When I was a child, my curiosity for exploring the unknown was boundless. One day, a friend introduced me to the thrill of venturing into abandoned military sites-bunkers, communication centres, towers, and the like. After visiting several of these haunting places, our small group was hooked, and we heard whispers of a forsaken military town. Without hesitation, we planned the trip, gathered supplies, packed our gear, and boarded a bus. Three hours of driving and another four trekking through dense forest brought us to our destination.
The town had a distinct Soviet-era feel, with its typical five-storey buildings and stark architecture. But after more than 20 years of abandonment, the slow decay had given it a sinister beauty, as if the place itself had been forgotten by time. Nature had claimed much of it, lending the town an unsettling, ghostly atmosphere.
With daylight still on our side, we explored a bunker and several recreation buildings-a decrepit sports centre with a basketball court, a long-abandoned café, and a few forgotten technical facilities.
As the sun began its descent, casting long shadows across the crumbling structures, we chose a building in the heart of the town to shelter for the night. We set up on the fifth floor, in what was once a two-bedroom flat, complete with a balcony that overlooked the eerie emptiness below. From that vantage point, we could see the entire city, isolated in the middle of nowhere. The sun finally disappeared, and the oppressive blackness swallowed everything. The weight of it pressed on us, an unshakable feeling that something wasn't right. None of the five of us could escape the creeping unease.
We cooked a meagre dinner on a camp stove, trying to distract ourselves with stories. Eventually, sleep took us, though rest was fleeting. At dawn's first light, we awoke, packed quickly, and left that forsaken place behind-never to return.

I remember when a few friends and I decided to spend the night at the old Säter mental hospital in Sweden. The place was supposed to be abandoned, just a creepy spot to test our nerves. At first, it was all fun-joking around, exploring the eerie halls. But after midnight, things got strange.
We were lying in our sleeping bags when we heard footsteps in the hallway. At first, we laughed it off, thinking it was just one of us playing a prank. But then the footsteps kept going, slow and dragging, like someone was limping through the dark.
We went quiet, staring at each other. The sound stopped right outside our room. None of us moved. We just listened, barely breathing.
Eventually, we couldn’t take it anymore. We grabbed our stuff and bolted, not daring to open that door. We didn’t stay to see what-or who-was on the other side.
Later, we found out that it’s common for locals to sneak into the hospital to scare anyone trying to spend the night. But honestly, I’m still not sure if that’s what we heard... or if something else was lurking in those halls.

I shit you not (pun intended), I have been sucked outside the ship when sitting on the throne during QT travel. It made me stop and think for 30 seconds before bursting out laughing at the thought, that I just got sucked out the toilet, and spat into deep space, while my ship happily continued on it's own to the destination station. You could say I was caught with my pants down.

As a kid, I remember watching Alien and being terrified. Soon after, I went camping in the mountains, and one night, I heard something at a nearby stream. My imagination ran wild, thinking of the movie’s creatures, but it turned out to be a mountain lion quietly drinking water. The fear from the film and the real-life encounter with the puma made that night unforgettable!

"Haute Tension" An excellent French genre film like few others. Alexandre Aja brings his touch of anguish and carnage without there being anything to complain about, apart from perhaps a few run-ons. In my opinion, the final twist is very good, and doesn't need to make much sense. There's no point deconstructing every scene to try and find inconsistencies when you really understand the story. All the ingredients are here: isolated house, dark night, sadistic killer, young students, gory and creepy scenes... The terror and anguish are there at every moment, and you're really hooked. The acting is top-notch, and the staging is meticulous, breathtaking and inventive. The 3 main actors are very good, the atmosphere is as anxiety-inducing as possible, and the sound effects add to the sense of unease.

Favorite horror movie is a tie between Alien and Event Horizon. There is just something about bad stuff happening in space. There is literally no escape. It is claustrophobic, while at the same time so lonely and empty and wide open. Knowing that there are things in the darkness that you do not understand that are after you with its only desire is to end you or use you to further its own existence, and there is very little you can do to stop it. The atmosphere, the tension, the slow burn of these movies is just the chef's kiss. Nice video!

When I was a kid there was this show airing on tv here in Australia called Jeopardy which was a sort of found footage UFO experience show where a group of Scottish students went out into the bush looking for aliens and went missing. As a kid the mix of disjointed found footage clips of panicked teenagers trying to survive alongside the eerie happenings throughout the show mindf*cked my child brain and really gave me this sense of creepy immersion and made me feel just as confused as the characters seemed.

