    I’ve watched this a bunch of times, but this is the first time I realized you’re driving through Wilsonville. I used to live there, then Canby, before moving to Idaho. Even bought my 2018 4Runner new at Wilsonville Toyota in 2017. Miss that area so much. ❤

    Thanks for a great vid. I’m going the same route in 2022. Thanks for showing how yours went. I really appreciate the channels you and your brother are doing, so helpful for novices like me. And it helps we share the same backyard (I live four minutes from the tire shop). What I mean by that is the terrain, trails, etc. are very relevant to me. Many thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experiences.

    I've been running 285/75r17 KO2s on my stock-suspension JKU for 4 years and 45,000 miles, and they still have plenty of tread left! I am blown away by these tires and they have taken me from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, and from the heat of Death Valley to the blizzards of Montana. I begin to think about changing them, then they just prove their value season after season. Great tires!

    Looks awesome! Great job!
    I agree with the author, the wider the width, the worse the stability and controllability. The greater the weight and, accordingly, the load on the bearings increases, the fuel consumption increases and the acceleration dynamics decreases. Personally, I prefer to increase the profile of the tire, for example setting 255/80/17.

    I went through 2 great sets of KO2's on my old FJ. They did great in everything except mud. Every tire has a weakness and mud is this one's. Easy to get 50k or more out of them if you rotate religiously. Lol. Agreed on Pink Floyd!!!

    285/75 r17 nice especially without having to change the front bumper. We recently went with a Hefty Fabworks front bumper and we fit 35x12.5r17. I know lots of people said that 34's and 35's you have to regear but with the right tire weight it's not to bad on power. We went with the Mickey Thompson MTZ P3's and they weight is not bad on them at all. Keep up the detailed work and videos.

    • @mastrtonberry2
      @mastrtonberry2 3 года назад

      I'm fairly new to learning how all of this works and I'm always looking for more input, but would not regearing and running 35s put extra stress on the transmission, especially on long drives? And is it that big of an issue even if it did?
      Thanks

    • @White_buffalo_4r
      @White_buffalo_4r 3 года назад +1

      @@mastrtonberry2 it's been done for years and it actually helps reduce the stress on everything due to the rotational torque it takes to turn the larger more aggressive tires. It does cause the motor and transmission to turn a little faster to create 1 revolution with the tire but that's how it helps build up the extra power to rotate them. Check out driving line on youtube he has a good video explaining regearing.

Toyo 305/70r17s are sitting in the shop already mounted on method 701s, SPC UCAs, super tight cab mount chop and pinch weld are done, and did the high clearance cut. We’re ready to go but King gave me a 36 week ETA on our shocks though. Being patient is tough when you know the finished product will be so awesome.

      I really appreciate the comment and compliment; our rigs are labors of love, right? The only difference between my 285 and your 305 is the width, yours being a full 12” and mine being 11.2”. I was concerned with how tight it would be next to my UCA’s (Ironman), but I don’t think you’ll have that with SPC’s tubular design. - did you have any rubbing on the front fenders? I notice you did not have the high clearance cut on this video
    - on your newer video any reason why you changed out the stock trail rims to aftermarket?
    - when you installed winch bumper and winch did it cause a rake and did it cause more rubbing on your 34”?
    - Currently , do you still have 34” on the runner? If so any prolonged issues having the 34”
    - any updated or further modifications made to accommodate the 34”?
    Still just the BMC, high clearance and suspension?

    Does your tire carrier bounce at all ?

    • @aired-downoverland9239
      @aired-downoverland9239  3 года назад

      It doesn’t bounce, but like all swing-out tire carriers, it moves a little. My brother has a full CBI rear bumper with a tire swing out; my RIGd moves no more than his. I can tell you it is very well built and very solid.

    good vid, but let's make something transparent for everyone dreaming of this..
    Making it work on road is much different than making it work off road.
    You'll rub off road 100% and possibly damage components.
    Takes $$$$ to make 34 -35 work off road properly.
    Good content however.

    • @aired-downoverland9239
      @aired-downoverland9239  3 года назад

      Matthew, the shift points are off a little, as compared to optimal. As a daily street and light Offroader it would be ok. If, however, you plan on some more aggressive offroading, re-gearing is advisable. I’ll be going with 4.88’s later this month, and a front air locker.
