The New Suit-Case Size Minigun

- The XM556 Microgun made its debut at SHOT Show 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The suitcase size minigun was a certified crowd pleaser.
The traditional M134 minigun fires the 7.62mm round from a six-barrel rotary machine gun at rate of up to 6000 rounds per minute.
Engineers at Empty Shell LLC kept all these same characteristics, but designed the Microgun around the 5.56mm NATO cartridge. By doing this, they were able to make the Microgun half the size of the M134. Designed as a defensive suppression weapon, the XM556 can be fired from the hip using a 1000 round backpack. The gun with loaded backpack weigh less than 100 pounds.
The XM556 can also be mounted. Mounts and accessories designed for the M134 will work with the Microgun making adoption easier.
Glenn Flemming, one of the developers of the new gun, described working on the project as a once in a lifetime opportunity. "There's very few times that you can work on something that says revolutionary, and this is actually one of those times, I can say that." says Flemming.
Currently the XM556 is only available to the police and military. There's no MSRP yet either, but it's surely not cheap. And don't forget to factor in the ammo.

it sounds rather risky to allow everyone to own a mini minigun. if that thing gets in the wrong hands it could be way more destructive than any other gun. I mean I can understand wanting to have one of these. mini miniguns are cool, but:
1. that thing costs a fuckton to shoot and probably is not cheap to buy.
2. any other gun will likely do a better job at defending you or your house. yes it will quickly kill the intruder, but it probably takes long to ready one of these and the damage to anything behind the intruder will be extreme.

Which tells you they don't want to keep these out of civilian hands, just out of the hands of anyone who isn't rich. That tells you their true goal.

Anything the police can own, civilians should have access to as well. If not then you lend yourself to authoritarianism.
Since I don’t think police should have this in the first place I also don’t want even ANTIFA to be mowed down by them. Regardless of how much I’d love to put ANTIFA down myself, preservation of the 2nd amendment is more important than my own desires.
when did the police tried to kill civilians on purpose yeah?
They can choose. Like you and me. They could bust that door down, blow it up with C4, surround your house with a blockade, or anything else. But they choose what is efficient and appropriate to the mission.
Although I still want to see a door being mowed down by a mini gun. Oh wait I forgot the GAU-8

Search "auto glove" which was just approved by ATF stating that using a motor to fire a gun is legal as long as the motor is not attached to the gun, but held by the user. So in theory make one of these where the shooter has to hold the motor, and it would be approved by the ATF.
You can own one these so if they put a hand crank on it it would be a Semi auto mini gun ruclips.net/video/_4i9_kkg30o/видео.html

They haven't really done anything new, GE already made the XM214 microgun which was a man portable 5.56 minigun intended for infantry use in the 1970's.
That looks like something out of a videogame.
obvious yes, citizens should own them. With the supreme court case of U.S. vs. Miller basically ruled that a short barreled shotgun is not protected under the 2nd Amendment, thus can be regulated under the NFA(created im 34' after the valentines day shooting) So according to that verdict, infantry weapons are protected under the 2nd Amendment. Fast foward to today and you will realize that most infantry weapons can and do have select fire capabilities. So under the supreme courts ruling, the Hughes Amendment is the most unconstitutional Policy to be put in place. This could be argued for suppressor as well if we coin in special operations. Technically the military m4 has a 14" barrel so sbr's could also be exempt from that. Some desrructuive devises like a 40mm grenade launcher, grenades, and large caliber anti-tank rifles can be used as well. So destructive devises also be exempt. Then with AOW's there are pistols that do have a 2nd pistol grip, and the CIA/FBI can use pen/briefcase guns. so again, can be exempt. we could even throw pistols for those under 21 because they can join the military at 18, and can get a service pistol. You get the picture I am painting here. Spread this like melted butter on a granite table to open more eyes and possibly take it to court.

