I was going to buy this lot ,but went with the 67 Chevelle instead. How long do you wait for the paint to dry before building . I painted my primer and it took over two days before it dried . Thanks for all the tips Chris .Just started building again after about 10 years . Can't believe how much everything costs nowadays . Cost me about 50$ for all the materials , just for the one model . I 'm 69 yrs old now ,and having fun after being away from building for more than 15 years .

Great build Chris ! For years this model is always represented a 1970 Chevrolet Nova with the Clear Parking Light Lenses in the bumper, That was the only year that had that, Also the backup lights are small in the center of the lens that's 1970 to 71 Nova's, 1972 lenses in the back of Lights are in the center but they're larger, This model car should have been called a 1970/71, 1971/72 Nova's had Amber Parking Lenses in the front.
I'm going to have to buy this one and build it again. Back in the 80s when I built this one before it came with them hard plastic slicks that where 2 pieces and you had to glue them together. I'm glad to see that's not the case anymore and it's been keeping me away from this model. Only thing I wish was different now is that it's not molded in black , gonna have to use a white or light gray primer or activator. Always wanted to build this one in the middle of the 2 ( the pro and the stock option) i actually wanted to take a unique way to build this one again, wanted it to be bright white with a black vinyl top or a pearl white paint jod . And I wanted to keep it lowered with the slicks tucked up under there. Tupping this one will be easy and look pretty cool. Have it sitting sorta like the famous nova from street outlaws , Murder Nova.I really like the color you went with on this, it has a nardo grey look and it's been one of my favorite colors that alot of the automotive industry has been using on the newer cars today. Dont like that hood scoop either , cant figure out why.
Another winner Chris!! I totally dig this build and your use of the new weekend wrenching parts, especially dig the removed primered front fender. Great body color choice also!!
Back in the day I did a lot of drag cars. Living close to Raceway Park in Englishtown, which is now closed, I spent many a weekend at the track in the mid '70s & early '80s. Built the Reher, Morrison, Sheppard Camaro, Bob Glidden T-bird, the Snake and Mongoose funny cars, a few top fuel dragsters and a couple of Revells 1/16th funny cars and dragsters.
Vern Hoke Hey Vern I used to make models when I was a kid in the 70’s. A stand out was the Snake funny car. After reigniting my interest watching these vids I bought a Snake / Mongoose kit last year! Stoked but it’s still sitting on the shelf - I’m a bit scared I won’t do it justice! I just need to let go of work and house duties and relax and get back to my childhood zone. Cheers
I just bought this model too. Thanks for the info on Future floor polish keeping CA glue from ruining the glass!!! Good to know! I'm going to paint mine silver. And finalize it with a coating of future on the body when it's done.
Chris, i will say you have one heck of a imagination on how you build with washes and simply the builds. I would have never thout twice to leave that fender off. Pretty cool idea if you really think about it
I just bought this kit last week and now I'm all excited to get building. I love your videos you really have some great finishing ideas. May I ask where I can order the stands you have to hold your parts for painting and gluing? I see you have several the one for the body would be very handy and the ones with alligator clips is very useful. Like I said your videos are very good and I have learned a lot about finishing details. Do you ever do any pickups or semi tractors? Keep the videos coming I love them. Thank you. Harold
Love the old drag names..... how bout "The Boss-a-Nova" or "Nova-Caine" 😆 Great work on the build ! Let's see a big 1/8 or 1/10 scale classic front engine rail dragster or whatever big scale size they make these days ! Love the channel man.... you are bringing back some amazing memories ✌😎 That old school tunnel-ram is bitchin' ! My cousin had one with the carbs at a 45° angle on his real 57' Chevy with tilt front-end ! The display really finishes the build just perfect !
