Goalkeeper training: How Goalkeepers Throw a Soccer Ball

- There isn't much needed to get a great throw as a goalkeeper. Just the right technique. Too many keepers try to throw the ball while bending their arms and using their elbows to "push" the ball which works in baseball not soccer/football.
The secret is to SLING the ball over your shoulder like Jai Alai or a trebuchet. You do not bend your arm when you throw the ball, you sling it over your shoulder and use the weight of your body and momentum built by the circular motion to lob the ball across the field.
Make sure to use your opposite hand as your aiming hand and counterweight wherever you point to the ball will end up going to!

Been waiting on this a long time. Especially since I had a bad game today. I played decent. But We just lost tactically and because of an own goal by my defender. sigh...watching your video made me happier. Got to win it next week

Hey alberto and other goalkeepers.
I have a question about training gloves and I want you guys opinion. Currently I have adidas predator zone pros in the negative cut size 7 but I really need a training glove so I want to hear what you guys think. I have watched many of the glove reviews and have a list of gloves I am thinking of but its too broad. I would prefer a training glove that is in the negative, roll finger, or hybrid between the two cuts with a durable latex (gigagrip) and is less than 60 US dollars or 37 british pounds. I practice 4 times a week with 1 game (I use my zone pro's for the game) on mostly turf but also on grass or sand. Thanks for the help.

Hey man I was just wondering where to store my gloves in the off season, I plan on using them again and they're Adidas Predator Pros. I live in Australia, Darwin there's going to be a lot of rain soon and I have them in the glove bag and they don't get a lot of sunlight.

Hey man, loving all the gk tips videos. I just have one question, whenever I go to dive for a shot which is up near the cross bar (middle or wide), i get into a good position but can never seem to get my fingertips to put it over. Any tips on how to get your hands or fingers up especially when its a wide and high shot :P

***** Well I don't typically use pads. West Coast just sent me some padded sliders which are awesome but I don't think they're selling them pubicly yet. Other than that I go pick up padded GK pants (NIKE or Adidas) or padded sliders (can be found in baseball/football sections of the sports store)
I used this for the last goal in the finals and the striker was 1v1 against the keeper but he hot the crossbar but rebound and accidentally hit his face and went in

Billi Hernandez Ya seems like you are putting a lot of force into your throw. Don't overdo it and make sure to stretch your arm/shoulder/hands a lot more before throwing

WSW ARSFC I'd recommend any pair with contact latex, it will have top notch grip and hold.

Hi Alberto. I wear prescription glasses and I when I play keeper I leave them on. I have had many close calls of the ball hitting my face and I'm always worried my glasses will break. What should I do? Should I wear safety goggles with a strap over them? Thanks
Contacts are a goalkeepers best friend. I made the switch about a year ago, best decision ever.
Prabhdeep Khaira I have pretty bad eyes too, there are three choices that I know of. Play with the glasses you have, get safety goggle glasses, or contacts. I personally went with contacts and have to deal with them. They aren't perfect but once you get used to them they're good.

+Aritra Mukherjee depends on how high you can jump. Keylor Navas more than makes up for his height. remember to stay low so you can get the most out of your spring like jump.