"Since 1934, there appear to have been at least two homicides committed with legally owned automatic weapons. One was a murder committed by a law enforcement officer (as opposed to a civilian)." Firstly not only is it at least, but it is at most. There have only been 2 murders with legal machine guns and one of them was a police officer who took bribes killing a drug dealer for not bribing him. Nothing prohibiting police from buying and using machine guns. The officer and an accomplice were charged with 18 years for murder. And lets be fair, police tend to kill people legally with their full auto machine guns. In the 6 years following the machine gun ban, only 4 out of 713 murdered police officers were killed by 'machine guns' which were illegally modified and NOT legally owned. This shows that criminals don't care about your machine gun ban. They make their own. Law abiding citizens who own legal machine guns get punished for no reason when cops and criminals can do whatever they want because neither of them follow the law.
.
The paperwork which you have to do to get a machine gun do a good job at preventing badguys from using them. Too bad that people think you have to take every single gun away from everyone in order to prevent crime, instead of making all the fun toys legal to own for goodguys. A gun is like a car, it can be fun to drive a car in a safe race-track without harming anyone, why can't we shoot guns in a gun range for fun the exact same way?
.
36,560 motor vehicle deaths according to www.iihs.org/
38,390 firearm deaths... Over 24,000 of them from suicide. Only ~14,000 murders with firearms. in 2018 According to the CDC
So without suicides, cars are 260% more deadly than firearms.
116,000 non deadly firearms incident vs 2,000,000 car accidents which result in permanent injury in the USA.
When you conscider that are 1.2 guns per person and .8 cars per person that makes cars even deadlier, less cars kill more people than guns ever will.
.
You are right, America is the bloodiest country in the world due to the fact that driving a car is legal. We should ban driving cars and make owning miniguns legal because its generally proven that owning a gun is safer than driving a car.
Shall not be infringed means shall not be infringed so yes to Miniguns.

Why stop at miniguns?? Everyone should be free to own 20mm auto-canons, 152mm howitzers, and have Katyusha rocket battery mounted on your pickup trucks. And real enthusiasts should be allowed to buy Scud missiles, and drive a main battle tank to work. GE minigun was/is always the crowd pleaser at the Creek Night Shoot. Waaaaaaaaaaarrhhhhum - tracer bullet rope. Don't forget folks, you have to carry a battery around with this machine to operate it. I didn't notice the Terminator with a 60# deep-cell marine battery strapped to his belt. Maybe the integration of lithium technology is getting the battery weight down?
Modern lithium pushes about 5 times the capacity of lead-acid, at a third of the volume and a quarter of the weight. And almost zero energy loss.
new tech might reduce that weight even more.
GE we bring good things to life. Sometimes they light them up!

"Definitely you" . Yaaahhh Babi!! Get som! Get som!
Fuck yeah Glenn. Knew you were a great gunsmith and this idea is awesome.
I question what can this minigun do that an M249 or MG4 can't do?
Its cool but the fact that you need a big fat backpack with a battery, which means you carry less rounds.
Which also means you'll run out of ammo faster as its gonna be eating through bullets like Rosie O Donnell at McDonalds.
If applied in the military it would be used like a tank is.
A Force Multiplier.
The weapons fire rate and suppressive capability alone trump a whole fire team dumping mags at a position.
It's like a Flamethrower.
Practical and has a "Shock and Awe" effect when used or seen.
I mean, you're not wrong about the suppressive fire capability, but that is if you believe that a high volume of fire has higher suppressive capabilities than a smaller volume of fire that is well aimed, which is one of the main reasons the Marine Corps did the switch from the M249 to the M27, along with the other reason being that the 249 was cumbersome, and made the machinegunner a primary target. Let's face it, if you see a fireteam approaching an ambush position the guy carrying a huge fuck off minigun is gonna be the primary target at the beginning of the engagement.
In addition, how would you even aim the gun? Because unlike an M60, an M249 and even the bigger M134, they have aiming systems, which I see as sorely lacking on this man portable version. Honestly it sounds like a cool idea in concept, but I don't reasonably see the application it would have in a military environment outside of fixed positions.

EscpdFrmPsykward I'm thinking over twenty grand.
EscpdFrmPsykward the reason machineguns are so expensive is because they're heavily regulated. a fully automatic m16 only costs about 700 dollars to make.

Try $40K for a post sample Garwood M134 build.
The XM556, not having the surplus parts support of the M134, would likely cost you 2-3x that.

