarts won't allow over nights anymore. But some that have the no overnight signs, if you can talk to a manager they might let you stay..
I’ve heard van dwellers say they go into a Walmart and ask if they can park there overnight. Maybe that would ease your anxiety about staying at Walmarts.

I have a projector for my van and if you have an Iphone, you might need this adapter “Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter” like I did and then it’ll allow you to watch streaming channels f rom your phone. My projector came with the same mesh screen like yours so we might have similar ones. I love your new van! I enjoy staying at Walmarts when there’s nothing else scenic around. Usually there’s other motorhomes and semi’s, so it makes me feel safe to know there’s others near me. Safe travels! Thank you for welcoming us into your van life. It’s very relaxing and entertaining.

When we were still traveling (6 - 8 yrs. ago), we bought an atlas showing all of the Walmarts across the country. Things DEFINITELY have changed, though. LOVE how your RV is going, and Ruby is growing up!!
I use one of those Crystal Geyser bottles to collect my grey water (and mouthwash after toothbrushing) since I don't use the grey water tank on my van. I keep it in the bathroom and use it to flush (because I also don't use my clean water tank). Right before the dump station, if there's space I will pour the grey water into the toilet. Learning lots from the vanlife community. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
My dog Doc reacts every time Ruby squeaks her toy. We must have Ten of them. He loves to squeak squeak them too!

I was thinking about you several times recenty- because of my birthday falling in strawberry season, I have always tended to be a strawberry b'day girl and this year, we made strawberry ice cream AND strawberry shortcake (and I bought strawberry milk) AND i ran into a woman at the grocery store in a Strawberry Shortcake t-shirt. All the strawbs reminded me of Rowan and Ruby!

I really enjoy watching your videos, especially since you got Ruby. Just please make sure she gets enough exercise. Long walks n learning to play fetch n maybe frisbee. On line you can learn how to teach her different tricks. That learning really stimulates their mind which in turn tires them out. Also sniffing outdoors will fulfill her needs n tire her out. They say 5 minutes of sniffing equals a 15 minute walk She's a beautiful dog. Enjoy enjoy. God bless you both 🙏❤️

Wonder if you can go somewhere for the day and come back and stay another 24 hours in a different spot? If so I would try that for a few days… and just relax. Oh there the dog goes again with the squeaky toy so funny
We stayed in a Cabelas parking lot during the recent heatwave. They were very friendly, easy to get a 'permission slip' for free camping (just so they know who is there...the website for each store says if that store allows overnight parking: "RV friendly"). They had no problem with us and our 2 dogs wandering the store then finding their camp chairs display and 'testing out' camp chairs in the air conditioned store until it cooled down outside. Very interesting place with the animal displays and huge gamefish tank. We had a nice night, except for the truck emptying the big trash bin nearby early in the morning, but hey, it's free.
