Caroline is likely using the soda (colas specifically) to tenderize whatever meat she's using for the burrito. Old barbecue trick.
It's not recommended you marinade overnight, unless you like meat with the consistency of canned cat food.
Or maybe she just wanted something to drink with it?

If you really want easy trash, fish in the little water thing right outside the bathhouse. Without the note quest, it will always give you trash, with no chance of anything else! Better yet, when you get tired, instead of eating, you can just go inside the bathhouse to instantly get your energy back. Quite convenient!
You can get a "gift" item there too though (can't remember what exactly but probably a piece of furniture)
This video explained the phase "One man's trash is another man's treasure" literally, not in monetary profit of course. Specifically, "cheap, easy and efficient way to get resource"
I like to think that Gus started putting those meals there for Linus ❤️ accidentally on purpose
That's probably the case. Especially cus of that one cutscene. Maybe he worries that Linus is too anxious to just come ask, even tho Gus would gladly give him a nice hot meal.
In my current playthrough I found a diamond in Jodi's trashcan, and in the Jojamart trashcan, both in first spring long before I finished the mines. Never had such luck before!

The first time I played stardew valley I was checking the trash cans like usual during a thunderstorm when BAM the trash can lid shot off and I got a had I was bewildered, startled, laughing all at once. I thought the lightning must have hit the can or something.

3:39 - I was like "wait, did she just say 'cayenne' like the pepper? That would be red/orange wouldn't it? LMAO
Then I realized you were say "cyan" with a hard C instead of the typical "sigh" for "cy" that I'm used to hearing.
We call it "spicy blue" here. 🤣
I went into this thinking that I know pretty much everything about Stardew trash, and I love how wrong I was! Great video 👏👍

I remember getting spooked by the trash can lid popping off too! Then I laughed at it of course. Coolest thing I got from a can was probably fried calamari for Pierre.
Realizing how valuable trash was changed the way I play. I keep all my trash now and the torches come in handy 😁

Here's also another trick, equip Training rod and fish in the desert pond to catch a lot of trashes all day along since all of the desert fish are at least uncommon. I just so happen to stumble upon this trick by myself while trying to level up my fishing skill and getting sandfish, and finally for once a trick that i found out by myself instead of searching it on the internet

Whaaaat you can put driftwood into a wood chipper?? I never even bothered to make a wood chipper bc I thought they only worked on hardwood :0
For the longest time, same. I always thought that hardwood was worth too much to bother chipping so I never got the chipper. Now that we have mahogany trees I have a whole patch of trees that I chip down, and always throw my driftwood in there. It helps keep my wood supply up because I HATE buying resources.
If you have the forest farm the stumps you chop in the corners will always grow back, same for the stumps in the secret woods too! I was less precious with my hardwood after I figured that out. :)

Great tips, more people need to know about this. I almost always check on good luck days and I always saved my trash from fishing.

I found an eel in Lewis' trash can recently.
I'm also doing a "stuck on the farm" challenge, and trash- trash is my FAVORITE. This is the first play through where I've never used the charcoal kiln and it's been my primary source for iron.
The best thing I ever found was the Eel, it was the last item I needed to complete the community centre. I was beyond happy! I also have the trash can lid on my horse which makes him much easier to find! Thanks for video 😊👍
With the trash cans I have found that if you change the jojo mart into the cinema that you can find movie tickets there.

I love the trash cans and I also have like a recycling center in the sewers along with a bunch of crab pots. Crab pots work in the sewers btw with the same rate of getting trash as any other body of water. So many fish to turn into sashimi and lots of trash to recycle, which I really only use for the refined quartz

I once found a lucky lunch outside the saloon in the trash. On day 6 of my new file. I used it to help with fishing lol
For anyone that likes mods there’s a public access or something TV mod that adds channels(like adventurer’s guild telling you what’ll be going on in the mines & later on a channel about what movie is playing, what’s next & if the crane game is open)
At some point I think after befriending people you can get more after cutscenes.(Demetrius has a channel for train schedules) I mention all of this to explain that the mod is useful for trash as Linus has a channel for telling you what you’ll find in the cans around town that day.
I did the linus quest with farming trash infront of the bathhouse
I've found bars of gold and copper, and I think at one time a diamond but I'm not sure on that one. I did find some fish which was always cool. More food, or a new pet for my aquarium.
I found an amethyst on my first-day trash diving in a new save file. Gifted it to Emily right away :P

Wish I had watched this earlier. I've played about six hours and got frustrated with fishing. I kept trying on the default home map and all I got was trash....
Also, maybe it's just me, but giving the player a bamboo rod is a bad idea. Why didn't they give out the training rod?

You're fishing on the farm map? Unless you have the river farm, that's pretty much guaranteed to give you trash. Fish in the river, mountain lake, or ocean instead. Also, luck influences what you hook.
honestly, i dont know who would want to eliminate the chance for trash in crab pots. its such a useful thing to get that i wish the pots could hold multiple trash items. i set pots pretty much everywhere in SV i can and use a auto harvest mod to gather everything.
Filling Luis’s house with trash made me very happy.

IDK if this is actually a thing or if I was just very unlucky that day -- but when I went fishing at the ocean when the winter market was in town I was catching nothing but trash!
Oh that's right! During the Winter Market the waters are filled with trash instead of fish. I'm guessing the vendors are just big ol polluters, or the fish are scared off by the boats. It's also the only time that you can get panning spots at the ocean there too.
Do you have to be a certain level to find trash in the trash cans? I feel like I've checked every trash can a bunch of times and have never found anything, even trash!

I honestly had a computer failure that caused a lot of files to become damaged or lost. One of my drives I need to take to a person more tech savvy than me to see if I have backups of that save. I wish that that wasn't the case. I might be able to start the play again from scratch and just use the seed from the video, but I might just have to start over.

This game makes little sense. I'm in Summer of year 2; completed the Community Center; Have most of the buildings and upgrades; am married; Have Iridium sprinklers; Went to level 72 in Skull Cavern, and I have over 300,000. It's just boring, I'm going around doing the same stuff without any struggles. I just don't see the point in processing garbage. My chests are full of way to many multiples of things in the game. I guess I will never understand how people go three or more years into this. Just going for Millions of dollars with no challenges makes no sense.

Also, this is meant to be a fairly chill game. If you want thrill, try Dark Souls or something.
