Revell even made the hood correct! All AAR Cuda hoods were warped and didn't sit flat! That has been captured in the kit! Bravo! Beautiful work as always!
I have enjoyed every one of your kit reviews and build ups since I discovered your channel. Thank you for the accurate reviews and building tips. The only problem I have is that I develop a strong urge to purchase nearly every kit you review. I have well over 100 kits waiting to be built and you keep tempting me with more. Oh, well...it is a very nice problem to have.
That is so crazy that you just built this one because I was looking at it yesterday at hobby lobby..... Now that I see how good the kid is I think I'll be going today to get it. Keep up the great work!
Real nice build Chris! Nice subject! On the hood, try painting it Go Mango then black. That's the way the surrounding areas were done. I think it might match better then.
I'm agree with you, Toppervision1. I think the Go Mango was a kind of "primer" on the front fenders and doors, so it "altered" the appearance of the flat black. Any way you did a great job, Chris. Congratulations!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. An outstanding work you've done. Looking the Cuda, I can see that Challenger's 2006 body is almost the same but lightweight version. Beautiful indeed.
Another great job! Beautiful. I have done the cuda with the shaker hood. Used oil rubbed bronze (rustoleum) for the underside. Gives it a little different look. Works great on semi frames.
Another excellent video from you Chris! Thank you for your model kit review of the new Revell '70 AAR 'Cuda and I can't wait to get a couple kits soon!
I'm not a model builder but a collector of 1:24 diecast. Many (too many) are Mopar. I just wanted to express the appreciation and respect I have for your skills. Hands of a surgeon! Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Looks great! Excellent detail and replica of the real thing as always! Anyone who brings a real Mango AAR Cuda to a car show would be proud to display this model on the dashboard of the car!
That ARR Cuda is a gorgeous model , love the Go Mango, gotta be my Favorite color ..... l did have the Dodge Challenger, from monograme ... sadly gone ..... l think my dad had a clear out of alot of my models and stuff when I moved out. Once we've moved house ourselves, I'm gonna be looking out for some kits to build . Thanks to your inspirational videos 👍
The stance is off, the AARs came with rearched rear springs for better clearance for the side megaphone exhausts. The rear polyglass G60 rears vs the E60s up front provided the factory stance.
Nice build. Brings fond memories. I recently built the Revell Sox & Martin variation on this kit. Mostly. When I was an aspiring punk kit, late ‘70s, my neighbour had a ‘70 AAR that was identically colour in and out to your build. Only it was The ‘70s and these cars were not as prized as they are today. This one had the stripes gone, the front spoilers and fog lights removed and had a race Hemi in it where the 340 used to live. same white interior. Looked great. My buddy and I had seen the beast at the local Chrysler dealership just days before. We drooled all over that matt black. Then the evening came that it arrived next door. The car was running with the headers open and our whole house shook. That car was awesome. It was my alarm clock for a few years as the owner worked at a local mill and drove it to work, leaving at exactly 7 am every morning and I was never the same. I still get chills when I hear a Hemi with a big cam. I got to see him one afternoon on the highway close to our home. He was going a little fast and the local RCMP had their radar trap set. Our hero did a 180 spin and hammered the throttle. The left wheel actually lifted. I thought that sort of thing only happened at the movies but that RCMP big block Monaco saw nothing but the Hemi disappearing. Of course all the local constables knew my neighbour and they waited patiently at his house for his homecoming. I finally got around to building a replica in scale last summer. I used the S&M kit to get the Hemi and big wheels ( my inspiration had 5 spoke Cragar S/S wheels). I bought the spoiler and hood in resin online and had to create the vinyl top of my memory car from scratch. Thanks RUclips world! I see your sponsor now sells kits. Otherwise my paint and detail approach was just as you showed. Now if I could only make that model shake the house...
WOW , Revell changed that Kit completely from the original released kit . If Im not wrong they have taken their 1/25 Special Edition 70 Plymouth Hemi Cuda kit and added the "29 new conversion parts" to make it an AAR . Bloody sweet !!! Because the other AAR Cuda kits were 1/24 !! I SO CAN NOT WAIT TO GET ME TEN OR @ DOZEN OF THESE KITS !! lol
Wow, nicely done...... I have a 1/24 "Nash Bridges" '71 Cuda Convertable from Revell I'll be building soon. Wasn't planning on painting it yellow like on the show, so I may opt for your color sceme. Love the channel, subbed!
Thanks for another great build... I wasn't feeling the choice of body color thou... I was hoping for that purple or a candy purple... Lol... & you need to start flocking your interiors... Step that game up... Stay blessed bro... - DontAskWhyItsJustCuz
Super nice *BS23J0B* ! Looks fantastic in *EK2* *Go* *Mango* with the white interior . Now a couple of points : 1.) The interior kick panels are white (or door panel colour) on the Barracuda (et al.) ; same goes for the headliner 2.) Mufflers were black from the factory 3.) Blackout on radiator core support for 99% of applications (especially bright body colours) I wish that Revell would've towed-the-line just a bit more and : 1.) Included a correct 8 3/4 differential ( Dana 60's only available with 440 , 440+6 , and Hemi ) 2.) Included the correct different-sized tyres (I'm okay with "no-name" , but they should've been different sizes per the "1:1" cars) Great job as always , *Chris* ! Keep 'em coming !
