ABOUT THE GOOD PLACE
From creator Michael Schur (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Master of None”) comes a unique comedy about what makes a good person. The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell, “House of Lies,” “Veronica Mars”), an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife, and thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place (which is definitely where she belongs). While hiding in plain sight from Good Place Architect Michael (Ted Danson - “Cheers,” “CSI” - in an Emmy Award-nominated performance), she’s determined to shed her old way of living and earn her spot.

The funniest reboots:
-The one where Jason figures it out
-The butt reboot
-The one where Eleanor overhears Michael saying it’s the bad place as he left his door open
I also like the first one, mostly because of Eleanor's 'Ya Basic' and how it matches with the snap. And like you can see the smug expression on Michael's face because he doesn't know what's coming
Yazhini and Tahani being Eleanor's soulmate!! 😂👀
-The one where Michael has a breakdown and reboots just to ask Eleanor why she's so difficult to torture
you missed the oportunity to call it a rebutt

Going into season 2, I fully expected most of the season to be a reboot every episode. When they instead did all the reboots in a single episode and moved past it, that was the moment I realized this was a show that completely broke my expectations, and I had no idea where they would go. Absolute genius, best writing on a comedy ever.
David Cervera they planned alot of things ahead of time.
Ameha K it doesn’t take away from how genius it was?
Definitely! The fact that they didn't bother with the whole "they figured out it's hell at the series finale" spoke volumes to me just how well story tellers everyone on that show was!
Best writing on a comedy ever
#facts
Max Levine it adds to it.
Everything about the scene where Jason figures it out is pure gold. His “yo, homies check it” to Michaels terrified stare to “Jason figured it out? Jason???” And Jason having that huge smile on his face. Arguably the best scene in the show
Also when Michael says "This one hurts" 😂
Best scene for me was when Michael explains how time works in the afterlife. Chidi’s “this dot broke me” killed me
“This is a real low point this one hurts”😂
I think this is Michael's lowest point in the show. How bad was this reboot?
Jason actually figured it out the first time, long before Eleanor did.
He kept telling her that they were on a "prank show" because he knew they were being tortured.
No one spoke Jason at the time, tho, so they didn't know what he meant.
I wish there was a version where Michael tried so hard to make the Bad Place look like the Good Place that everyone was actually living a good life until he eventually goes "wait shirt, this completely missed the mark"
That would be hilarious!
That definitely would’ve been hilarious
Among the 800+ attempts of his, I believe at least one was like that.
@@rizatusz8163 It may have been the one that went the longest of all those runs! And then Eleanor still figured it out because of her dislike of people who are better than she is.
I think that was the golden retriever version
Thanos has the greatest finger snap of all-time.
Michael: hold my Jeremy Bearimy...
Hold my time?
99# joke about the MCU
One does not simply hold a jeremy bearimy
Shouldn't it be hold my spoon? Or paperclip?
Hold my shrimps
I just laughed my butt off at the "3 hour spoken word jazz-opera" bit 😂😂😂😂.
This show was GENIUS.
Can u Explain that joke 🌚🙂...plz
Eleanor hated jazz music!
@@ashlee5982 Eleanor hates jazz
@@ashlee5982 The show is saying that not only would 'jazzzz opera' be awful but it's in fact _so_ truly awful that no one would want that as their idea of heaven.
And I can't believe I could have probably been fooled by it
The twist at the end of season one was spoiled for me by a girl who was seeing the show at the place where I used to work (She wasnt wearing headphones while watching it and I just heard Eleanor shout "this is the bad place" lol) and yet it managed to surprise me on so many ways and it sucked me right in, even with that spoiled, that only shows how brilliant this show is
Thats a negative 4000 points for that girl.
A good twist makes a second or spoiled viewing interesting still. Main example with the good place is seeing how every episode is hand picked torture for the main cast and knowing Michael is a lying to them.
That's because when the story is good, it doesn't matter whether or not you know what's coming next. Spoilers are a fiction your brain invents. The psychology is a bit complicated but the sooner you realise that learning the end ahead of time doesn't actually affect your enjoyment of a story, the happier you'll be.
I learned about this show's existence from RUclips recommending me a video that spoiled it right in the title. I know the feeling of both knowing the truth but still binging the show because it's so forking good!
0:38 That smirk. It was so subtle when this series started that it's pretty obvious watching it back after finishing the series.
I never even noticed that!
Good detail but apparently the crew didn't know about S1's twist until the day of filming.

@@Samgotboredd exactly, which is why that smirk is highly been intentioned by Ted himself.

the first time i saw it, i genuinely got so scared. he’s incredible.
I know!
Nah that’s Matthew Modine

It’s so good. It sounds simultaneously genuine and like the tropey evil laugh it needs to be, but also not so evil that it would come from satan, just from some demon in a human form.
11:37 Michael’s face when he realizes Jason’s about to say he figured it out 😂
His face is like "Oh no."

Ranking the moments when they figured it out, Jason's is still the best for me, by far
8:22 I just realized that Michael said “Dammit” despite the profanity filter.
2:15 that laugh sends chills down my spine... so sinister...
7:05 “I’ll go, I deserve to go. You guys should stay”
Woah there Chidi. I think the whole point of Michael’s test was so you guys would argue over not wanting to go, yet here you are just volunteering yourself. And I’m surprised the other weren’t just like “ok sure”
I didn't get why it was such a bad thing that they needed to reboot their memories every few months.
As long as they're being tortured for eternity, do they really need to remember every moment of it? I'd imagine that if they did remember all of it, they would start to go numb, which the reboots avoid by making sure the tortures are always fresh without needing to vary the approach.
And when the ruse is up, you can spend some time torturing them in the traditional before sending them back to the start. As a way to let off steam, and so there's something to look forward to at the end of each cycle.
You could even start making it a competition between demons to see how long they can keep the ruse going.

