- What started out as me writing down a minor frustration in one little thing, unlocked and popped the little bubble of rage I kept locked deep down inside and hidden away. I had no idea there were so many things in Stardew Valley that bothered me, or that made it this hard for me to sleep at night.
Here is a brain dump of a bunch of things I just gotta let out.

I was also going to guess the horse, and for the same reason of what happened on the Riverland farm.
Two words regarding the horse: Saddle. Bags! How nice would some extra inventory be?! It would also justify the horse’s wider hit box.

Definitely! Then taking Fridays off after the community center is repaired. We barely get rain, and I have a watering can to upgrade!

It really irks me that the artifacts aren't a more diverse gift category. The only people who like them are Penny and the Dwarf. You're telling me Haley wouldn't lose her mind over a rare and elegant piece of elvish jewelry? And the chicken statue would be a perfect gift for Shane!
My first run through I gave Shane a chicken statue, sincerely expecting him to love it. Never did that again to the point I didn't know Penny liked them. Thank you for the tip, Inkling. (PS Hope you've had the chance to have a pint in Oxford!)

Abigail likes the golden pumpkin artifact which makes sense, i wish other npcs had stuff like that, like you said about the chicken statue and shane! It could be a cool special gift that they display in their home somewhere
@@ameisweirdx But the Golden Pumpkin isn't a museum artifact, that's just a prize from the Soul something Festival. And I believe that almost everyone likes the gold Pumpkin
Since my farmer seems to be one of the only people actually making community improvements, I would like to run for mayor. Once elected, I would solve that traffic snarl down there by Lewis' house. Horrible city planning there! People are trying to get to the BEACH, not to LEWIS' HOUSE. Ugh. My election promise: I would move his house all the way south toward the sewer entrance, and move the hat mouse into town.
Yeeessss! We are halfway there... ever notice how Lewis won't start festival activities until YOU give the okay?

it bugs me that the auto-grabbers do not work with truffles. i had a farm that had over 100 pigs on it and i had to pick up every single truffle myself lol
it also bugs me that we can't change the color of our horse!

There’s a mod for deluxe auto grabbers. Changed my playing.
Having to hunt for truffles is why I only raise one pig. Besides, this lets me grow more grass for my rabbit empire.
To be fair, my irl children get in my way and stare at me in the middle of the night too. Probably just be a child thing in general, pretty accurate to real life 🤣

Oh it's so hard to choose just one thing, because first, EVERYTHING on this list is correct! But let's continue..
1.) George mailing only stone, there's no such thing as "quality" stone, or else I would sell it.
2.) The dreaded, awful, horrifying accident of destroying a crop because of equipping the wrong tool.
3.) If I can't date the wizard may I date his wife then?
4.) Slime hutch feels pointless, could I raise dust sprites instead? I'd rather have coal. (Was this the catalyst that fueled this video?)
5.) No option for me to run as mayor, Lewis has got to go! (Worst, mayor, ever.)
Not the catalyst, but I'd also like to maybe have a dust sprite cave.
This is my first playthrough with the Slime Hutch, and I kind of like it. Have to remember to take of the Napalm Ring if one is thinning out a certain colour, but it is fine. But I think the next few Tiger Slime Eggs the Lionfish give me will go up to the Community Center so I can breed them and maybe get a Tiger Hat.
I have destroyed Crops before... sadness... I like the Stone George sends, if I am trying to not mine so I can get deeper then I run out of Stone too easy. But Robin sometimes sends 50 Logs, how come George only sends 35 Stones? Dust Sprite pets would be cool! So would replacing Lewis, and that clown he hires. They went and gave us some different dialogue every second year, why not change the clown so that Jodi's observation about a discount clown could make sense?
Honestly the idea of having a "slime hutch" that is actually for different kinds of monsters you may want, its genious!!! I love it!
Slime hutch is super useful for more oil makers.
I dislike Mayor Lewis too 🤪
The mines are actually not random like the skull cavern, and the spiral level is always set to be right before an elevator. CA himself said he regrets making the spiral level.
It excited me so much the first time! And honestly more than not in the beginning of the game - yea now they make me mad but that excitement stayed with me
I really hate those levels, I would usually get a ladder at the start of the level, would be useful if I didn't want to destroy those crates and barrels in the middle
I personally think the boat ride should be the same price as the bus. The passing out on your property annoys me also, I've seem some people say this but if you have a spouse they should be able to come and get you or if you don't have one. They should just make it so you just wake up where you passed out or in your house with only a small amount of energy. Why are these people walking from all the way in town to my property to carry me in my house?
The fact that after u've done seen all shanes friend cutscenes, beer remains a loved gift??? Like damn
All those things frustrate me, but man I'd be ok with all of them if I could get some more spouse cut scenes/dialog through the years. All spouses start feeling a little bland after a while. Or at least give me the option of wanting to remain child free in the game.
If you don't want kids in the game, after you get your house upgrade (the one that adds the kids room) go back to Robin's, select "House Renovations" and remove the crib. If there is no crib, your spouse won't ask if you want a baby. If you change your mind, you can add the crib back later.
Honestly, I also wish there was more marries spouse dialog!
That's why divorce is so popular, so to spice it up with someone new. It's like zebra fruit stripe gum. The flavor leaves super quick.
as of 1.5, you can remove your cribs from an upgraded house at Robin's and your spouse won't ask you if you want kids :)