I get alot of kits from Hobbylinc not the Japanese company but the one here in the states..check out their site always got discounted kits , only problem i run into is they usually get the newest releases last. Or maybe it just seems like it. but always worth scanning around in there
Yum!!!! Orange Sherbert with Vanilla. Always loved it alway will. Great ending on the AAR Cuda. Wonderful job as Always. Gr8 job Chris, and good going Revell. Keep 'em coming. AND give us our '29 Roadster AGAIN!!!!! Again, Fantastically good, Chris. Peace, God Bless. Tom T4, out.
Awesome kit and equally awesome build. I ordered it today and I'll have it Saturday 9/14. It gets into line behind the Starksy and Hutch Gran Torino, the '86 Chevy Monte Carlo SS, and the '70 Pontiac Firebird T/A kits (all Revell) that I've gotten over the last two weeks, as I've watched your build videos -- not to mention those cool magnifying glass and rubber-tipped tweezers. Just now finishing up a Revell '70 Dodge Charger R/T level 5 (in Plum Crazy, natch ;-) right now, so which one to do next? Hmmmmm... ;-)
aah yes the cuda what a beast , this is a kit worth doing more than once, since it looks great in alot of colors , nice work as always chris. paint always makes us scratch our heads...doesnt take much to mis-match for no apparent reason..maybe try dullcote on the hood see if it mite dull it down to match better
very nice job...when you re-did the hood...did you use the same primer? The black on the hood looks like it didn't flatten as much as it dried....looks almost semi gloss....looks awesome non-the-less....or perhaps the humidity in the area you painted was different when you repainted it the second time.
I used Testors Semi gloss black instead of my usual Rustoleum and got many various shades, l think it is depending on temp and moisture index. Love the build. AAARR Matey!!
Great review as always: two questions 1. What do you use to Dullcote the chrome, a matte clear spray? 2. Do you use a protective coating on the flat paint on the hood?
I am building this kit right now. Saw your question regarding the flat black on the body and engine hood. My only though is it could have been the base coat of the body was your finish color and therefore might have effected the black finish. BTW do you trim your decals closer to the actual design to get rid of any over film of the decal. I noticed when I put the decal on the center console it did not sit all the way down into the thin parts because of the decal width, if that makes sense. Your suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you,
Thank's for those kit reviews videos, i Watch every one you make it helps a lot planning my builds!!For the non matching flat black paint on the Hood, i think it's only because on the body (fenders tops) has been painted over the orange lacquer but the Hood doesn't have this orange lacquer on before you applied the black! You probably shot the Hood black directly over a primer coat. So the base coat being different, you got a little deffernce on the shine!Keep those nice builds going!
Always loved the real Cuda.. and I love this model of it. This is becoming redundant, but no way around saying it.. great job :) Small question, if I may.. when you were painting the chassis parts black - at around minute 11:26 - you sprayed the parts once, then right away, you turned them over.. wouldn't the paint on the turntable be wet and ruin the painted side that touches it?
Thanks! I only do the flip when I can lay it down on points that will not show when the body is on. So it won't hurt of the paint in those areas gets gunked up.
Thank you for the video, I've enjoyed watching many of them!! I would love to watch the detail painting you do as well, could you start including that in your videos? Thanks again!
I do show it in some videos, not all. Depends on how much time I have. Two full builds, plus videos/editing/producing in one week is already a lot of work.
realy nice kit, perfect fitting.. im also working on cuda right now. but im thinking about making a muscle car colection dodge charger r/t 1968 chevy chevell ss 1968 camaro z28rs 1969 ford mustang boss 302 1969 any ideas what more can add to this list..
I've always liked the flat black hood Chrysler put on thier muscle cars. Not only does it look badass but it also serves a purpose. It cuts down on glare from the sun light hitting the hood. When you're hauling ass in a mean machine like that you don't want the sun getting in your eyes
Looks beautiful! About the hood, and I'm just guessing here, whatever you used to strip it may have interacted with the new paint or the plastic in some way. Maybe a coat of flat clearcoat to seal the hood, before repainting, might've helped? Like I said, I'm just guessing.
Great upload once again HPI! I was wondering, could you make a video showing how to make those "painting devices" at @10:40 onwards please, especially the one used to hold the car body? Many thanks!
Those were decals, from the provided sheet. The pistol grip and steering wheel were painted, craft paint, Milk Chocolate over black primer to imitate the plastic wood.
The Cuda is such a good looking car, it is my dream car.
Revell even made the hood correct! All AAR Cuda hoods were warped and didn't sit flat! That has been captured in the kit! Bravo! Beautiful work as always!
Thanks for spending some time on the channel!
I was thinking the same thing on the hood...Revell even warped the hood like Plymouth did.
After multiple "rewinds" - watching parts over and over - PERFECTION. WOW. Most enjoyable on so many levels.
Thank you for sharing...
Thanks RA!
Always love the ARR Cuda, you did a great job building that kit.👍😃
Thanks Charles!
Thanks again for another great build. Looks really nice.
Thanks Mary!
My favorite so far. Love the 'Cuda, had one when I was a young Private. I was very popular. Thanks for your vids, getting back into modelling myself.
Glad you like them!
Greatcs always Chris. I always have built armor for many years but thanks to you I have built semis cars and figures. Thanks!
Excellent, I love it all! I'll build just about anything.