I'm kind of curious what would happen if Michael tried to deny that its not the bad place. Hopefully Chidi, Tahani and Jason would've joined in and told Eleanor that this is the good place.

michaels nasty evil laugh after elanor figures it out the first time is pure gold
I love Ted Danson's evil laugh!!!
Why is the thumbnail so hilarious 😂😂
Wish it had shown all the reboots in a row just the snaps
Honestly the main problem with the bad place was that Michael kept having an ending which was impossible to finish without someone realising without someone going who's already a demon in the cast. The only other issue was when bad events happened when she realised it was bad he never fought back.
I just dig Michael’s “Eleanor Shellstrop! You SNEAK-KY li’l… so and so!” with his head grooving to the beat of “SNEAK-KY li’l..”
Should have written ‘dont tell Micheal, this is the bad place.’
Great show, I miss it.
This show was brilliant.
The Owl House making a reference to this show just shows how The Good Place is an iconic masterpiece.
I like that Michael looks like he's trying not to laugh when he tells Eleanor she's in the good place during attempt number one. The whole experiment really was just an elaborate prank to him.
As much as I love Michael teaming up with the humans, Evil Michael was fun to watch.
Fun fact: On average, each reboot lasted 139 days, 3 hours, 39 minutes, and 3 seconds.
I wish I could erase some of my memory so that I could watch the season 1 finale again. I legitimately did not see that coming.

Two reboots I really wanted to see:
Tahani and Eleanor being soulmates
The one where Jason figured it out
You think 9:44 was part of the first one?
I really wanted to see tahani and Eleonor as soulmates since Eleanor seems to fancy tahani in all scenarios
Tahani and chidi being soulmates too
id give anything to see the one with eleanor and tahani
I genuinely wanted to watch the one where tahani and Eleanor were soulmates. It would be so cool
Of all stuff that goes on in the actual Bad Place, Michael’s laugh when Eleanor first figured it out is the most evil of them all.
Yes! His laugh at 6:32, getting excited about the bees with teeth, is also very pleasant
OMFG yesss it so is it's hilarious tho
His first evil laugh legitimately scared me lmfao
Facts
Don’t forget the one when they do it together with Eleanor, so perfect
9:27 Can we just appreciate the fact that Tahani chose to enter the house that way? Like everyone else in that line up is a demon acting as Eleanor's soulmate, but Tahani is just being Tahani here.
I wonder if the Golden Retriever is also a demon dressed as a dog. I'd love a spinoff series of that reboot.

Ted Danson is a treasure
Especially since out of all the cast, only Ted and Kristen knew the twist from the start.
Went back and watched that moment again, and yes, there's that grin that flashes across his face, the same look he has the moment before his laugh on the first reveal. I mean yes, it's his face so it should look the same, but there's a way it flashes across both times that feels (in hindsight) perfectly foreshadowed.

@@TheChurchofJim Tahani is a big giveaway that they're in the bad place. Yes, she did a lot of good while on Earth but the episode where Michael leaves the neighborhood scoreboard at Tahani's and the only thing she can do is think why is she so low then all she does is try to raise it kinda gives a hint. I think it's an underrated aspect of this show that the first season *is* attempt number 1. because it would have been so easy to add to the twist by going "you're in the bad place, and this is the one millionth time you've been rebooted" or something like that. the fact that we are actually there to see the start of the cycle is really good both for the story and the development of Michaels character.
I just don't think I've ever seen someone mention that before
Also, in a way we got to see, for the first time, Elenor die.
She always had memories from her life. Everyone else seems to carry their memories to the afterlife. But during every reboot, that afterlife version of her was getting lost.
By watching the very first installment of Michael’s hell we saw “our” Elenor, from the first season, truly die/disappear, for the first time. The continuity of who she is was lost.
I think it took me quite a while after the reboots episode to put in the trust to connect with the version of Eleanor that was on the screen in later seasons.

I would imagine it would have the same energy as having to protect a raw egg from cracking. It seems easy at first until you get paranoid about everything that could cause the egg to crack or the balloons to pop (mainly the cacti). And then your arm gets tired and you enter an endless loop of physical and mental exhaustion protecting something fragile that will inevitably break anyway.

@Alex Jewett Jason was very emotionally intelligent. While he was a doofus, everything he did was always with good intentions, he was the best of them all. Eleanor would do mean things, Tahani was selfish and Chidi was accidentally evil with his strict philosophy.

The best way to torture them is to leave them all alone; just being in the Bad Place thinking they’re in the Good Place makes it torture already.
But they are also trying to not to broke them completely. So it can continue 1000 years
@sweetheart’s soul I think it would be torture for Eleanor because at the beginning she hated anyone who even tried to be good and felt insecure around good people in general, so she would always feel like the ugly duckling. Jason might hate how he can't express himself freely around all the sophisticated Tahanis and Chidis.
But yeah, Chidi and Tahani would forking thrive.
sweetheart’s soul I mean it sounds like you haven't actually watched the show lol bc it is clear for why each person doesn't like it, and they were specifically chosen to torture each other etc put into uncomfortable situations and with clashing personalities
@@bwingbwinggwiyomi I think it depends, if we just leave them there without any interference whatsoever, would Chidi and Tahani really be tortured? Eleanor and Jason I can imagine. But most of the psychological torture Chidi and Tahani were subjected to was at the hands of Michael and the demons, for example Chidi's soulmate dilemma or Tahani's soulmate and house problem. Without Michael purposefully bringing up their insecurities, I think they would at least be fine.