@@sihyunnie Thank god! I hate those weird little whispers in the dark from Sebastian. (Do other spouses whisper suggestions for kids in the middle of the night?) Plus, I'm always afraid I'm going to accidentally hit Yes. I mean, it's not like I don't regularly hit the wrong button elsewhere in the game. Eating gifts for others and decimating vegetables is one thing, but accidental Stardew children? No!
We should be able to send mail to villagers as well. So you know we don't use squid ink in too many things so why don't we be able to craft a letter with a squid ink and.. cloth I guess? only thing closest to paper. Anyway it would be good if we could send Elliot a Duck feather on his rainy birthday with a nice Happy Birthday letter! We can get friendship points as well ofcourse.
There is a mod for that. One of my favorites.
I fully agree about the different colored flowers. Why not show them as rainbow when they are grouped in the inventory?
Wish I could date Sandy and Willy too! I think overall my greedy self wishes there was even more dialogue from the villagers. I wanna be catty and hear more lighthearted small-town gossip, I wanna hear about more of their friendships with others, and their thoughts about upcoming events before they happen. (though I understand how much work goes into writing for SO many characters)
This one almost made the list but I thought maybe I was the only one who wanted more small talk.

Give a bitchy suburban mom an hour and she will have a whole damn plotline written without even knowing the characters, like when people ask grandmas to name pokemon its so funny and cute
The one that I wanna date is Caroline. She's much too good for Pierre, and by far the cutest person in town. Don't get me wrong, Sebastian and Leah are snacks, and Sandy is just a better Emily all around, but my heart is set on Caroline. Abigail is pretty too, but she gives me yandere vibes.
@@collinbeal I'll be totally honest, I'd LOVE to date caroline too. I would love the drama and I think she's so sweet. She's always the first person I befriend.
One of my biggest pet peeves is needing hay or wanting to buy animals and Marnie isn't at the counter. She can't complain about being broke but staring at the microwave all afternoon lol. Another one I recently had was not being able to give Robin a gift on her birthday if she's building something on your farm. Even with the no clip mod you still can't access her even though you'll see the little gift dialogue box pop up. It just says "under construction" 😭
I definitely agree with the Marnie one. Like every time I go to her house to buy hay she’s almost always staring at her microwave or her dresser. Not to mention that the hay prices are ridiculously high in the early game! I also hate those panning spots that spawn behind that poll on Ginger Island so you can’t get it!
Omg the panning spots at Ginger Island! I would have added that but I think I conveniently removed my frustration about it from my memory. The worst.
I really, really wish the wall section in the hallway between the master bedroom and the living roon/entrance was useable. There is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be, and it would be the perfect spot for my calendar. It's not even like it's not interactable! You can wallpaper it, so why can't you hang things up on it? T_T

