The Sub 25 on it’s own is a nice instrument. With the full control layout and midi CC implementation I enjoy using mine as a controller for soft synths. Monark, Arturia mini, and on iPad Moog’s own Model D app are some of my favorites. Forced to sell my real Model D for financial reasons this is as close as I can get. Sometimes I nearly forget I’m using a plug in and as a bonus we get polyphony! I love hardware instruments AND plug in instruments but in either case I need knobs and buttons.
I could really expand my sound design with this beast 😲 . Reminds me of the Yamaha GX1 but affordable . thank you for the video Jef , always learning new and awesome things from this channel def will have to add this one to my list 😃
Obviously, this controller has a lot more forms to express, but I'd love to see a video that goes over aftertouch with your S-Series keyboard and using KK. There's a labyrinth of forum posts on this, but after some searching, I couldn't find a clear solution. Thanks for the always great content
Very cool in terms of the additional expressiveness that can be attained. This model does allow VST support, but the initial setup with various soft synths and misc hardware, while flexible, I think is more fiddly than I have patience for. I think the sweet spot for me is if it is married within a hardware device, such as Arturia Polybrute. Perhaps if I did the setup and left it in place for future use it could be okay, I just fear one more thing to distract me from actually just playing. Thank you as always for your great work sharing this.
Thanks Ray! For me it’s the patches in their Lie software, less about controlling other stuff TBH. Their patches are just so inspiring. I also find their controller software very simple to use.
They are coming out with Osmose. (slightly, similar to the Polybrute though, potentially more expressive!!) (Basically, the Touche capabilities throughout the entire keybed with various methods of play)
Is there a trick to getting the sub 25 VI to play nice with your DAW? I am having a heck of a time getting things to work. For example, if I did what you did dragging the vi instance to the daw, it always tells me to configure it, but it never seems to “stick.”
Hello. Expressive E has a video on Orchestral Libraries in their Touche Playlist. Touche is truly special. I'm still learning how to figure the cc programs myself and midi controls. (new producer). I also just recently moved from 25 keys-88 keys, so I will be able to fully utilize my instruments//vsts/hardware.
Objecting a bit to just one thing, 'not being paid'. They were obviously not not expecting you to do a video. It costs a bit. It's not a review, but you were paid something. Unless you sent it back. It's too bad this version requires software. Or rather, it's for DAWs not studios. I say too bad only because we know software will brick its use at some point at which there will be no replacement, so you can't incorporate it in your setup, it's not a "keeper". Love your T-shirt and watch. :)
Hi! Do you mean you have a MIDI file on a track in your project, and then you want to control with the touché afterwords? If so, definitely! You would just arm the track to record and the information would be recorded over top of your other track with the notes. You could then glue them together if they were separate chunks of info!
On Windows Touché SE is a disaster, super buggy, the third time I try it in 2 years, still not working, the authorization process is awful, scanning plugin doesn't work, I don't recommend this piece of gear.
@@jefgibbons I've been ranting so much about it the last few days that it finally worked and pretty well actually, you believe it? It is actually a very awesome controller that I am finally going to enjoy, thanks.
Loving the moog content! Hope to see more of the sub25.
For sure!

That thing is cool
I used Touché + Lie' + UVI Shade then sidechained with Trackspacer. Has anyone else tried something similar?
Can you use the Touche SE without Lie? What about hardware synths that dont have a vst editor, plain midi basically)?
They have another version that is more expensive. That’s the one that you would need.

Can this help with orchestra control ? (Spitfire, Berlin series, Iconica etc)

Jef Gibbons Can you use this with a midi file or only if you physically playing the keys? I can't find the answer anywhere.

@@jefgibbons Yes like take a midi file from Scaler 2 them placing on a track with CZ with and Touche'. I can't play keys.
@@OscarSlapp Yeah that should work!
@@jefgibbons Yes!Thanks Jef. Wife just got it for me as a Father's Day gift. With her work discount is was $174.

It’s called a modulation wheel? 😂
Should we expect some Push 2 videos soon? :)
Good eye! In a little bit... still working the kinks out!
If I get one, I can pretend I have a polybrute.
Honestly, I saw that and thought the same thing ;)
@@jefgibbons Especially with the similar names. I wouldn't be surprised if Arturia OEMs them.

Sorry to hear that, is it a specific version of windows?