LOL, yeah it can be a pain with all those kits around. Thanks for watching and get to building some!
That is so crazy that you just built this one because I was looking at it yesterday at hobby lobby..... Now that I see how good the kid is I think I'll be going today to get it. Keep up the great work!
Very cool, have fun with your new kit!
Ahaa yes. I remember those days.. Racing stripes , blackout panels and roaring engines. Thanks for a fun build.
Thanks for watching!
I agree with you guys, that was my first thought as well. If it was my kit it would drive me nuts if I didn't repaint it.
Yup, I agree, I didn't do the orange on the hood and that made all the difference.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. An outstanding work you've done. Looking the Cuda, I can see that Challenger's 2006 body is almost the same but lightweight version. Beautiful indeed.
Thank you Charlie!
Very Cool, nice memories. Best friend had one in '75. But your missing one thing......Fuzzy Dice hanging from the mirror!
Thanks man!
Shifter boot black, shifter vertical piece is chrome, pistol grip wood color. Nice job, my favorite model.
Thank you!
Great review of this highly detailed kit Chris, love the color choice!!
Thank you Ron!
Chris, another impressive build my friend! I really enjoy the detail and colors used!
Thanks John!
Another great job! Beautiful. I have done the cuda with the shaker hood. Used oil rubbed bronze (rustoleum) for the underside. Gives it a little different look. Works great on semi frames.
Thanks!
I used that bronze to replicate carbon fiber on my GT Lemans build earlier this year. Loved it.