OMG YES!! I have a thing for symmetry and was going for a specific pattern and not being able to hang things on the hallway totally messed it up!
This is part of why I always delete that wall. The other reason, of course, is because my pet refuses to let me go through the hallway to go to bed.
I agree about Willy charging 1k to ride all the way to ginger island. I literally worked my booty off to get the obelisk just to save the money.
Save money? 1,000,000 is the cost of the obelisk. It would take 1 thousand trips to cost 1 million. I get the time save and work towards perfection but... definitely not a great money save.

Honestly I think Birdie is really cool and we should get more interactions with her. At least more dialogue after the mission. She looks like she has a lot of stories to tell

I wish we had more dating options too, like I usually go for Harvey because he’s cute and sweet but he’s the only one out of the main 12 I would marry. I would love if our options were expanded to at least Marlon, Willy, and the Wizard. Thank goodness for mods because I have some and I’m almost ready to marry Marlon!
Kinda sad that spouses basically leave their whole life behind to come live with you on the farm. They still live in the same town, they could still be doing their job or hobbies xD
Yah, there should totally be a warp totem/mine cart by Rasmodius’/flower dance bridge.
Maybe a warp to right inside the Wizards bedroom...? 😉 Nah that's asking for too much.
I put my Mini Obelisk at the Entrance to the Cindersap Forest on the Farm side so I don't have to walk all the way there, but yes, a Warp place... maybe that sad island with the 1 Maple (it is a good fishing spot), or the island with the Pines would be good places for a Warp Landing, sort of in between everything you actually want, much like the others.
@Wickedy If there isn’t a mod called “give me the ol’ Razzle-Dazzle” that does this, I’ll be sorely disappointed.

I think it’s hilarious that we flash our swords at our neighbors. “Gee, Marnie, my Galaxy Sword thinks you ought to reconsider your business hours. It’d be a real shame if my Galaxy Sword got angry.” I fully agree that it’d be nice to have a warp point in Cindersap Forest.
I once read that the rarest event in Stardew Valley is Marnie actually being at her shop.

Something I really wish we could get it what you said, other characters marrying each other! That was one of my favorite parts of old games. The rush of having to get them to love you first or watch their love blossom
Yeah in the old harvest moon games they could do that and have kids. I know it isn't harvest moon but there's obvious pairs in the game like Maru and Harvey, Leah and Elliot and then Abigail and Sebastian and finally Alex and Haley. Heck I even wish you could get both to the max of 8 hearts you get for not marrying them and there's a way to help them get together. It would add so much to the game
The uselessness of the Spa, removing the shimmering boulder, the quarry, and the villagers themselves once you get them to max hearts.
I really appreciated the spa before I got a kitchen! After a full day of farming it was only an extra hour to completely restore energy on the way to the mines
I hate that the auto petter is so hard to find unless you go the Joja route.
I think there should be a recipe or something to craft it 😭

Actually you don’t have to go the Joja route, there’s a small chance you can find one in the treasure floors of Skull Cavern
I literally installed a mod that makes a special order for Marnie to stock auto petters.
CA himself has said about the spiral layout, "This is the worst mine layout. This is one of my biggest regrets in Stardew Valley is this layout." From UnsurpassableZ's video "I Made ConcernedApe SPEEDRUN His Own Game". I'd be scared to meet the person that likes that layout.
Spouse decorating is probably my biggest pet peeve. Especially when it's a random chair in the silliest spot, like on a staircase.
I sometimes wake up to a random chair sitting in the middle of a room and Im like "Hey Abigail wtf?" lol I just immediately delete it
Because I've finished my mining deep dive, I spend most of my Time on lvl 15 to 30, and the spiral is kinda fun! There's always something in a box in the center. :) and since all I'm really after is bug meat, fiber, and rice shoots, its kind of enjoyable!
the only thing I don't mind is that my spouse in one save just gives me a bunch of plants.
Or they could at least drop a shaft in the middle even if one has already dropped towards the front. Nothing worse than getting the shaft at the beginning of the spiral, collect what’s in the middle and have to run all the way back out. Such a waste of time.

