For any 3rd Gen, when replacing the front struts, its worth replacing the lower ball joints and control arm bushings at the same time as well (assuming they haven't already been replaced). And possibly the outer tie rod ends if they need it. Then get an alignment. Takes a lot more than 5 minutes, but I get your marketing strategy.
EXCELLENT JOB FRIEND IF YOU FEEL ANY VIBRATION IN THE DRIVE LINE WHEN YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR I RECOMMEND YOU REPLACE THE REAR BUSHINGS CONTROL ARM IT TOOK ALMOST 2 YEARS TO FIND THE VIBRATION
I did a mild build 3 inch rough country lift, 285+70 +16 in. Tires. A couple light bars. Outside of that mostly stock I couldn't ask for a better truck.❤❤
Very happy to have come across your channel, the videos have been helping me with working on my own 3rd gen. Would you be able to tell me the specific specs of the Pro Comp wheels you used on both 4runners in the video? Thanks man and keep the videos coming!
Will 285s cause problems when off road? Looks like it wont be able to tuck when flexing. Was gonna go with 265's on my daughters 3rd gen but those 285's look nice.
DIY some retrofits and if you live in a place where things get rusty, get snowbound customs osr kit…it’s well worth $220. Of the RC shocks ride bad I recommend fox 2.0’s from accutune. They’ll tune it to your rig for free and they’re only $400.
This 4runner is not actually mine but the owner has some retrofits on order. The RC's are actually not bad at all, I used to have them on my 4runner but now I have 4th/5th gen bilstein 5100s. I'll check out those fox's!
Doing a similar build for the front 881s but with tundra 5 adjustable shock- how much lift did the runner get with your shocks and what perch do you have the shock on?
So all these parts were actually from my 4runner (the green one). When I originally lifted my 4runner, the bilstein rears were back ordered which is why I got the RC's. When I took all these parts off my 4runner to install on this other 4runner, one of the rear shocks was bad so RC sent me brand new ones under warranty. Hope that clarifies haha
How would you say the rear suspension in this 4runner with the RC’s feels in comparison to the setup in your green one? Ig in other words is it even worth it to go with the RC’s or save myself the time and just get myself some 5100’s
@cairoalmarez9644 I'd probably get the bilsteins if I was you. Nothing wrong with the RCs, they were fine while I had them although one of them did lose its charge in about a year. All that being said, the springs you choose for the rear will also make a big difference. I can't really compare this 4runner to my green one because they have totally different set ups. Long story short, get bilstein haha :)
Thanks! I actually have another video called "is budget suspension worth it" talking in more detail about this set up if you wanted to check it out! It's around $1100ish CAD
If you don’t mind me asking what ended up being the total cost of this build, I plan on doing something similar with mind but don’t wanna completely break the bank.
Well we actually used all of my old parts from my 4runner for this 4runner but if you bought it all new, probably would be sitting around $3500 usd (Suspension, wheels and tires, and front bumper)
@JakeKelsick I get parts from everywhere haha (whoever has the best deals) Rockauto, amazon, Facebook marketplace For suspension parts, I usually look around on google to find the best deals. Wheels and tires I bought used from fb marketplace
Ya definitely a bit of rub but nothing serious. It's pretty easy to fix with some trimming and hammering. Or you can get adjustable upper control arms and get a good alignment then you won't rub at all
Your 4 runners look nice man they look clean. I have been debating on doing something similar with my 96 toyota t100, and that's doing a custom front mesh grill with the lettering. How'd you end up making and fabricating your grill over stock? I'd like to that with my truck. And could you give me details on your custom bumper also.
Thank you! I actually have a video for both the bumper and the grill. Bumper is from coastal offroad and the grill is just custom made. Have a look at the videos and see what you think
@aramschannel thanks for the quick reply! I was thinking of trying to fit 35's on mine but honestly yours looks pretty good, and 33's are less work to fit. Have you swapped your diff gear ratios?
Haha you mean the engine that will run forever? I know it's gutless but it's one of the most reliable engines out there, super easy to work on and easy to find parts for
Address that frame rust when you have all those suspension parts off. Well worth the time.

This is a good call out. May as well take care of it while your already under there.
Just the lower ball joints. Only do the rest if they're loose.
Your right them lower balljoints will not make noise if they're ready to drop.
If they really wanna be safe out off-roading in a 3rd gen they should spend the 1000 bucks on Heim-joints
Also replace the engine, wheels, tires, electrics and chassis

Hi , does putting big tires doesn't hurt the A/T on the v6
thanks !
Mamma Mia!! Beautiful 4 Runner
Thanks!!
This 4Runner looks sick! And it only took you 5 mins to do eh ;)
Thanks bro!
Ya got it all done in just over 5 mins hahah
Enjoying the vlog style buddy and 4Runner is looking so good !!
Thank you bro!
i agree with everthing here ecept for one thing which is personal for me which is that i would fit narrower offroad tires instead of wide ones
I have had two 3rd generation 4Runners I absolutely refuse to drive anything else.❤😁👍
Hi looks amazing ! does putting big tires doesn't hurt the automatic transmission on the v6
thanks !
Beautiful transformation, awesome
Thanks!
Nice Clean Look! Friend just offered me a 2016 looking to do sum mods to it as well
Made the rear suspension look easy lol nice truck
Thanks haha
This one's not actually mine, was just doing some work for the owner.
Mine is the green one at the end of the video

What fender flare do you have on there
I believe they are factory but I don't know for sure, it's not my 4runner
What’s the rim brand where did you get them

did you already trimmed the fenders side? did it rub?
Yes I trimmed a bit but it still rubs slightly
Where can I locate the front in black like the one you styled in black that says Toyota?
For the front grill?
Search "honeycomb mesh" on ebay and you will find it
Looks badass!
Thank you!
Off the hook bro

Doing a similar build for the front 881s but with tundra 5 adjustable shock- how much lift did the runner get with your shocks and what perch do you have the shock on?
I think it was on the lowest setting and it's around 2" of lift or so
How much it cost to do , all that
Yes!!👍🏾
Where can the bumper be bkught at sir?
The bumper is from coastal offroad, it comes in pieces and you weld it together.
budget?
Might be a dumb question but why did you go with RC rear shocks and not the matching Bilstein shocks?
So all these parts were actually from my 4runner (the green one). When I originally lifted my 4runner, the bilstein rears were back ordered which is why I got the RC's.

It's an AVS hood deflector. Amazon should have it