"Apollo 18" was the first horror movie I ever saw, and one of my favorites. It's not the scariest, but I love quiet, atmospheric horror: there's not a sound, and nothing happens while you expect something... Being stuck hundreds of thousands of kilometers from Earth, with little to no communications on a silent "Sea of Tranquility", when you think there might be something out there... that's something.

I grew up watching a lot of science fiction horror movies and even though I was way too young to see them back then, they were and still are my favorites.
The most memorable are these films:
    - Event Horizon
    - Alien
    - Pitch Black
    - Species
It's not a special experience in particular but the general feeling that these films trigger is always a nice kick.

My Dad once took my sister (6) and I (11) through what was then billed as "The worlds scariest Haunted House" somewhere in Tennessee, late 1970s. Nearly every room ended with a blackout, a loud bang, then sudden strobe lights, loud noises, and the actors right in the group with you (Usually with a chain saw running). It was terrifying. By the end of the House, my little sister was completely wrapped around my Dad's head, as that was as high as she could climb, and I had a nice collection of belt loops, that were once on my Dad's jeans.

Great review of the Anvil Terrapin! The breakdown of its utility, defense capabilities, and role in exploration made me appreciate its design even more. The emphasis on its durability and how it stands out among other exploration ships is spot on. Star Citizen has always amazed me with its attention to detail, and the Terrapin is no exception. Thank you for the concise yet insightful review! I would love to experience the Terrapin firsthand in my own adventures across the verse!
Also, as a big fan of horror, I couldn't help but think of the Anvil Terrapin like the 'USCSS Nostromo' from Alien, built tough for survival in the unknown. One of my favorite horror experiences was going through the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios-it had this perfect balance of fear and fun! Much like how exploring Star Citizen's universe with the Terrapin could give off that same feeling of being on edge in the vast unknown.

One of my recent favorite movies about space horror/thriller is "Slingshot". Even though it wasnt received very well, i like the fact that it, like some other movies, picks up on the isolation during long distance journeys in space and how the isolation just messes with your mind sooner or later. Perfect recreation potential with the Terrapin tbh.
As for old horror movies "Event Horizon" is one of my favorites and one of the first space horror movies i've seen so it take a special place, as humanity creates something to explore space better/faster but messes up and gets literally a ship from hell, always intrigued me what humanity would do with that knowledge, continue with that same technology and try to master it and see where it leads us or just stop exploration at all (well we know humanity at that point would find an alternative at some point, cause we always do find an alternative)

I grew up as a fan of some of the most iconic slasher films. Halloween, Friday the 13th, etc. Every time without fail, I was rooting for the evil dude.
At first I thought it was just 'cause they made the average survivors either dumb or flat out unlikable, but I was wrong.
I knew this because when I watched IT (2017), despite the fact I liked and related with quite a few of the kids, I felt genuine sadness and empathy towards Pennywise when he got ganged up, deflated and defeated by them.
That is when I realized that deep down, I didn't like horror because it was thrilling and got my adrenaline pumping.
I liked horror because I am the horror.
_Not a sociopath I swear. Give me all the villains' power and I'll still remain chaotic neutral._

Favorite horror movie that I was brave enough to watch only once was "Shutter: They Are Around Us" US title also known as "Shutter" from 2014. This move gave me chills from the first minutes till the end and many jump scares! It even made me check on all of my family pictures if I'm not hunted myself! The movie is about guy named TUN and his girlfriend JANE that had a car accident while going back from some party - she hit somebody on the road back home and they decide to run from the scene...
Tun begins to discover mysterious white shadows and faces in his photographs. Jane thinks that these images may be the ghost of the girl they hit. Tun, who has been experiencing severe neck pains since the accident, visits a specialist and is dismayed to find that his weight is double his regular weight. He dismisses the idea of being haunted, though his friends are also being disturbed by this mysterious entity...
The movie is quite old but believe me I'm not gonna rewatch this! It's too hard! And there is a remake version but not as scary as original version from Thailand! It's solid 9/10!
And GL to whoever wins the turtle!