Honestly I think interaction with your horse should be added in the main game. I know there is a mod for everything but it honestly just makes sense in vanilla.

The fishing is my quarrel. Some of the fish aren't too bad to keep in that slider, but others are almost impossible with the way they jump. Got a hit? Immediately jumps out of the bar with lightning speed to almost the top. Get it in the bar, it immediately jumps out of the bar like the flash to just outside the bar. Then proceed to jump from one side to the other, never staying within the green bar, and wasting your time. Yes there are things to help, but my first experiences with it as a new player left a horrible first impression
Fishing was the worst for me when I started too. One thing I found that helped, if you're a PC player, using the C key instead of the left mouse button. I got better reaction time that way. The other thing to keep in mind (and it's very annoying) is that fish behavior can be exceedingly random. The catches you describe where the bar zips to the top, then back down, then back up, are literally impossible. You have to keep fishing and hope for a lucky run where the fish stops moving at convenient intervals, allowing you to catch up. In this way, I once caught a sturgeon with the basic bamboo pole you start off with. Not because I am super talented, but because it just didn't jump around much.
If you fish on lucky days, it is often easier to catch the difficult fish. Unlucky days can pretty much make some of them near-impossible.
In a recent new game, I waited to catch my first fish until a super-lucky day. My first real fish (cause you’re pretty much guaranteed that first one) was a catfish.
Level zero fishing, bamboo pole, toon had never fished before. I think I wasted an hour in game because I was just like wtf?!
My first fishing experiences in the game, way back, were horrible and I avoided fishing for so long. Then when the riverland map released, I made a new farm on it and that toon was only allowed to make money through fishing and gathering forage. I learned to fish. First time I caught all the Legendary fish, I was so proud! I worked so hard. Honestly, it still makes me happy when I catch them.
Thankfully, I don’t forget how to fish when I take a few months off from SDV, though there is always a short adjustment period to get the hang of it again.
A lot of people have said using the C key on PC can make it easier and I can see how it could. I’d already been playing for a long time though the first time I heard/read someone say that though so I was too used to the mouse. The tip that helped me most was to use quick short clicks. Somehow, I’d never realized or tried that before then.
I also saw someone suggest in a video to majestic a new toon and practice with the first cast. It’s a guaranteed catch and will stay that way until you actually catch the fish. It allows you to practice learning to control your bar better. If you get too close to catching the fish, hit escape and try again. It’ll stay like that until you actually catch your first fish. I wish I’d been able to see that video back when I was trying to learn.
I play on mobile and fishing is my least favorite part of the game, I’m on year 4 and only have the fish tank left in my community center and i can’t catch any of the fish I need

On swinging/blocking with your sword when trying to interact, hold a tool, but right-click instead of left-click. It won't do anything if you miss, no wasted time or energy. I'd think there's an equivalent on other platforms, but I have no idea.
oh I HATE when I'm trying to get somewhere (like into a barn, to a mayonnaise machine, etc) and the animals decide to go ANYWHERE but out of the way and stand right where I need to be
One of the most annoying thing for me is the artifact spots. When I need clay, it gave me artifacts and when I need artifacts, I get clay. Really grinds my Stardew nerves!
But it is also a blessings because I randomly get free warp totems. A love-hate relationship with that one.

