Filling the 252XL Refillable Cartridges.

- This video is a brief introduction on how to fill the 252XL refillable cartridges. I cover filling and priming the cartridges and also some brief tips on how to convert your workforce printer. If you purchased your cartridges from Sublimation Plus LV or SubZone Ink then it is extremely important that you watch this video as it pertains to minor warranty information with the cartridges.
Well, you certainly can yap a lot! Definitely a yapper in the 4th degree, but as painful as it was to listen to you excessively yap and that you didn't reply to anyone with questions, I did follow your instructions and I have to say, in mid 2024 your instructions still work! Had I not watched your video I would have put ink in the air vent as that is where the removable colored stopper was with my cartridge, and that would have been disastrous!!
In my case I didn't have to run ANY head cleaner nor nozzle cleaning. It worked perfectly after installing the refilled cartridge. I think this is because I immediately selected (in error) a vertical and horizontal test. This seemed to cause about 5 head cleanings to occur on it's own and this might have happened with anything I selected to print, but it took about 3-4 minutes of the circle graphic spinning and you could hear it doing stuff, but when it finally printed the page, it was perfect!
REMEMBER not all the refillable empty cartridges you can buy have the same ink hole and air vent configuration on the top. The general rule of thumb is regardless of where the holes are, the hole FURTHEST away from the snap-down clip is almost ALWAYS your vent hole, EVEN THOUGH the colored removable stopper may be in that hole (as in this guy's video), it is NOT the ink filler hole!! The refillable cartridges I bought from AE were exactly the ones this guy used in his video and although the whitish/clearish plug "looks" like the air vent plug, IT IS NOT!! The hole CLOSTEST to the snap-down clip is almost always your ink filler hole. I know it feels weird when the pink, blue, yellow, or black stopper is removed and there is a hole into the cartridge that you THINK that's the one for the ink, but if it's the FURTHEST from the snap-down clip, then it's almost certainly the AIR VENT HOLE. So follow what this fellow did in the video, even though he yaps for over 20 painful minutes. He actually got it right!!!

AWESOME ... AWESOME.... AWESOME VIDEO & ADVICE !!!! Just switching now over to refillable 252's and did one cartridge. 1st fill and install, I didn't prime it. It wasn't but just a few prints and the color completely stopped printing out the nozzle check !!! I mean.. NOTHING. Not even 1 dot of ink was printing. Just recently I've been trying to get my old 3640 to start printing again, got to the point where I thought for sure the nozzles on the print head were clogged, and went through various cleanings, etc. And in most of the videos covering those cleanings.. it was basically said to NEVER do more than 3 cleanings in a row. Out of the dozens of videos I've watched recently - Yours is the only one that's explained the connection between the cleanings and the nozzle checking - that if you do the 1 cleaning then 1 nozzle check, you'll be stuck forever in that pattern and nothing gets resolved. SO... I TOOK YOUR ADVICE - WHICH AS YOU EXPLAINED SEEMED TO MAKE TOTAL SENSE. I swapped out ALL the cartridges, powered up, did 5 All Color cleanings in a row, and then ... MY PRINTER PRINTED OUT A PERFECT.. AND I MEAN PERFECT CHECK PATTERN PAGE !! If I had to grade you on your advice A+++++.. +++ !! Because now I know exactly how to prime the new print head for the 3640 that I'll be installing a few days ! You saved me a ton of time !!! THANK YOU !
Thank you for explaining the inner workings and the chip. What happens if you filled the cartridge thru the other "vent" hole? and do you HAVE to fill the cartidge to capacity? i just want to see if it even works.

I'm about to order your refillable cartridges with auto reset chip. How does this work? I currently have refillable but my black continues to read low even though it is full and the colors read half-full when they are completely full. Will these auto reset chips fix the problem and start reading correctly?
First your video is very informative, thank you so much. I have a quick question once cartridges are filled and placed back into the printer I should not replace the clear plug or the color plug? I am getting lines through out my prints.

I have an Epson XP-4205. The cartridges are 232-1. How can I find blank cartridges or fill the original ones? I can't find any information on this. I want to use it for sublimation.
do you remove the plastic seal when you install into the computer? My printer is saying incorrect installation.

You say to run the print head cleaning 5X! that's whole cartridge worth of ink!
I bought reflill cartidges, and tried just the magenta cartridge (as that was the ink i was out of). the cartidge did not read, so i put the original epson cartidge back in, and my magenta was not printing at all. I bought a "cleaning kit", cleaned only the magenta, and then ONLY my magenta was working, so then i cleaned all the nozzles, and after several head cleanings later, and depleting the ink from all cartridges, and replacing with authentic Epson cartidges, now my Black isn't working. (i did not know not to run the nozzle test in between, but am reluctant to run anymore as i spent a pretty penny for those epson cartidges), i've been using authentic Epson cartidges for all these tests.