One of my favorite horror films is “Hereditary” (2018), directed by Ari Aster. Watching this film was an unforgettable experience for me, blending psychological horror with supernatural elements to create an atmosphere of relentless dread.
Why “Hereditary” is exceptional to me:
Unsettling Atmosphere: From the very beginning, I felt a sense of unease that never let up. The use of sound, lighting, and camera angles all contributed to a feeling that something was deeply wrong, keeping me on the edge of my seat.
Complex Characters: The characters were richly developed, particularly Toni Collette’s portrayal of Annie, a mother grappling with grief and family secrets. Her performance was both heartbreaking and terrifying, making the horror feel personal and real to me.
Psychological Depth: The film delves into themes of family trauma, mental illness, and the inescapable nature of fate. This added layers of meaning to the horror, making it more than just a series of scares and resonating deeply with me.
Shocking Moments: “Hereditary” is known for its shocking and unexpected moments that stayed with me long after the film ended. These scenes were not just for shock value but were integral to the story and character development, leaving a lasting impression.
Supernatural Elements: The film gradually introduced supernatural elements in a way that felt organic and inevitable, leading to a climax that was both horrifying and tragic. This seamless blend of reality and the supernatural made the experience even more chilling.

My favorite horror movie is FROM, from the creators of LOST. One of the most acclaimed horror films of recent times, as even according to many people the film can give you chills at many moments. The situation where one is not afraid of jumpscars, but the situation where something strange happens. A dead person calls, someone who doesn't exist and interacts based on the situation of the person who answered the phone. The show pulls on an atmosphere that is calm, but can take a turn in one scene and you start to wonder what to expect in the next scene. Beautiful interpersonal relationships where the viewer develops a parasocial relationship with the character and hopes that the person survives and if not, it can break the viewer. A series where every character is important in some way and when they die there, it emotionally hits the viewer. I recommend watching it.

The most terrifying experience of my life occurred one cold November day. It was 10:00 p.m. and some friends and I were at the new house of one of them. As usual, I went to the bathroom to relieve myself. Once there I made myself comfortable and sat on the toilet bowl. But I didn't imagine what was about to happen... The light started to flicker, very, very strange noises started to sound. I was so scared that the poop wouldn't come out. Until all of a sudden... Boom. The light came back on and there was no toilet paper left... I couldn't believe it, it was there before, what had happened? There has always been my goto Horror that truly stuck with me since i was a kid, Nightmare on Elm Street. It made me check under my bed at night, scared to take baths and general fear of gardeners. The sheer fear i felt i can not put into words. Now as a adult, i still respect the fear it gave me and i still enjoy the film(s). Now as a bit of a mix, Lawnmower man. That film scared the living hell out of me. Scifi Horror, a good mix!. Now my all time favourite put many categories into one, Event Horizon . What a underrated movie. Scifi, Horror, slasher, psychological, it ticks all the boxes. Truly my film i would always watch, every year.
I guess that is why i like the movie, Aliens. Sure i loved the original but Aliens just had a good mix for what i wanted.

My favourite horror experience happened when I was a kid. I was watching The Ring by myself one night. Which was my first horror movie, btw (that sh*t was mad scary back in the day). A family friend (and neighbour) found out I was watching it through my parents. She waited until I had passed the scene where you’re forced to watch the actual video that kills you. She called the house, I answered
    “Hello?”
    “…(long pause)……Seven days”
I nearly died on the spot.
    I haven’t watched a horror movie since.

My horror story in a Terrapin was when I took one out for a test drive during IAE a couple years ago, and ended up at a MicroTech outpost when someone’s VHRT bounty mission spawned ontop of me!
Imagine trying to run from three NPC Vanguard Wardens and Hurricanes.. I tried low-flying but couldn’t shake them, so tried to QT out - so a slow flight to 10,000 metres while getting peppered to death. Yeah, it is not a dogfighter.

I first saw "Event Horizon" playing on late night TV when I was far too young, and it absolutely traumatised little me. Then I finally went back and re-watched it some years later and was blown away by how amazing it is, from the set design and gore to the story, themes and surprisingly well executed elements of cosmic horror, easily went from a scared-sh*tless/10 to a 10/10 in my books!

The only thing that's missing to reach gold standard on the terrapin would be access to physical internal cargo. All other features are long implemented.
Also for it's intended use case it only needs one hot bunk: you fly it at a border, shut down engines and other non required systems so that your signature is near zero and then you just sit there... Observing... Listening...
And high tail once vanduul activity is detected.
I love that the terrapin finally got it's first paint.