I have a few that I can’t remember, but one for sure is not being able to change the name of your kids, cat/dog, horse or farm. My main farm.. I kinda wanna wish I could change the name even if it costed me 500,000 or something. ‘My’ kids.. their names aren’t to my liking anymore. My dog and horse are fine tho xD
Edit: I just remembered this but my first ever farm, I made myself look like Willy without even knowing him first. Then I wanted to actually like marry him, so I spent time getting all hearts to then find out he’s not an npc you can marry. I was actually sad but I give him gifts when I see him, my friend told me he was like 36 and I’m over here like “I still love you Willy.. ;-;”
I think my biggest pet peeve is how hard wood is to acquire, especially compared to stone. In my current playthrough I'm doing the standard farm layout and using lots of tree fertilizer so for ONCE I have more wood than stone. But all of the farm upgrades require soooo much wood and if you're not careful you're in trouble 💀

Dude, I feel the same way. I absolutely love Shane, and I relate to him and I love his backstory and everything. But I HATE his clothing and room. Shane's clothes still makes him look like he's a slob, or very unmotivated in life. Which itsn't the case any more, and I'm mean that he's getting into a best state. And I hate the room, it literally makes no sense, and I wish you'll able to to redecorate spouse's rooms or something.
Seriously. My farmer has millions, at the very least she would have bought him new clothes without holes and hired a maid. The toon I made that ended up marrying him is a more A-type personality and has…refined tastes. She would not stand for any of it.
Needing to mod his room and clothes were what led me to install mods finally. The room one doesn’t work anymore though so I just can’t play that save. Eventually it may annoy me enough to just edit the images myself. :D
The return scepter is NOT worth 2m gold. If you play in PC, I highly recommend the mod MagicScepter. It makes the return scepter act like a mobile obelisk where when you use it, a menu pops up and lets you choose a warp totem point you’ve built an obelisk for.
I like the return sceptre; It lets me push it in the mines/caverns/volcano until 1:40am then pop back home. It may not be worth 2M, but its an end-game item and I usually don't have anything to spend my money on anyway
@@LordOfNothingreally I saved up and bought this before any of the Obelisks this time (my first time with it). I use it a lot, and since it drops you at the front door, it is easy to get to bed even if you hit the Return Sceptre at 1:50 if your bed is by the front door. Of course your pockets will be a disaster...

Hatching Slime in the Community Center is inspired! Wednesdays and Pierre's are irritating until he is open all the time. Clint closing Fridays after the Community Center is finished I have trouble remembering until I am there to crack open stuff. I have put a Chest at the Minecart just to stuff the Geodes and Coconuts in so if I am there one day that isn't a Friday (it is only on Fridays that I want to crack things open somehow), I can get stuff done. Most of the time I don't have a problem with Marnie, but there are the Dr. appointments (I think) for her and Jaz. She is around all weekend and most people forget that.
Flowers are annoying. I hardly ever grew them, and then Fairy Dust came along. First harvest from the Greenhouse and I only had 1 Iridium Sprinkler's worth of them and I could not harvest them all at once; I had to put down a Chest to get rid of them. So now I harvest with Diamonds in my pockets, and when I am full, I make Fairy Dust and keep harvesting. Most of these I have thought about more than once... grumbling.
What I appreciate is how this game gets updated so seldomly but you still manage to find things you didnt know about it. These lists that you make are amazing and there were things I didnt even know on here!
The Museum Items, when you hover over the item, it will tell you if you have Donated it or not. It will say "Give this to Gunther" or something like that. But if it doesn't, you have already donated it. ^-^

My no. 1 pet peeve is always SDV content creators never clearing debris either on the farm and outside of it. The amount of sprigs/weeds/stone on the road to the secret forest always triggers me. I understand not doing it first spring but later, it must be on purpose to make me mad. (j/k)

the flowers!! I love flowers, and I want to saw so many of them, but also gathering them then is a pain. I've been eyeing a flower stacking mod ("crop color combiner") mod and I might use it just to make that part less annoying

Yes, Shane's conversations bug me. But he is the first marriage I have had, and these are the first kids. I needed the Achievement. But on the positive side, he gives things he likes to get, making gifting him easy. And it is in the morning, so I can go to Ginger Island all day long and then go home and not have to talk to anyone ^_^.
I wish we could do the floor and or wall paper in our spouses room. Because the muddy footprints that just appear there are a mild irritation, but the floor doesn't match the rest of the house. >.