Great build... love the working on car & getting it ready for the next race showcase ! Sweet old school Nova with a big block, dual quad tunnel ram & sky high leaf spring extensions... makes for a nice modified California rake 😉 One look & you can tell that car was built for some wild 1320' passes ✌😎
I love this model you made it look killer, but I'm just starting this build and already having probs with it, mainly the wheel and tire fitment so I hope I can finish the the rest with out issues, I'm used too revell
Very, cool im glad they went back with that box art,and i had several of those when i was younger then in high school a 70 4speed ss with big block springs in the front with that it ,the nose was higher than the front ,awsome tips chris thanks.
Did you ever do the slick wrinkle on tires like this? When I used to do dragsters with slicks, I'd heat them a bit over a candle while holding the tires between my thumb and index finger. Then put the tire on something hard and try to spin the tire a bit as you press down. Makes a perfect (if you don't melt the tire) wrinkled drag slick. Of course it don't roll, but you don't make them to roll anyway.
Great review as usual Chris...I must say I have been model building for almost 40 years and I have never tried the glass in future...I guess I will have to try it someday. Thanks for sharing...

Great build as always.. this is another model car I don't have in my collection.. I'm going to look for one next week..i went to hobby lobby to look for that 1970 or 1971 Pontiac trans-am you built but they didn't have one.. I'm going to keep looking though 👍👍👍😀😀😀
Another great looking build Chris. I built this kit many years ago and it was my 1st diorama. I left the fenders off and had the stock engine setting on a cart with the big block being lifted into the car. To bad my younger brother destroyed most of my models ☹. Love the sage green on this one.
Hey man, nice work. I built this same kit s few years ago in a similar color.....I just have one small criticism. That large line on the C-pillar should not be there. Its flashing from the old molds and should have been sanded off. Keep up the good work, though!
This is turning out to be my best engine. It is assembled and painted with rustoleum 2x paints. I want to hit it with tamiya panel line accent. Do I need to spray a gloss coat on it first?
Nice build, I really like it! I have a question. I'm planning on getting this model soon and I was wondering if it's possible if I cut out the inner fenders and still have the radiator shroud and fenders go on nicely?
I'm definitely not saying everyone but quite a few people say that future yellows over time . Have you ever experienced this with either the "old school" future product or the the new evolution of the product formerly known as future ? Would you believe it to possibly be a storage issue causing it to or not to yellow over time . This being said I am ruling out nicotine because it seems less and less people smoke these days . I never clear over decals clear is not pleasing scale wise to me . I would enjoy your or others as well input and insight into the issue . Lastly thank you for the time and effort involved in making these videos and sharing them with all of us .
I see a few online now and then making this claim. Most of them coincidentally are heavy smokers or have direct sun on their storage shelves or other issues with how they store their models. Plane and armor modelers have been using it for 30+ years and with the money they spend on their models, if it was regularly turning yellow under normal storage and display, we'd know.
I have this exact same model. The only difference is the decal sheet. I don't have the INNOVATOR decal. But I was thinking of building it with the big block as stock!
Beautiful build I have a couple of these same cars....trying to recreate my Nova I used to own. I miss my car. I am curious if you have another of these same car kit if you plan to do a video building it the optional way. I used the racing tires but I used the stock engine and painted it GA Clay colored. This is the build I contacted you ab6a few months ago about fixing the issues I was having with it not fitting aka front tires were scrubbing the wheel well and too much space left over in the rear after installing everything. I am reworking the model and its starting to come together better.
No, I stick with sponsor products only as taking gifts from viewers causes all kinds of problems, and I've built the kit for the show, a second one wouldn't make much sense at this point. But thank you for the offer. Have a great weekend!
Great job Chris! That’s cool as hell brother! I remember building a couple of those old pro Novas waaayyy back in the day! Thanks for the link on where to get them, I’m gonna have to see about getting at least one! Peace ✌🏻! Doug
Hey Chris! Just getting ready to start this kit. I’ve had it kicking around for some time! Just wondering where you picked up that silver (chrome like) pencil? And how soft is the “lead”? That’s a great idea! Excellent video by the way!
