I love my XMaxx and the only issues I have had with it was the steering servo. My stock servo went out pretty soon after I purchased it, so I upgraded to the Traxxas metal gear replacement servo. It lasted for a few months and went out. Traxxas replaced it for free and a year later no problems. The XMaxx is one of my favorite trucks and I think everyone needs one in there collection.
Just got mine a few weeks back, love it! I was irritated I had to buy the roof rack, should be included on the body for $1,000. Also, just like my Maxx v2, the batteries are beyond tight, ripped the plastic shroud that covers the 6700 pack. But again, love this thing!
We have a segment of “What’s your build” for the Xmaxx coming out soon that shows how we dealt with the battery tray issue. Check it out. Thanks for sharing 😎👍
"If you find something that turns you on and you're not hurting anyone, you're not doing it wrong." Wise words for this hobby. I put big ol' monster tires on everything, I stopped sharing pics of my builds because everyone feels the need to tell me I'm wrong. "It's mine and I'll play with it however I want to." is my moto.
You’re a genuinely kind, respectful, and empathetic host and speaker. While a little quirky, your energy and respect for others in your videos and comment replies are a notch above all others. That alone should net you the respect and following that will be a positive contribution to the hobby. Thanks for taking the time to share you experiences and hype about the Xmaxx. May your holiday season ahead be equally joyful.
A couple things about my Xmaxx. 1) When it breaks any of the stock plastic parts, they are very cheap to replace and readily available at a LHS.(US) can’t say the same, price or availability, for my Arrma 8S or Losi DBXLE 2.0. 2) It somehow keeps running most of the time but when I take it apart I will find other parts that are cracked or broken. Still cheap parts fix but it somehow keeps running when broken. Another thing that was an issue was the inner wheel hub bearings being too thin to handle the stress and breaking often. (The rear mainly) Traxxas has updated their front and rear hubs to the larger bearings so that’s a good update for the older trucks, which there’s a lot of. And it’s very affordable to update being factory stuff. Thanks for the videos! Hurricane
Hay AJ. From the west coast. I got to bash for the first time with someone with a XMAXX . my very first impression was. it looks like, and sounds like, a toy. Where as a Kratons sounds and looks like a piece of equipment. I cant believe how much less it weighs. like 5lbs, less then the kraton. Butt my Kraton ran circles around the XMaxx. Thanks
While the Kraton is a more high performance rig, the Xmaxx has its place. The Kraton sounds tougher because of all that aluminum while the Xmaxx is shrouded in plastic. That aside, there are those who swear by the Xmaxx, and I mean a lot of people. With the right upgrades the Xmaxx is tough, it can be really fast, but the Kraton will always outperform it due to it's lower center of gravity. The Xmaxx runs longer on a battery pack, but the Kraton is faster by far (this is for "out of the box" rigs). It comes down to: to each his own. While one loves the Xmaxx, there are others who will never be able to get behind it; it's a personal kind of choice. For me, I have both and wouldn't hesitate to buy either again. I appreciate your input. Thanks for participating, 😎👍
Great content I have a request AJ when you do the center diff on the xmaxx can you do a how to I got a used one the other day really cheap I think the center diff is shot I like how you do your how to
When that issue pops up, and it should sooner or later, we will definitely do a "How to" video covering that issue. For now, however, we are not going to pull this one apart while it's running good. I believe Kevin Talbot covers that in one of his Xmaxx rebuild videos. Wish we could help more, but our rig is a tough little monster. Thanks for asking 😎👍
I had no experience and only things I've broke in 2 weeks is a steering link from hitting a pine tree full force but I got some upgrades and got in some wrench time
The stock steering servo sucks. Struggled to turn the tires. I upgraded to the traxxas 2085x. Then it stripped the bell crank that turned the mechanism. Upgraded to the HR MXX48SH25 so far so good. Should have came factory that way for how much it cost.🤬🤬🤬🤬
I have the original 6s X-Maxx that was converted with the Xmaxx 8s conversion kit and something breaks almost every time I take it out because 1) my repairs tinkering skills aren’t good and 2) I’m knowledge of upgrading parts are lacking. Xmaxx is only good if you have good tinkering skills. Do you agree or disagree with the previous sentence. PS I don’t jump or bash it hard at all.
Knowing what to improve and what to use in the upgrades is a tough deal. Tinkering is awesome, but knowing what to tinker with is more important. Your Xmaxx should not be that weak, but Traxxas improves their materials with each release, so there might be something about the 6s version that does not hold up to the power of the 8s system. If you try the upgrades we've done to ours, the arms should hold up and the hub carriers should as well. Best of luck, 😎👍
RPM components are typically cheaper, sometimes a lot cheaper than stock arms and most often its a no brainer to put on the RPM stuff. I do agree with in some places it shouldnt be flexible like spaces that it wraps around a bearing or other places something shouldnt move. I personally dont own a X-Maxx and have no intentions of getting one. I just dont like how it handles, i got a Arrma Outcast 8s instead for the wider stance and lower CG. There are other things about the Outcast that i liked more than the X-Maxx but minor things. Im not saying i dont like Traxxas as i actually have 4 Traxxas products. My most preferred brand is Losi, but Losi currently doesnt have a monster truck and the closest to it is more a truggy than a MT. The last MT they had which i do have is the LST 3XLE and because of how rare it is and how highly sought after it is, i decided to retire it.
All good points, and I don't blame you for retiring it, rare cars are awesome to have in a collection. It really is apples and oranges though, Arrma of Traxxas? Whatever turns you on, is my motto. Thanks for participating. 😎👍
Heads up: All our content is "For Real", so there's no need to worry about that. As far as your question goes, it is apples and oranges. While the Xmaxx is a basher at heart, the Kraton 8s feels more like a sports car in comparison. The Kraton is more stable, faster out of the box, and flies much better, however, the Xmaxx runs longer, does way more in the line of stunts, and seems to be suited for just about anything. One is a "Jack of all trades" while the other is a bit more specialized. As it stands here at the studio, the Kraton 8s is our number one rig. Xmaxx is 3rd. I hope that answers your question. 😎👍
It hasn’t qualified for one yet. Weather has been an issue concerning this. When it gets enough use it will get a block video. Thanks for reminding us to get after it. Ps, it’s 5 degrees out at the moment. Brrrrrr.
AJJAMStudios do you realize that Traxxas makes beefier arms for the Xmaxx? And did you know that you can spray all the plastic parts with Muc Off or WD 40. Let sit over night and the parts will become more flexible. There's alot more for you to learn.
Yes, we are fully aware of that aspect. Being that this is geared toward the new people, switching arms is simpler and easier without potential issues for over-spraying the parts and softening areas that should not be hit. The switch is more predictable. We've pointed out the WD40 method as well in other videos. However, we can always learn. Thanks for the comment.

One of a kind rig, to be sure. Thanks for commenting. 😎👍

Hoboa Hyper MT+2 is another truck you might like.
Thank you for the insight. 😎👍
What kind of runtime

What happened to the CEN Reeper ????
What do you mean? It’s there.
@@AJJAMStudios sorry I just ment we have not seen any recent videos on the Reeper?
Ahhh, got it. Yeah, it's been a while since we've taken it out. But the weather is improving so it will most likely be out soon. Thanks 😎👍

How comparable to a Kraton??? How do they compare??? For real
