The Americans started all this Woke Vegan BS but they still knows what’s bacon and what’s not EVEN though they eat streaky bacon which is basically 97% fat and 3% bacon, I mean to be fair streaky bacon should be called facon and Vegan bacon should be called fake facon, I’m confusing myself here so I’m gonna leave it there lol 👋🏼
It's a mad world in shops! I once bought some raw chicken breasts from a supermarket, noticed they were translucent purple instead of the usual translucent white but the packaging said no additives so hey ho... I did some research and found out that supermarket chicken suppliers extract something from the chicken meat and replace it with something similar that they extract from pork, hence the purpleness. I mean, what on earth can they possibly be thinking? I imagine they make money by making soup out of the chicken extract. I've never heard of pork soup so that part makes sense. But what do they do with the resulting insidesless pork? I shudder to think 😮
@and3583 bring back the hunter-gatherer times. Or the common right to hunt. Even if it was regulated, we feel that It could open more doors into a more thriving wildlife because we could help to reduce the invasive species as well as putting real and affordable food on the table. Or, like the times, the police stations used to trade the invasive grey squirrel tail for more ammo! Perhaps if it was regulated, the police would like to fine the no gooders, but still nothing happens for invasive or excess numbers etc. Uk 🇬🇧 hunting restrictions suck, and we wonder why. Vegan diet lacks b12. That's the problem. But if supplemented, it's healthier then a high fat, junk food meat based diet. In terms of celebrities and their fads, that's one to avoid. In terms of people eating meat substitute foods. It may be because they have an ethical issue with modern intensive farming. I'm just about to tuck into some bean stew, proper hobo food.😊

I think that vegan "bacon" is designed for situations where somebody doesn't want to be perceived as left out. For example if you have a Sunday morning family tradition of having bacon butties, and then your teenage daughter decides meat is murder and wants to eat only a vegan diet, then this stuff might have a use.
Please don't hate, but I mostly avoid meat just because it weirds me out eating flesh rather than for any ethical reason 😅 but I'm on your side again here, I don't get the point in pretend meat. Legumes, mushrooms, tofu and the like can all be great, but when they're pretending to be meat they're never gonna be close enough to the real thing to not just taste weird and off. A bean burger is miles better than an 'impossible' burger. Also super lactose intolerant, which is particularly painful because I love my cheese, but there's no vegan cheese that comes remotely close 😢