Thanks Max!
Beautiful Color choice!!!
Car models aren't usually my thing, but this is just one beautiful looking model.
Great work! I may just have to get me one!
Thanks Jarod, I love anything model related, I end up getting sent a lot of cars to review so that's what we see the most of.

The AAR turned out great!! I could’ve bought a Ice Frost Blue one back in 1988 for $5000.00, but had a baby on the way.
Sweet, thanks Jeff!
You make this look so simple, my Chevelle has taken me so long to finish I started last summer 🤣😁🤘👍
I have an older aar cuda kit I'm going to buy this kit love it
Thanks bud! These kits go together so nicely, it's really no big chore.
Fantastic build mate, love that interior

Another nice build! Keep'em coming.

Excellent build Chris! Great tips as always!
Thank you Dave!
Great job. Thanks for all of the build tips. This is really a nostalgia item for me. You sold one, maybe two.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great videos, love your enthusiasm. I listen to to these while I build.
Thanks for coming along for the fun!

You got that rt man!!! I dnt like ther 40% off i love it!!!! Lol!
I just grabbed the big 1/16 scale 79 firebird kit fer like 24 bucs! Hell of a deal!
Thanks for watching man! I'm sure they will, Revell sends a lot to HL.

As usual another perfect build absolutely love the colour of this model
Thank you very much!
Really nice kit… one discrepancy- they include a Dana 60 axle when all AARs used Chrysler’s 8 3/4 rear end.
Great build and fantastic model!!!
Beautiful kit build Chris. Got the duster and boss mustang finally.
Thanks, enjoy your kits!

Very nice build as usual my friend keep up the great work
Thanks a lot Ed!
beautiful man, just beautiful. great job again. u da man! keep up the fine work. i always enjoy watching your builds.
Thank you again George!
Hi chris great build. Do you airbrush the coats of future on and if so could you show us maybe?
It's brushed on straight from the bottle, I've shown it in a few reviews.
@@hpiguy That's the great thing about Future - you can brush it on and it doesn't dry with streaks.
Great job! I would still love to see you assemble a vintage Charlie’s Angels van kit! 😎
Haha, thanks!
If they reissue it I would, but I don't see that happening.
Heading to hobby lobby now,You just inspired me to build a Cuda 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 keep them builds rollin HpiGuys
Thanks Skip, enjoy the kit!
hpiguys Workshop no doubt I most definitely will
Great looking Cuda buddy, well done Chris!...Bill
Thanks Bill!
I think this is your best built model, OUT STANDING
Thanks a lot!
Looking good Chris! Love the AAR bonnet for this kit. Looking forward to getting my Hemi started 🍻

aah yes the cuda what a beast , this is a kit worth doing more than once, since it looks great in alot of colors , nice work as always chris. paint always makes us scratch our heads...doesnt take much to mis-match for no apparent reason..maybe try dullcote on the hood see if it mite dull it down to match better

I was waiting for this one. Great review as always Chris. Thanks for doing all these. Love your channel
Thank you Jorge!
Great review as always: two questions
1. What do you use to Dullcote the chrome, a matte clear spray?
2. Do you use a protective coating on the flat paint on the hood?
Dullcote works just fine for dulling chrome.
I don't use a coating on the flat paint.
The aar cuda had a body color rear bumper with chrome supports for style under the bumper
How long does each build take? I've used Rust-Oleum before and it seemed to take a week before it dried.
Depends on the model but no more than a week usually.
I am building this kit right now. Saw your question regarding the flat black on the body and engine hood. My only though is it could have been the base coat of the body was your finish color and therefore might have effected the black finish. Another great build Chris. I believe the back panel is called a valance. I would love to see one in purple.
Thanks for watching Bob!
Awesome ! Great job again ! 👍😊
Thank you Henrique!
Awesome build as usual! Do you ever super detail your kits ? You know fuel lines brake lines hoses electrical
I do mostly out of the box for my reviews.
I want to review the kit as it comes for the most part.
I would love to see a video on how you put on the decals. Thats an area i have always had issues on
See my Enterprise D video.
I'm putting this one on my wish list.

Love the kit but i seen that you put the shifter in backwards
And you didn't watch long enough to see it was quickly fixed.....cool.

beautiful as always. What do you do after you cut pieces from the parts tree, do you touch them up?
Yes a simple touch up with a brush or marker if they can be seen.
Great looking 'Cuda!

I've always liked the flat black hood Chrysler put on thier muscle cars. Not only does it look badass but it also serves a purpose. It cuts down on glare from the sun light hitting the hood. When you're hauling ass in a mean machine like that you don't want the sun getting in your eyes
How do you keep Molotow marker-painted pieces from smudging? Video's are great! Excellent rattle-can paint work.
Heat gun after application gets them drying much faster.

About the hood, and I'm just guessing here, whatever you used to strip it may have interacted with the new paint or the plastic in some way. Maybe a coat of flat clearcoat to seal the hood, before repainting, might've helped? Like I said, I'm just guessing.

Thanks Peter!
that turn out great but anything that comes from your bench turns out great by the way way what did you use for the wood grain
Those were decals, from the provided sheet.
The pistol grip and steering wheel were painted, craft paint, Milk Chocolate over black primer to imitate the plastic wood.
Well done, keep it going
Thanks man!
