House was very right in his monologue. His style practice is the classic case of giving to charity to look good vs caring about the cause - he doesn’t really care about the patient and their wellbeing, he only cares about finding out what’s wrong with them. Whether it’s curable or not, he will 100% find out what’s wrong with you and give you an answer, even if it’s not about saving your life and making you happy. For most doctors, caring about people would outweigh their pure curiosity for the unknown, but House has been through a lot.
You misunderstood him. It's not that a doctor shouldn't sleep well when he makes a mistake, it's that he should acknowledge the mistake. "It isn't your fault" js wrong. "You fucked up, it happens, learn from it" is what should be
Maybe, maybe not. Doctor's make dozens of decisions every day and if they lost sleep over every bad decision they would be worse the next day and make even worse decisions. You can learn without making yourself feel terrible.
@@COTC_Community it's not. I've been seeing my father as a doctor all my life. I've seen him predict heartattacks , essentially saving people . but there were times he predicted death too. and that happens as well. by now he's been a doctor for more than 30 years and it all still makes him lose sleep. and if it's someone like house... well, you lose more people than you save . that's gotta have a psychological effect
Because they were a lot alike, they took risks to save lives. Foreman isn't as bitter as House though but they respect & Foreman even admitted he liked House in an early season
House stunned because hes a musician too, and Hugh Laurie also a musician, a country musician. so it is highly logical he surprised the man gave him his trumpet.
@@SAADD no way I'd trust somebody that can't spell a very basic word with a needle, medication or any of a doctors general duties. As a character study, season 1 House is my favourite. Back when he was still a realistic human being. He was very abrasive but cared about his work and people. Afterwards he was still very interesting and fun to watch but the character became less and less realistic. Underrated comment
I'm basically Dr.Hamilton of software engineering. I do what I do and I sleep well knowing my code is full of bugs.
The way House says the stuff about not sleeping better goes completely against his claim of not caring about his patients...
Me: I want to die
House: Say no More
- I'm in pain
- Yes... aren't we all?
Majestic.
I love you, person behind this account
That scene with house and Forman was so profound. And house was 100% right. Being a doctor is not just a job.
When two great actors meet then you can see alchemy in art and art becomes magic.
5:20 a haunting exchange... and a relatable one
i don't know if i've written this before, but - one of the most beautiful moments in this series.
- I'm in pain
- yeah, aren't we all....
It's a crazy world. One person would live with pain to be able to walk, while another would give up walking to live without pain.
I tell myself I dont have time to re watch all of House, but here I am watching like an hour or two of clips everyday lol.
This was one of the most satisfying episode endings in the series, nice work House ❤️👏👏
This is the only patient House has had nothing but respect
@NICOLE huh whut
House has a point, when a doctor screws up shouldn't sleep well
That’s bloody unrealistic lol
You misunderstood him. It's not that a doctor shouldn't sleep well when he makes a mistake, it's that he should acknowledge the mistake. "It isn't your fault" js wrong. "You fucked up, it happens, learn from it" is what should be
Maybe, maybe not. Doctor's make dozens of decisions every day and if they lost sleep over every bad decision they would be worse the next day and make even worse decisions. You can learn without making yourself feel terrible.
José Luís Lopes yes, that’s a more reasonable proposition, and it’s not what the original poster was saying.
2:14 ~ 2:55 is life changing dialogue
Should be each senior doctor's conversation with their juniors.
“He sleeps better at night, he shouldn’t” what an amazing line.
House doesn’t get many gifts but he gets the best ones!
Always loved the interest House had in Forman. He knew he had the potential to be great.
Because they were a lot alike, they took risks to save lives. Foreman isn't as bitter as House though but they respect & Foreman even admitted he liked House in an early season
im sure house will come up with some deal with a patient he cant lose to manipulate his way to cure a person, so he can solve a puzzle :)
While the puzzle is House's motivation, I think he genuinely wants to make people better
He actually does find a treatment and even reverses his paralysis :D
Thank you for posting the day I had surgery and made it home!!! No stay in the hospital
I'm always happy when Foreman has to eat it.
Tell him not to die.
This is my favorite episode in season 1!
This is my favorite episode in any season. I think it is because this is the patient I find most interesting.
DNR- I'm guessing episode 9
House stunned because hes a musician too, and Hugh Laurie also a musician, a country musician. so it is highly logical he surprised the man gave him his trumpet.
One of the few persons on the Earth House respects gave him a gratitude priceless token, "wow" was an understament.
Season one was literally just a different show.
I felt the same with season 8.
It *literally* wasn't.
That's most shows tho, and different or not it's still brilliant
@@TheBBQify It got better and better don't get me wrong, but season one was really unique.
@@marcusgaius it feels so odd seeing someone pretend to be Double D using a word incorrectly
proud to be a doctor and COVID19 frontline barrior .
There's absolutely zero chance that you're a doctor and you can't spell barrier
@@j.jbinks9669 well , spellings aren't exactly a doctor's cup of tea .
Get that in your little head .
@@SAADD no way I'd trust somebody that can't spell a very basic word with a needle, medication or any of a doctors general duties. Surprised you haven't killed anybody, quite frankly you should resign.
It just speaks to poor standards of education or laziness, neither of which are really acceptable as a Doctor are they?
love it when house calls foreman “eric” at the end :)
When that song played when he gave house that idk why but I was just like “perfect”
Wow. If anyone says House doesn't care, they just need to watch the scene between him, and Foreman.
Moments like these are integral to understanding House's entire character
Can't help, but notice that Peacock logo in the preview now. Gotta push that service on all fronts, huh
House proved he's a doctor in his own class, above everyone else ....
As a character study, season 1 House is my favourite. Back when he was still a realistic human being. He was very abrasive but cared about his work and people. Afterwards he was still very interesting and fun to watch but the character became less and less realistic. In later seasons, he was just basically passing the time by using people in convoluted mind games. Mind games on mind games plus people constantly enabling him.
This is the only patient that Dr. House really connected with each other.
5:24 - Two specialists of theit field who understand what drives them, and their pain. Such a sad scene.
Two amazing actors playing two amazing roles. Hollywood, take notes
The chat with foreman is what made him fail in the other hospitals he worked on
The writing has always been so good in this series. Doesn't insult us like so many dumbed down shows that exist currently. I still can't get used to seeing chase as a fireman.
4:53 I cant hear that without thinking of the tiktok song....
That was an OLD time trumpet case!
I have one similar, and yes, I am approaching the seventh decade.😂
*The value is insane. I got one with the hopes of making some money years ago. I was around 9 at the time so I picked it up in a charity shop. cost me £1.50. We were doing what is called a carboot sale & a collector spotted my Trumpet in the old style case & told my parents it was worth over £2,000. Needless to say they gave me the £1.50 & went on to make £2,500 I didn't see a penny of it either.*
Great vdieo good advice will help many people achieve their goals
This ep is one of the best. This and the one with a black senator. Could watch them forever.

"If what he does truly matters he shouldn't sleep better at night"
Dr cocks would say bull to that he would say you cant let things could have done eat at you or the hospital well eat you alive