The Exorcist is often considered the best horror movie due to its groundbreaking special effects, intense performances, and chilling narrative. It delves into themes of possession, faith, and the battle between good and evil, creating a truly terrifying and unforgettable cinematic experience.

My favorite horror experience was an horror themed escape game in Amsterdam called "Amsterdam Catacombs". It takes place in the basement of an actual church so it's a great immersion, especially with one of the staff member role-playing as a priest guiding the players. 10/10 would recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam

My favourite horror experience has probably been playing Phasmophobia with friends in VR when it was first released. I've always liked the idea of visiting a haunted area and exploring it with friends, and the game simulated that to an extent. Playing in VR heightened the experience and made it feel like being in a horror movie.

I'm a big fan of horror and don't find many of them very scary anymore but one movie that stuck with me my whole life, from watching it around 8 years old to my 50's is Jaws. Every time i swim in the ocean i hear those 2 John Williams notes somewhere at the back of my mind. Watching the movie now some 40 odd years later its very tame by todays standards but something that can stick in your head for a lifetime, that's true horror.

One of my favorite all time is the first Alien film, its stands out for its atmospheric horror, building tension and the fear of the unknown slowly. Many modern horror films rely on jump scares and CGI, Alien uses silence, isolation, and creature design to create a palpable sense of menace, with psychological horror at its core. A masterpiece in my opnion.😎

I have a personal ghost story to share.
Years ago, I was talking to someone in my house in the middle of the front hallway, lights where on, and for some reason, I froze and stopped talking to them, and in the corner of my eye a saw what looked like a person made of black mist walk behind me down the hall, and for the entire duration of this I couldn't move.
After I didn't see the shadow figure anymore, I was able to move again, and I asked my friend (who also couldn't move)
    "Did you see that?"
And they described exactly what I saw without me even describing what I saw.
From that day forward, me and my friend started to believe in ghosts.

Okay so, my best horror experience has got to be Phasmophobia in VR. The game itself is already great, but in VR?! Oh brother, it's a whole new level of scare and I'm all for it. With friends it's even better because they don't realise how different it is to experience the game with a VR headset....until you invite them over and make them try it themselves 🤣

I watched "A Nightmare on Elm Street" for the first time, all alone in the basement of my parent's house. Nobody else was home. All of the lights were off and after the credits rolled, the tape went to white noise on the screen. I didn't want to get up and cross the room to turn it off, I was just a little freaked out. The series became a joke, but the when the first one came out, it was awesome.

    A true horror experience:
I went on a cruise as a child, I was snorkeling in a tropical reef as a day activity, (never swam in the ocean before this) the vibrant colors so up close and in your face, exactly like all the documentaries, all the live and movement... well I was captivated, I kept swimming further and further, unannounced to me I, was swimming out onto a point. I was so consumed by the activity and sensory overload that I swam off the point the sheer cliff gave way and I was floating over what could only be described as perfect nothing. The vibrant warm tropical blue water gave way to a pale green, to dark green to a deathly black abyse. I was not afraid of a shark, or some squid or sea monster coming out of there to get me. It was the nothing itself, the absence was wht was going to take me. It was the only times in my life I was physically frozen with fear. I just stared into it convinced it was going to take me, I dont know how lon I was there, could have been seconds or minutes to be honest. But it felt like time lasted as long as it was deep.
Anyway, love the channel @EvenLease keep it up man.

I'm really not very much a fan of horror as an adult, but as a kid I used to absolutely love reading the Goosebumps books so I'm gonna count that haha. I doubt there's a single book in the entire main series I didn't read, thanks to my public library in the 90s, though I only owned a few myself. My copy of The Haunted Mask is so tattered at this point, it's barely hanging on in a single piece thanks to the hundreds of times I read it as a kid and even through my teenage years.

Very similar to how hell is another dimension in the Doom universe. Or how in the 40K universe traveling through the warp can cause madness and spontaneous corruption. The saddest thing to me is that we will never get a true 4K remaster of the movie, and never get to see a full cut with the extended demonic scenes

Most are between 7 and 9 SCU and that fits easily. You can fit 11 with a bit of Tetris and probably even more if you got real creative.