And you Sir, are confirming his argument, because you are ignorant and small-minded.
The second amendment is there to protect the people from a corrupt government. So why should the people be better armed then the once they protect. Politicians and policemen are one of the most corrupt job world wide. I´m not saying, that every policemen is corrupt, the contrary. I think the most of them are hard working and law abiding people. But that doesn't say, that there aren´t more then enough very crooked law enforcement personnel. So should ShtF, we the people could defend ourselves, not necessarily with a mini-gun, but we do have ARs and Handguns. The reason for a mini-gun, would just be a lot of fun. I do understand your point of view, but I think, why shouldn´t a law abiding citizen be able to own a mini-gun. He´s not going to do any harm. I know I won't and those who would, wouldn't´t be able to buy it in the first place.I´m hoping for a well mannered and open-minded response.

Then I can suppress all my current guns and build out the guns for specific purposes without worry of it being long enough overall, having a long enough barrel, etc. Very rarely is there a need for high fire rates, and at that point I can pull a trigger fast enough for my needs. But the Hughes Amendment would be the target after the ATF.
REAPER 7.62 How about we do what we want since everyone else seems to be.
the ATF only enforces the rules, they don't make em. instead of the ATF it'll be the FBI or any police agency that will kick your door down.
"revolutionary"
someone clearly has never heard of the XM124 Microgun.
Dam yes i NEED One of these in my life
Answer: "shall not be infringed".
"Well Regulated Militia" = National Guard & Police. Not every citizen.
@@xXevilsmilesXx you miss the significance of the most important comma in the 'Bill of Rights', (the first 10 amendments to our constitution.)
(It is this 'comma' that separates the 'WHY' of the Second Amendment,
which is the ability of a...)
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State"
(To exist within a free State, and oppose if necessary a standing army if tyranny were to return.)
" , " ( there it is... the Comma...)
(...from the 'HOW' of the right, which is)
"the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
From Wikipedia:
Conflict and compromise in Congress produce the Bill of Rights
James Madison's initial proposal for a bill of rights was brought to the floor of the House of Representatives on June 8, 1789, during the first session of Congress. The initial proposed passage relating to arms was:
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country: but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person.
On July 21, Madison again raised the issue of his bill and proposed a select committee be created to report on it. The House voted in favor of Madison's motion, and the Bill of Rights entered committee for review. The committee returned to the House a reworded version of the Second Amendment on July 28. On August 17, that version was read into the Journal:
A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, being the best security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; but no person religiously scrupulous shall be compelled to bear arms.
In late August 1789, the House debated and modified the Second Amendment. These debates revolved primarily around risk of "mal-administration of the government" using the "religiously scrupulous" clause to destroy the militia as Great Britain had attempted to destroy the militia at the commencement of the American Revolution. These concerns were addressed by modifying the final clause, and on August 24, the House sent the following version to the Senate:
A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, being the best security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; but no one religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person.
The next day, August 25, the Senate received the amendment from the House and entered it into the Senate Journal. However, the Senate scribe added a comma before "shall not be infringed" and changed the semicolon separating that phrase from the religious exemption portion to a comma:
A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, being the best security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed, but no one religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person.
By this time, the proposed right to keep and bear arms was in a separate amendment, instead of being in a single amendment together with other proposed rights such as the due process right. As a Representative explained, this change allowed each amendment to "be passed upon distinctly by the States." On September 4, the Senate voted to change the language of the Second Amendment by removing the definition of militia, and striking the conscientious objector clause:
A well regulated militia, being the best security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
The Senate returned to this amendment for a final time on September 9. A proposal to insert the words "for the common defence" next to the words "bear arms" was defeated. A motion passed to replace the words "the best," and insert in lieu there of "necessary to the" . The Senate then slightly modified the language to read as the fourth article and voted to return the Bill of Rights to the House. The final version by the Senate was amended to read as:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
The House voted on September 21, 1789 to accept the changes made by the Senate.
The enrolled original Joint Resolution passed by Congress on September 25, 1789, on permanent display in the Rotunda, reads as:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

This should be required home protection for every domicile in America, yes I said America not the United States
You mean Canada, Argentina and Mexico too?
I feel, as I am sure many others do, that as taxpayers, a percentage of us being former military AND as American citizens, we ALL should exercise our Constitutional right to bear arms. Protection Rights, like liberty, should be defended at ALL times. Hell yeah! Put an XM556 in the hands of law-abiding citizens and taxpayers everywhere.
