    Do: Use the first crystalarium you get from the 25000 g bundle for jade, not diamonds, since you can trade 1 jade for 1 staircase in the desert, and getting deeper in skull cavern will help you to not only get valuable iridium ore and gems but also the mining experience you need to get the crystalarium recipe at level 9 and start making more to replicate diamonds for a profit

      @@kisskamm6631 there's a guy with a camel in the desert who you can trade with! he has both permanent stock and rotating stock that changes based on the day of the week, the staircase for jade trade can be done on sundays! afaik there's no limit to the amount of trades you can do per day, so bring all of the jade you can spare. staircases stack and can be kept in your inventory or a chest. if you bring staircases to the mines or skull cavern but don't use them, you can leave and keep them to use another time (unless of course you get unlucky and die and the staircases are some of the items you lose). they won't disappear until you use them, but since each only lets you skip one floor, they get used up pretty quickly, so it's good to have a lot.

    • @carissag8298
      @carissag8298 3 года назад +27

      also place the fence posts on top of the grass you plant so it will auto-spawn without having to plant more grass (and buy the grass recipe as soon as you can, instead of buying grass from Pierre). I made that mistake in my first playthrough. oh and buying the workbench from Robin is a game changer for sure, since you can just place a storage box next to it and no longer need the materials in your inventory slots in order to make things. also from experience, I don't care for the slime hutch until you have the appropriate ring to charm the slimes to not attack you, otherwise you're basically asking for them to attack lol.

    About the horse: It's great but I just figured out that using it all the time can sometime be counterproductive. I haven't measured it but I think that going berry picking on horseback takes more time than going on foot because of all the backtracking to get back on the horse.
    After three years (I think) the spirit of your grand father gives you a score of one to four candle at his shrine (north west of the farm), I just discovered recently that that score is not definitive, you can get another one later after achieving more stuff (check the wiki to see what is needed) by offering a diamond to the shrine. The good is if you get four candle then you get a statue that give you a few iridium ores each day for free. This is great if you're not a fan of mining in skull cavern.

      I don't know, I allways loved the fishing minigame. I actually would have liked some harder, more profitable Fish. At level 10 Fishing + Iridium Rod, the vast majority of fish are extremely easy. More challenges would make it more interresting and potentionally more profitable.
      Some fishes sucked tough; rare spawn, hard to catch, only with specific conditions. Took me ages to get them all. But I kinda enjoyed the challenge. Doing a Playtrough right now, Fishing at level 6, Iridium Rod. It was quite challenching, but after a few failed attempts I've beaten him. I really enjoyed that.
      Also yes, you'll loose items.Especially during the earlier parts of the Game. The 1000 Bucks aren't a great punnishment, but loosing the Items you've mined kinda is. Kinda irrelevant in the Endgame tough, when you allready horded 500 Iridium Bars and 50 Prismatic Shards and got enough Money for 10 Gold Clocks.

I've got just over 200 hours in the game between 4 farms (2 of which are multiplayer), and yet I'm only just now starting summer 2 on my main farm because I spent sooooooo much of my first year (back in 1.14) stopping and trying to look stuff up because I wanted to rush through the community center and just kinda burnt myself out of the game for a while. Not that I don't have 15 stardew wiki tabs open at any given point even now, but I gotta say it's a lot harder to try and rush through everything when you're still trying to get a feel for the game and how it works.

    great video! just a quick tip, i personally think that using spicy eels for a speed buff is not as efficient as using crab cakes. mostly, it's because crab cakes last the entire day. i just have a chest in front of my house + my hut on the island with a couple crab cakes and i'll eat one as soon as i wake up and i don't have to carry them around with me all day.
    but part of it is that i think crab cakes are easier to find. 50% of the time, an iridium crab should drop a crab cake, and that chance is increased with the burglar ring. if you use explosive ammo, then the crab's shell will be blown off and it'll be defenceless, and you'll be able to kill it easily. in contrast, the serpents will only drop a spicy eel 6% of the time without a burglar ring.

    Tip on silo, grass and animals:
    definitely do get the silo first. it should be available quite early, as with most of the ingredients needed to make it, and the resources needed to make the ingredients (Cliff gives u the furnace blueprint to smelt ores as soon as you start mining, so yeah)
    however, after getting your first silo. DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT, chop down all your grass. This might sound mad, but heres why, as long as you leave patches of grass around your farm, specially near your coops or barns, and you let your animals roam, they will AUTOMATICALLY feed on the grass during the day and produce items over night.
    Let the grass stay as close to as is until the last day of fall. Also use this time for potentially additional silos. Anyways, on the LAST DAY OF FALL, as in the day before the first day of winter, THIS is where you wanna harvest all your grass and turn it into high through the silo. If you're like me, you'll easily fill up the silos you have and it should EASILY be enough to keep your animals fed through the winter. It's much more convenient than harvesting all your grass right off when you first get a silo, as it lasts longer this way :)
    As for fishin;
    get to level 5 as quickly as possible, and chose the fisherman thing, that lets you sell fish for higher income. Then start selling fish at that point. Not before that point is met. Stock up on your fish while levelling up and once you've reached level 5 fishing and picked the option that increases your fishes value, thats when you sell. Just trust me on that.
    Anywho, those are a couple of the things I do when I play and it helps me out a whole lot!

