Great infomercial. I have been in and out of RC since the early 80s and I am so pleased to see the evolution. Although I have been into racing this part of the hobby meaning ‘bashing’ is very interesting indeed because I am used to avoiding obstacles. These vehicles can be quite fun especially for the youngsters.
I fully agree with the review lol thanks for the tips. I already broke my Rear right A arm from The car lossing control on grass and it would do a high speed wheel kart 😂
I just love your show. It makes me want to go out and work on my rigs, doing the fun upgrades and suggestions you offer. Like wheel venting. I told some vet RC guys in my hometown and I don't think they knew about your show, but they do now. Just love it....Keep up the great work, you're a fantastic asset to this awesome hobby.
Thank you. We're glad you like it. We've been planning this series for a while now and it's cool to see it finally come to light. Thanks for the comment. 😎👍
wow another great video and what's funny I just finished watching your Mohave video and let a comment and with this video you I have a better idea of what car I'm looking for. Stay Blessed.
How to fix the shocks from leaking : In the bottom there are two o-rings and a spacer. Replace the spacer with two o-rings, in total you now have 4 o-rings in the bottom of the damper. Mine have not leaked since I did this, running 3-4 months now with no need for maintenance.
Awesome videos, i have learned so much from your tutorials. I'ved notice that you don't have much videos on the Arrma Typhon 3S, i was wondering if you can make a video on how to modify the Typhon 3S so we can install a Typhon TLR body or the Typhon 6S body. I noticed the body mounting post on the 3S are different from the 6S and the TLR versions. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing your knowledge with the community.
The 6s body is wider than the 3s but will go on. It will require some modding of the new body but it shouldn’t be too difficult. However, the 3s body will not go on the 6s because it is too narrow. Perhaps we will do a vid to show how we would go about it. I hope it helps😎👍
The Typhon 3s v3 was the second RC car I bought last year and I have had great luck with it. I have broken some a arms and had to replace the chassis once. But It has been bashed hard and the breakages were not the buggy's fault. Total driver error. (I let my 5 yr old drive most of the time and the cousins.) It takes the abuse even when I take it to the skate park near me. This has been a great RC for me. 👏🔥💯👍
As a Tamiya die hard I purchased one of these impulsively. I would recommend the Typhon to anyone. It has taken everything I've thrown at it. I've even run it in sub zero temps with heavy snow with no problems.
Within our family we have a Granite, 3s Typhon, 6s Typhon, and a couple of Kratons. In comparing just the Granite and the 3s Typhon I find the Thyphon a much easier to drive rig. The granite is much more squirrely and prone to wheelie and do endos when braking. I put some of this to the taller cg but more so to the short wheel base. The longer wheelbase cars just seem to plant and go better. It would be a good comparison if you were to run your long and short wheelbase ( Vortek ) cars and give us your opinion based on two similar cars. Part of my problem is lack of experience driving, which you don't seem to suffer from. Keep up the good work. lg
Really appreciated this video, thank you! I'm looking to buy my first RC buggy for light bashing use and had narrowed down my choice to one of Typhon 3S, Typhon 6S and HoBao Hyper VS2. I'll now be buying the Typhon 3S. I've seen some nicely priced metal shocks on eBay so will get those too. Quick question: For light bashing and good overall stability what weight shock fluids would you recommend? I'm guessing maybe 40 or 45 in the front and 50 in the rear.
For the 3s rigs I usually go for 35 weight oil both front and rear. For me, it allows the suspension to feel the ground better. The rig is not that heavy so it tends to run like a board with heavier oils. Let me know how your weight choice works out. I’m glad we were helpful 😎👍
Fair score and well sead. Personal I think the only weaknesses are the shocks and the plastic spur gear. Having sead that I've broken arms, bumpers and even snapped the chassis clean in half! But if you do stupid stuff you can't blame the car 🤗 They are definitely an awesome starting platform though.
I love the comment, driving style really does play a big part in durability. No rig is capable of handling those awkward and sudden stops, but some handle it better than others. Thanks for the comment. AJ
That's my favorite RC the only thing is the shocks are week and steering servo the first thing to change is servo IT'S the best 👌 👍 great video 📹 thanks 😉
I personally rate the Typhon a 4/10 because its broken every time i ran it. The only RC i ever got rid of. Traded it for a Losi Rock Rey. It isnt the size or the power of the Typhon, just broke constantly. I have a Losi DB Pro which is nearly identical in size and literally only broke it the first 3 times out, then had a receiver die. Ive not had an issue with it since and give the Losi DB Pro a higher score. I do believe the Losi costs a little more though, havent looked up the price in a LONG time.
As a Vorteks owner, your thoughts on the 3s Typhon vs the 6s are almost prompting me to hang my hat on these 3s vehicles, even as my driving and mechanical ability improve. Unless... I have a burning desire to acquire more speed or scale up to hit gnarly gravel pit or construction site terrain.
Vortex is cool you can buy a longer chassis for 10 bucks or so if you wanted turn into typhon or a custom build.. chassis and driveshaft all you need and very cheap
I love driving my Typhon but man this thing is constantly broken and on the bench. It takes a lot of upgrades to really make it durable. Plastic shocks leak and need to be replaced. Plastic spur is trash and needs replacement with metal. Rear plastic input and crown gear cannot take 3s power for any sustained period of time so you can either replace every few months or switch those to metal as well. Chassis flex breaks the rear slipper hubs and gearbox case after awhile. At this point I've spent a lot more money on my Typhon than my Maxx which while much more expensive out of the box is far more durable than the Typhon IMO. If I can ever get this thing bulletproof it would be amazing.
You are not wrong, the rig is light and fast. Durability has a lot to do with how you use it. What kind of use do you put yours through? Just curious. 😎👍
@@AJJAMStudios I definitely jump it a lot but no skateparks and no crazy sends on concrete. So not Kevin Talbot or Rich Duperbash level by any means. If they had an EXB version with metal gears I think that would help a lot. With Arrma you definitely have to be willing to learn to wrench on it, which I like to do and I'm sure you guys do too. But for me there is no LHS support so I have to figure everything out either from channels like yours or the Arrma forum (which has a lot of great people on it). Could be a steep curve for someone new to the hobby. Love the channel. Keep up the great work!
That’s why we do this. Helping is our main goal. If you have issues that we can help with, get in the comments and ask. We’ll help if we can. Thanks for commenting 😎👍

