Sounds like a p bass but with more bottom end! Love the short scale aswell
yes! the low mids are a bit different but I definitely like to use it for old school thump, less hand stretching with the short scale too
Nice!
Thanks!

Love the groove superb feel & play! Yes Vintera Series probably Fender best right now even over the American stuff, I have a Vintera 50s Precision 2021 75th Ann in Dakota Red total Motown Machine, will be doing video soon.
Thank you! Yeah these are very good, love the Motown sound!
Sweet
Thanks!

Came for the bass, stayed for the jam
Thank you!!
Just ordered my Fender Vintera 60s Mustang bass and will be changing the strings to Labella Deep Talkin flatwounds.
Awesome, enjoy!
Sooooo coool
Thank you!
Sweet! Love that tone and your playing. Any chance you compared that to the JMJ and American with the P/J set up? I'm trying to decide which one to get, very hard in this lock down environment.
Thank you Ox! I tested many different new Mustangs (and other short scales) in the shops before buying this one: various Mexican PJs, Vinteras and American Performers. Didn't find a JMJ in person.
Honestly, all of the Mustang variations I encountered seemed to be rather hit or miss quality control-wise. Bizarrely, one American I tried had the volume control wiring switched up. Another Vintera had the nut placed just slightly off-center, so you could feel a tiny ridge on one side and a gap on the other. Performance-wise not a big deal, but it irks me to find that on an €800+ bass. Stuff like frets buzzing (especially some upper ones) even with high action, on several Mexican and USA models alike. This probably could be ironed out with a good setup or perhaps a fret level, but still. The pickup switch on the Mexican PJ felt cheap to me, sometimes scratchy. Note: not all of them had issues and most are probably decent instruments, but Fender QC seems to be lacking.
I was prepared to fork over the cash for an American Performer but was disappointed by the quality hiccups I found and, to a lesser extent, wasn't too impressed by their sound with the stock roundwounds. I ended up buying this particular Vintera because it had none of the aforementioned flaws and felt like the best 'unit', if you will. I almost went with a Mexican PJ that was pretty good as well, but the Vintera felt nicer in terms of craftsmanship (fretboard finishing and such). This is my only bass right now. Frankly I do kind of miss a J pickup sometimes for the extra versatily (the grunty Jazz sound) and as a thumb rest, but the one-pickup simplicity is a nice classic formula that works fine. I will add that I find it very annoying to have to unscrew the neck for truss rod adjustment on this one.
You could order at a place with a good return policy and hope for the best. Any one of the Mustangs could 'click' with you and be awesome, or they might need some extra work out of the box which might put you off. The PJs are absolutely going to be more versatile. My story might not make your bass hunt any easier, but I figure it's good to know what to look out for haha
Long story short: based on specs I think the American Performer ought to be the best of the lot and worth the extra money, but the examples I tested in person were disappointing. My specific Vintera felt like the most solid Mustang Bass I could find in stores. YMMV
PS I think the newly released Squier Classic Vibe Mustang, G&L Fallout, Sandberg Lionel and Music Man/Sterling Stingray short scales are worth looking into. I would have seriously considered one of those as well if they had been available when I was looking for a smaller bass!
@@LitoLevenbach Thanks for the info. I ordered a JMJ and an American P/J from Sweetwater, great company, very easy to return etc. They cam set up well, the JMJ has a definite vibe, I ordered it for the pick-up and his input, I'm glad I did, it is a great instrument, and I have 4 Sadowskys that are the best basses I've ever played. The American with the roundwounds is a different beast, I also like it. I'm probably going to keep both for variety. As a long time Sadowsky fan, I must say I am impressed with these new Fenders, especially the JMJ.
@@PSA955 Cool man, enjoy! Good to hear about this

FUCK !!!! NICE GROOVE
Thanks!
Honored in being the 100th thumb up!
Cool, thank you!
Dang, that is so tasty! Melodic and smoking! Looking to maybe pick up a Vintera soon - any thoughts two and half years later? Still happy with yours?
Thanks so much! It's still a very solid bass, I have since strung it with La Bella flatwounds and it just nails the vintage sound.
Came here to hear the guitar, stayed the duration for the groove. BTW....IYO how does this bass compare w the MIA Mustang or JMJ?
Thank you! I haven't found a JMJ to try in person but it looks promising. I did try a lot of MIA and MIM Mustangs at the store, and while I would have liked the versatility of the J pickup, I was a bit disappointed about the quality control on many of them.
The neck feel is going to be different on all the different models, and what I dislike most about the Vintera is that the truss rod is hard to access. Apparently the Vintera pickup isn't quite as punchy as the JMJ, but I find it to thump nicely with La Bella flatwounds (will do a video soon). I think they all have something going for them, spec wise, you just have to find a good one...
Damn I want to play like that.
Thanks Jason! I have the tabs and a video call lesson available for those who are interested
Hi I d like to buy this d adzrio strings. Which stings gauge did you use? Does they feel hard?? Thanks
Standard 45-100 ECB81 long scale set. I think the medium scale set would fit the Mustang better. I found these to feel rather stiff in tension but the surface is very smooth. I now use the dedicated La Bella Mustang set and I like those a lot.
Did you string the Flat wounds through the Body of bass? What other flat wounds have you tried on the Mustang bass? Thank You
This bass has a string through body bridge. These were D'Addario Chromes, but I now prefer the old school La Bella sound
I LOVED that jam, is it yours?
Thank you! Yes I jammed over someone else's drum track
Which La Bella strings do you use? Gauge or anything?
Mousum DC
They’re Daddario Chromes
Standard scale 45-100 D'Addario Chromes, second hand...
Are those medium scale? I bought a set of short scale strings and, indeed, they're short. Too short.
Ah yes for a string-through-body bridge, like this Mustang has, short scale strings are indeed often too short. I ended up putting a specialized set of La Bella Mustang flats on it, which are slightly longer. Otherwise I agree mediums are probably the way to go
@@LitoLevenbach could you tell me the exact name of this Labella's? Probably can't have them here in spain but i want look it up