Leave the trees to drop seeds and reproduce. Also don't cut down the saplings. Cut down the full size trees and the surrounding saplings will grow within a couple days. You will need that wood. Spicy eel boosts luck and speed but does it for like half the day and you can slam coffee on top of it to move even faster.
      Just beware it's addictive so when you start a new game your character will move so painfully slow that it will make you want to scream. Whereas maintaining a double speed boost all day every day in the late game is trivial, it is impossible in the early game. Here's a fun thing to try if you've already had a couple of farms, and you're finding yourself doing the exact same things every time you start a new save file!
    Come up with a 'routine' for yourself, almost like the NPCs have. Of course it's more flexible, and probably more varied than the average villager, because the player has a lot more things that they can do around the valley. Some days your routine is going to change because there's great luck for mining, or because you really need certain materials. That's okay! Personally, I found that even in my first playthrough, I fell into my own 'loose' sort of routine anyways. Changing up, and even planning out a new routine can really spice up your new save file.
    This is where the wiki comes in handy! Check out the pages for some characters you don't usually get to know very well and plan your routine around theirs. Or come up with a story, and plan your routine around the story you made for your character and the villagers you want to be friends with. It will help the story come to life more, in your head!
    Sometimes it's not the most efficient way to play, but it can be really fun and rewarding to simply change the way you do things. Even just changing the time of day you would usually go to Pierre's - or going to the mountains before dropping something off at the Wizard's tower instead of after - can completely change what villagers you meet most frequently, and how you spend the majority of your day!

    In the mid-game, invest in coffee. I always use my greenhouse to grow a ton of coffee beans, which serves as a great excuse to make a ton of kegs to brew coffee and later wine. Then I keep a ton of coffee on hand for drinking, as well as gifting to villagers. Everyone except the kids like coffee, so this greatly minimizes the number of gifts I need to carry around. Then later on when I'm maxed out on friendship with most people I replace my coffee beans with ancient fruit and acquire brewed coffee by other means.

    For the upgrading watering can,
    I upgraded mine on the 26th of Summer, it was raining on the 26th and my crops weren’t going to produce anymore after the end day, so I figured they would survive two more days or so + my dog didn’t die of thirst so I suppose that’s a plus ( joke )
    And I had a good watering can for Fall !

    Lily, just discovered your videos this past week as I find myself getting into the Stardew Valley rabbit hole during the holidays after a very stressful month (shout out to my fellow IT homies dealing with log4j vulnerability patching) and your cheery disposition fits the wholesome feels Stardew exudes. I've been playing for years now so I know most of what you're going to say each video but I still watch them in the background as I play. Thank you for helping my Christmas weekend off feel more rejuvenating.

    For me, the "do" is to allow myself to immerse into the experience. Achievements are fun but don't really matter to me. I actually felt emotions during Shane's events and it is uncanny how close Harvey (who I married) is to my actual husband.
    This game hits at the agrarian fantasy of a small town where people rely on the land and each other to build the abundance collectively enjoyed. Its beautiful.

    Not sure how widely known this is but to anyone who likes to grow a variety of crops here's a tip for you
    Don't use the greenhouse for them sounds like the exact opposite of what you should do right? Well just listen,save the greenhouse for you main money making method (I use ancient fruit) and instead of growing your variety of crops in the green house use a shed,when you unlock the greenhouse you get the recipe for garden pots,make a shed(a large one would be best) and put a well next to it then inside the shed place the garden pots in whatever order your most comfortable with,place your fertilizer(if you use/have any) plant the variety of crops you want to use and water them you can grow any crop in any season using garden pots indoors you still have to manually water them but s upgraded watering can works wonders for it plus hey if you like having a routine you'll love this plus it's a great way to kill some time while waiting for a festival to start

    About not making sashimi out of a legendary fish: I will go and grab some normal fish, like a chub or smallmouth bass or something, and put it into my inventory. The game will use up whatever is in my inventory before it uses anything out of the refrigerator. That way, I can keep special fish for recipes in the fridge, like flounders for seafoam pudding, and not use them accidentally for maki or sashimi.

    To me the fishing wasn't really hard. Even with level 1 fishing skill and the beginning rod it was easy for me to perfect catch so I can't really understand how people think it's hard. But fishing is a good way to earn big money at the really early part of the game so I always did it first at every save I do.