Rob looks like the 4th minion in that outfit. Great Video guys.
The Typhon is still my favorite in the 3s lineup, such a great value.
Agreed 😎👍

Good idea. We'll definitely give that a try. Thanks for sharing. AJ
Just ordered mine (Typon 3s BLX) on Horizon Hobby for $239 via the Black Friday sale. Best RC deal on the market for $239, bar none. Can't wait!

I like the plastic RC's for winter easier to keep clean and maintain 👌 💯
Also agree on the hardshell battery
It’s definitely a thing. 😎👍
JUST GOT MINE TODAY...HOPE TO DRIVE SOON.
I know the feeling. Best of luck with your new car. AJ

I own over 50 rc cars and my 3s typhon , all things considered, is the best car hands down. 10 out of 10 confirmed !
i just got one, with upgraded shocks

How is the Typhon S3 V3?
upgrades for the 8th scale 3s Typhoon, where would you start??
First, I would run it until it breaks and then start there. Find the weakness and address them as they pop up. Best of luck, AJ

I love my Typhon. And you're wrong about the granite it is a bit heavier than the Typhon. As well as the wheels.
Noted. Thank you for the input, it is appreciated. AJ
The motor bearing such and they don't make a replacement kit
I've recommended the granite to many people , I couldn't belive how good of a rc it was for only 300 bucks ( originally).
Paul, I agree 100%, one of my favorite smaller rc’s! The mighty granite!!! 👍💯🍻
Surprising little truck. My son in law absolutely loves his. Thanks for the comment. AJ
Puedo poner una batería 3 s ,5000. Pero es de concuenta50 puedo ponerla

True. However, the body won’t fit the same, so there’s that to consider. Thanks for participating in the conversation 😎👍
No kraton 8 on the shelf across from the xmaxx
The cars are random. Plus, the Kraton is in the other studio for a different shoot. But thanks for noticing😎👍