I have a question bout the battery u should paint the battery and fine away hook up the battery with red string and black string and put inside motor area or put inside the dragster and find away to put a fuel cell and make it shine and hook up some gray strings hook up to homemade fuel cell
That's not a question. LOL I review the kit mostly as it comes out of the box. But if a person wanted to add all that detail it would certainly look nice.
Chris, do you remember the original Nova cane car? Guy i ran into one at a dime store they had it for 3.00. I opened the box and the thing was sealed and the decals looked very good for the age.
Hpiguys workshop. Awesome job thank you for doing a nova !!! Could you do another one maybe the 67 prostreet ??? I remember doing these kits in my teens ... I have a special nova project that I'd like to finish, and this was good inspiration 👍
Hoping I can get an answer with this being such an old video. I built this one 100 years ago and can’t remember if them hood vents are raised so if I wanted I could sand them off. If anyone knows please could you drop me the answer. Also , does it still come with them hard plastic slicks ? I did back in the day and I had to use others to complete it right because they where just god aweful forget
I almost picked this kit last Saturday. I've built it in the past as a stock Nova SS 350, but I'd like to do it now with the Big Block (if I had my own Nova).
heck yeah joe bet it looks good too i'm build mine as a pro touring car putting a nascar frame under mine lot of work but it''s coming alone nice i had this car when i was kid in the 80s and i still have it to this day going to re store one day lol
In several videos you mentioned Future Floor Polish. Can you do a short video as to specifically what you use? I’m having a hard time finding the stuff and when I do, say on Amazon, it’s outrageously expensive. I’d like to know exactly what you use and how you use it. Your videos are amazing, I love your enthusiasm and learn so much from your videos. Please keep up the great work.
Thanks Joe! This is the stuff you want. Every big box store has it in the US. www.walmart.com/ip/Pledge-Floor-Gloss-Original-27-Fluid-Ounces/15136693?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2127&adid=22222222227009393605&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40343007512&wl4=pla-78303532352&wl5=1028269&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=15136693&wl13=2127&veh=sem&gclid=Cj0KCQiAxs3gBRDGARIsAO4tqq0fcymRFjJhJKDjC_TZ1oYHGAXNoz-CKaHMy5C7zGr7AkaJpKP8cp0aAjV0EALw_wcB I plan on doing a gloss coat video with spray cans soon and in that video I'll also demo putting Future on it. You literally just brush it on the surface and walk away for a couple hours. It levels and dries to a smooth finish on its own.
Yes, I didn't remove those. Sometimes I get into removing all the imperfections and other times I let it fly as is and just have fun building the kit as it comes from the box. That's why I don't enter shows and I never say "You must build kits the way I do" . I figure everyone gets to make their own choices on how far they want to go or what ideas they want to use or not use.
Can you please do a room tour of all your finished models! I would love to see a tour of the awesome model collection!👍🇺🇸
That’s what I was thinking
That is a very good ideal for a video. You know he has a very interesting and great looking collection that that we all will love to see.
I have never seen separated fender parts on plastic models .
This stimulate my modeling spirit.

Nice build, I really like it! I have a question. I'm planning on getting this model soon and I was wondering if it's possible if I cut out the inner fenders and still have the radiator shroud and fenders go on nicely?
That would be kind of tough. Plan where you will hang the fenders from before you start cutting. You'll see when you get it.
What do you use to hit? the decals thanks broo
Great channel, keep doing what you do👍
Nice job,Chris the car came out great, enjoyed watching
Thanks Paul!
What do you use to hit?
the decals
Awesome as usual,Sir. I'm using the Rust-oleum gloss sage on the car I'm building. Reminds me of the old car colors.👍
Thanks Charlie!
Turned out very nice. Great color choice.
Thanks!
A great build of an old friend of a kit! :D
Thanks, this one's been out a few times for sure!
As always a great review and build! Thanks for sharing Chris! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year's to you and your family!!...Bill
Thank you! Same to you and yours Bill!
