From creator Michael Schur (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Master of None”) comes a unique comedy about what makes a good person. The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell, “House of Lies,” “Veronica Mars”), an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife, and thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place (which is definitely where she belongs). While hiding in plain sight from Good Place Architect Michael (Ted Danson - “Cheers,” “CSI” - in an Emmy Award-nominated performance), she’s determined to shed her old way of living and earn her spot.

When Shawn pretended to be the judge i didn't trust him as a neutral being, but Gen so perfectly walks the line between callous and sympathetic it's incredible.

Honestly Im blown away by how much she lets the good guys get away with. She may be a spurce pf conflict sometimes but she gives them such outlandish opportunities that even though Im rooting for them I cant help but question it.

I cannot get over the pace of this show! In any other hands, we wouldn't be getting "the judge finds out" until, at minimum, the mid-season break, and here it's in the second episode. Honestly, having a television show, especially a comedy, where I have no idea what is going to happen next is blowing me away.
David Cervera I know right! It’s really amazing how it doesn’t drag stuff out and makes for something really entertaining.
Mike Shur (I think, if not it was of the other top bananas) said they always want to get to a plot development before the audience expects it.
this is the first time I’ve watched a show without so much unnecessary filler I was in shock when I saw the pacing of this season

I like how Derek (I know that's not Adam Scott's real name but that's my mental image of him) was built up to be a big threat to the group, because he came from the bad place to destabilize them and he'd been in all of the afterlife infomercials...
...But they all pretty much just ignored him the whole time and even the judge is having none of it and just flicks him off into the giant abyss of singularity and nothingness.

I agree we are looking at her as a cool judge but she might be an antagonist just like the others that's what I've been predicting
@@cesarsain3731 She has been pretty reasonable this whole time and everybody is taking advantage of her. The good point system sucks but she isn't the one who created it. She saw their case even though they didn't have the proper paperwork. She gave the humans second chances when none of them really deserved it. Three of them failed her tests miserably showing that they were the same failed people they were when they were sent to the bad place in the first place. Eleanor who didn't fail still threw away her ticket to the good place. And then she gives them a phenomenal third chance where she resets time and fate for just four unimportant humans. And then Michael throws that back in her face with his tampering.
Antagonist? More like the most infinitely patient and kindest person in the cosmos.

I think the coolest part about this for me (aside from Maya Rudolph being phenomenal as usual and the moment with Jeff throwing Michael the key) was how the credits were set up to roll at the lowest point of the interaction when Michael and Janet were about to be essentially exterminated, and finish at a point where you thought the episode would have been about to end. And _then_ Janet's first little 'bloop' and "My powers are back online" turns the entire thing around again suddenly, when you least expect it.

As a Brit, I guffawed at the Brexit joke. The idea of Michael accidentally causing it, and other weird stuff, is better than what actually happened. Hate crime has risen, the nation divided, uncertainty, a terrorist killed an MP for it!! But in The Good Place, it happened because of a loveable demon.
BTW England has not left Europe. The majority of the *UK* (including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) voted to leave the EU. Which saddens me deeply.
i love how, bc of michael just being kind and considerate to one unnoticed not-dude, the doorman, they are able to escape in this scene. the unforeseen consequences of being decent to others, a common theme in this show :)

I feel like the most character improvement is Janet. All the characters have grown in some way but this scene shows just how much Janet has become from a computer with infinite knowledge and power and a written script to emotions and caring about her friends. Chalk it up to what you want, but I can't see Janet as a computer or entity anymore. She's a human with awesome powers that is very concerned about what will happen to her and her friends. Just look at 1:46!!!
