@@matthewbrooks3448 Here's the thing. For the main character. THE MAIN CHARACTER. "Fine" does not cut it. I don't think Chris' voice is terrible, but it ain't good either. If you watch the French direct, he sounds better, so my main criticism for Chris in here is that his NY accent isn't stronger.
@@raymaikeru I mean, unfortunately we only heard literally five seconds of dialogue. I too think a MUCH thicker Brooklyn accent is necessary. But it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that we won't get that. I just think people have to short of an attention span to focus on the positive rather than the negative. Either way this movie is going to be dope as hell.

I grew up in the early 90s, pre Mario 64 and this sounds a bit like the mario from back then. I do wonder why they didn’t go for his more iconic voice though. Maybe hearing that much “waahooo! Yippeee!” Would get old fast? I dunno 🤷♂

And regarding the movie, I think the voice of Bowser and the lot are great but still sorta mixed with Chris Pratt, though I feel it’s not disastrous at all. Visuals are amazing tho

Just basing off Marios reaction after the pipe entrance its pretty clear its going to be an Isekai type movie. Where Chris's prat intro to "I always wanted to be apart of mushroom kingdom." is us watching some normal plumbing guy get transported into his favorite game lol

I hope not. New Donk City already exists, so why not have Mario be from there instead? Donkey Kong will be in the film so I'd say it's implied.
I think you got the isekai part right but I think it's gonna be Mario and Luigi working as Normal Plumbers (Or construction workers since Spike was announced to be in the movie)then they find a weird pipe and get transported to the mushroom kingdom. Meanwhile Bowser is collecting power stars and in the process kidnaps Peach to get her to tell him the location of said stars but he ends up falling in love with her.
@@FancyNeon well..that's sounds like the actual plot for the whole movie...and even more things knowing that the stars are gonna a macguffin to move the story.

Imma be honest, I like Mario just having a slightly Italian Chris Pratt voice. I think that it will be easier to watch in movie form than Chris Pratt doing an over the top high pitched Italian accent for hours on end.

I agree with you. Chris Pratt's voice fits Mario. Charles is good and iconic but I feel he's only good for snippets and sound bites. You can hear the Brooklyn accent in Mario's voice and it fits because Mario is originally a plumber from Brooklyn who accidentally finds a warp pipe to Mushroom Kingdom.

Just by this trailer it looks like this is going to be a very high quality movie with lots of effort put into it I'm definitely planning to watch this in theaters with my older bro.
We used to grow up playing Super Mario on the Super Nintendo and the N64 with my much older siblings.
I remember being about five or six years old and they introduced us to video games for the first time. Super Mario World was one of the very first games I ever played and my brother and I to this day still enjoy Super Mario as a franchise and we're really looking forward to checking out this movie.

There was no doubt in my mind that Charlie Day was perfect for Luigi. I think Luigi was the best casting choice out of all of them.

Chris Pratt doing Mario's voice is an absolute travesty. This has got to be the dumbest decision by a studio in film history. Of course the obvious choice is Charles Martinet who has voiced Mario, Luigi and others since 1992.

I’ve always had a feeling people where gonna be more excited for bowser (voice wise) I think jack was a perfect pick for bowser and even I got really hyped when I heard he was voicing him.
But when I heard Chris was voicing Mario I just couldn’t quite see how that was gonna work out. It seems like he tried to do the “accent” but very subtle because we all know it would be cringe if he actually did try lol. But overall I’m still hyped for this.

Can't really blame Nintendo for having a different voice for Mario honestly. The last time they had Charles Martinet speaking full sentences as Mario in that ad for the 3DS people were saying it was really uncanny and offputting to hear, so naturally they take fan reaction into consideration when we're gonna be hearing Mario talking in full sentences in a 1h 30m movie.
It's kind of funny, because an everyone of these reaction trailers that I'm seeing, everyone is disappointed in Mario's voice but they just don't really want to show it or admit it. It's absolutely terrible

Gotta disagree about Mario's voice. Mario is actually from Brooklyn so the voice is actually ACCURATE to his character.
Meanwhile, Charles Martinet (love his work) is an extreme exaggeration of an Italian accent.
People are hating because are used to the one-liner voice instead of something thats more fitting for the character and his story.
