Praise You in this Storm and East to West are amazing. I had East to West played at my Dad's funeral. He was bipolar and always was struggling with being abusive or loving. Casting Crowns is great.
Praise You in the Storm is an absolute favorite! I remember this coming on the radio when I was driving during a thunderstorm. I had to pull over. I sat there, listened, and felt such peace!! That was 11 years ago; yet, I remember like it was yesterday!
Praise You in This Storm has been my anthem since I found out I had brain cancer and lost some mobility from the tumor and surgery. It has been 16 years since my diagnosis and I’ve had 2 surgeries, radiation and chemo treatments in that time. There’s still a chance it will come back again but I know God’s in control!

I first heard Voice of Truth just after I found out I had a brain tumor while I was pregnant with my daughter. It was very encouraging to me.

@@maryannturton9830 We are both doing well. She will be 16 this summer although she had a rough start and is a few years behind her peers now. My routine brain scans show no new growth after the last brain surgery and treatment over 3 years ago! We’ve had ups and downs but God has been so good to our family and we are blessed with a wonderful family and supportive friends! Thank you for your prayers!

There’s a place where fear has to face the God you know.
Walking by faith and trusting Gods plan and timing. It can be scary, but oh so comforting. This song was on repeat during my moms cancer fight. God gave me all the strength I needed to keep strong for her. 🙌🏽

Voice of Truth is a classic, but Oh My Soul is perhaps my FAVE Casting Crowns song EVER because I've been through a LOT in recent years just like when Mark was dealing with his cancer. It lyrically & musically touched me deeply, so I have to go with OMS over VOT....
Voice of truth ministers positive affirmations - another musical antidepressant. I sing along will I listen to it every time. And it speaks truth, peace & encouragement to my soul.

In 1985 my son at 15 months old passed away, I lost all my faith I was raised with. My wife and I divorced couple years later remarried and then split up again. It wasn’t until 1999 when I met my wife I am married to and still married to I regained my faith in Jesus. I started attending a Methodist Church with her I grew up In the episcopal church and some of the members turned me on to third day and casting crowns. The two songs that helped bring my faith back was “Cry out to Jesus by third day “and “voice of truth by Casting Crowns “ Right now I have a daughter who is 28 a son who is nine and three grandchildren. God is great & has blessed me immensely. I will always wish that my boy was still with me but I know in my heart he’s in a better place. May God bless you and guide you in your path.

Woah…didn’t know you had covered Casting Crowns before. “Oh, My Soul” is really something else. It reminds me of one of my daughter-in-laws. God has given her and my youngest son three little autistic boys to raise. And, Leo, I know she must get so discouraged at times. My heart breaks for her every day. All I can do is lift her up in prayer to God that He might give her the strength, wisdom and grace to make it through.

The voice of truth was one of the first Christian songs I listened to, too. Back in my Atheist days I had a car that wouldn't pick up too many stations... There was one station that played some alternative rock that I liked and I didn't even realize it was a Christian station until 3 songs in... and then they would play softer artists like Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin and a few others.

To your question about speaking to our own soul I'd say it's because we are a spirit in a body but we have a soul (emotions+self+mind). The spirit is the one that is fed with the Word of God. And interesting: Jesus said He is the bread of life and living water. Also, in Psalms you see David commanding His soul to worship the Lord. So we can tell our emotions, mind and self to submit to a higher reality which is the spiritual, which can only be accesed by faith (it can't be seen, only believed).
