While most comments are about the shipping cutscenes for Cloud and Aerith there's one thing that most other viewing gamers noticed that got a reaction along the lines of "Oh hell no. you didn't just end the trailer with Aerith about to be killed by Sephiroth with the Arbiters of fate in the background making it a fixed point in the story."

never really understood the aerith x cloud thing. Just makes way more sense that his lifelong friend Tifa would be his. While Zack "died" It never really felt right for cloud and aerith to get together. That's like taking your best friend's wife after he dies thats just fucked up man lmao

It's an OG thing that I am glad they brought back. Zack was very minor in OG and Aerith didn't even date him... she just had a crush on him and thought he was nice but that he was a player. When they created Crisis Core, they did not have plans to remake the OG so they took the liberty to establish a new couple which ofc ruined the original romance. But now it is back to what it should be.
aerith and cloud were always a thing in the OG, you can make arguments for both cloud/tifa and cloud/aerith. only after the OG did they develop crisis core and tbh i don't get why some people act like zack and aerith were married to each other or something like aerith was 16 yo when she met zack. he was her first love and they had a thing but it's not like they were in this deep comitted relationship. i'm not downplaying their relationship btw, it's just how it was presented to us. aerith loses contact with zack for 5 years and writes him one last goodbye later, zack dies and later on she meets cloud. aerith "dated" zack when she was like 16 and she is 22 when she meets cloud, she's a young girl that is more than allowed to move on from her first love. it's sad that she never had any closure with zack ofc but why should a young girl mop over her first love for the rest of her life? not to mention aerith's bond with cloud is much more developed than her bond with zack and she is one of the romantic choices for cloud. why would people not ship them? cloud and aerith have arguably the best romantic chemistry in remake. i love zack but i hate how crisis core completely mischaracterized aerith plus her "relationship" with zack although cute was very, very surface level. when i see cloud and aerith interact i feel something because their bond was written well and feels organic. when i see aerith and zack interact i don't feel much, they're cute but that's about it really.