I never understood why Shanes room is such a mess. His entire heart event story is you helping him with his alcohol issue, turning his life around and helping him get better, and then his room is an absolute shit tip with beer all over the floor. It makes no sense and is the reason why I usually opt to remove the room completely or use a mod to make it look better.

Oh my god the FLOWERS! I grew 1 5x5 patch of blue jazz on one of my junimo plots to use when making lucky lunches and I've just kept them stored inside the hut because it's so FRUSTRATING how different they all are! 24 flowers and probably around 10-15 different stacks of 1-4 flowers!

I will check that first straight part from the ladder, and if nothing lets me to the next floor, Stairs. I think I have been into the middle 3 or 4 times in all the years I have been playing...

Easily my most hated thing in the game is how finnicky clicking on things can be. I don't see people mention this really, so maybe it's just me, but moving my cursor on to everything I want to interact with is super tedious so I simply walk into things and click wherever my cursor happens to be. The problem is...sometimes it just doesn't work. If it never worked that would be one thing, but the fact that it works fine 70% of the time just makes it so frustrating when it doesn't. And, of course, if more than one clickable thing is nearby, I almost always click the one I don't want to (like clicking on animals when I'm trying to pick up truffles or facing sideways when trying to hit a monster that's right in front of me.)
Oh definitely Clint not working on Fridays once the Community Center is completed. I usually upgrade my tools in year 2 and year 3 after I've completed the Community Center and it's also the time I start cracking geodes for the Museum. For some reason, I end up going to the Clint's on a Friday 60% of the time. And because the change happens after the CC is completed, I keep on forgetting that he doesn't work on those days. At least Pierre's Wednesdays and Marnie's Mondays and Tuesdays are widely recognized by the community and therefore I have it ingrained in my head that they don't work those days, but barely anyone talks about Clint not working on Fridays.

The chests don't have access to each other, and don't have the 'sort all' button like my time at Portia. This result in Everytime you come back home, you need to manually sort your stuff into the relevant chests. And if you have chest at other areas other than your house, you literally have to go there to grab something.
but isn't there the organise button to sort items, and the add to stacks button so you don't need to manually sort? on pc atleast

The apples almost screwed me over in my community center year 1 playthrough, i had no idea they were so rare. Im now at year 3 on that farm and havent gotten a single new apple from the bats

Ha agreed about like all of these. Though the Marnie thing is always kind of annoying because it's a small town they don't need to be and shouldn't be open 24/7 or even nonstop 9-5. So I'm glad you acknowledged while it can be annoying it makes sense. Like in many European countries they get time off to go home and eat lunch and I like that the villagers don't just sit behind a counter all day everyday waiting for me. Only thing I'd change is what some of the villagers do on their day off, I'd rather see more out in town than just staring at something for hours. I'd also like the option to update the map with days they work after you find it out.
I hate that when I'm working on the community centre and I'm only one item from being finished sometimes the item I need never shows up heck sometimes it's an item you'd usually see all the time

OMG the signs, the flowers, and the lifeless Community Center get me too. I thought Willy, Gus, Evelyn, George, Leah, Emily, and others would be there constantly. And yeah, the game should ASK before it changes my barn signs when I'm trying to pick up stupid truffles.
Also, the fruit trees are WAY too finicky. I planted these pomegranate trees and every morning they keep complaining. About to chop them down and plant some hardwood trees. Hardwood trees don't whine.