One more review before Xmas coming up and if I can get to it, one more before new years too.
I don't have a second copy, I try to stick with recent reissues and review those.
Thanks for watching!

@@hpiguy I can send you one, free, if you're interested.
Peace ✌🏻! Doug
Thank you Doug!
I had that same model around 1973 or 1974 I built the Pro Stock version!
Hey Chris! Just getting ready to start this kit. I’ve had it kicking around for some time! Just wondering where you picked up that silver (chrome like) pencil? And how soft is the “lead”? That’s a great idea! Excellent video by the way!
Molotow Chrome pens, Modelroundup.com has them, all sizes.
oh man this was another cool build! love the fender off idea!
Thanks Bryan, as always!
Yeah, and it will still hang as needed for a fixed look, fits well.
I have a question bout the battery u should paint the battery and fine away hook up the battery with red string and black string and put inside motor area or put inside the dragster and find away to put a fuel cell and make it shine and hook up some gray strings hook up to homemade fuel cell
That's not a question. LOL
I review the kit mostly as it comes out of the box. But if a person wanted to add all that detail it would certainly look nice.
What Rustoleum color is that Blue for the engine?
Awesome always cool stuff always thanks 😎
Chris, do you remember the original Nova cane car? Guy i ran into one at a dime store they had it for 3.00. I opened the box and the thing was sealed and the decals looked very good for the age.
Nope, before my model making days.
Thanks!
Awesome build and a cool idea with the dio idea.
Thank you Tom, glad you liked it!
Awesome kit and build buddy! Thanks Chris!
Thanks Whitey!
Hpiguys workshop. Awesome job thank you for doing a nova !!! Could you do another one maybe the 67 prostreet ??? I remember doing these kits in my teens ... I have a special nova project that I'd like to finish, and this was good inspiration 👍
Thanks Jeff, if they issue it again I'll build it up.
Thank you for your reply , that was cool , keep building 😊
Nice work, seemed like a very quick build.
Thanks, yes, this one was a nice fast build.
Another Awesome Build
Thanks Charlie!
Have been really enjoying your colour choices on your cars. Picked up the apple gloss red the other day for my first car build.
Thanks, hope you enjoy the color!
Watching the video will answer every single question you have. Thanks!
@@hpiguy so glad it didn't come still with them 2 piece hard plastic slicks. That made me very happy to want to pursue this one again
I almost picked this kit last Saturday. I've built it in the past as a stock Nova SS 350, but I'd like to do it now with the Big Block (if I had my own Nova).
It should come out sweet any way it's built up. :)
I built this kit and I made it a flip nose
heck yeah joe bet it looks good too i'm build mine as a pro touring car putting a nascar frame under mine lot of work but it''s coming alone nice i had this car when i was kid in the 80s and i still have it to this day going to re store one day lol
Every big box store has it in the US. www.walmart.com/ip/Pledge-Floor-Gloss-Original-27-Fluid-Ounces/15136693?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2127&adid=22222222227009393605&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40343007512&wl4=pla-78303532352&wl5=1028269&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=15136693&wl13=2127&veh=sem&gclid=Cj0KCQiAxs3gBRDGARIsAO4tqq0fcymRFjJhJKDjC_TZ1oYHGAXNoz-CKaHMy5C7zGr7AkaJpKP8cp0aAjV0EALw_wcB
I plan on doing a gloss coat video with spray cans soon and in that video I'll also demo putting Future on it.
You literally just brush it on the surface and walk away for a couple hours. It levels and dries to a smooth finish on its own.
is it just me or is there mold lines on the rear quarter panels ,up toward the top
looks good ,like the diorama set up
Yes, I didn't remove those.
I totally though you were crazy for picking that color, and then bam! It turned out great!
Thanks man!
great looking build sir well done
Thanks Eddie!
the old pro building the old pro. perfect
LOL, thanks!
You do such awesome work brother..
Thanks, I appreciate the support and nice words!
