Base engine was a 307 two barrel producing 200 horsepower. The 327 two barrel was a option for 1969 Camaro(s). I owned a 69 with the 307 engine mated to a power glide transmission. These transmission had two gears, low and high. A lot of people liked the 2 speed because the power loss from the crankshaft to the drive wheels was less than the turbo hydromatic three speeds.

In the early 80's I bought a well used '68 Camaro 327 ci, 210 hp, 2-Sp powerglide column shift. All I can say is it didn't stay this way for very long - big performance upgrades. Still kicking myself for eventually selling it. Big mistake. Thanks for vid; still dreaming about first generation Camaros - the best Camaros in my opinion.

Love these old film strips. I have a VCR copy from Chevrolet sport dept. that talks about all the hi performance stuff. Z/28 Camaro Chevelle SS.They talk 396 cylinder heads NC-8 exhaust ect. Best one I seen yet
The best part is them comparing the mustang lol. They throw it under the bus.
I wish I had a email to discuss this with the CRG. I’ve had this tape o er 20 years now

The base V8 for 69 Camaro was the 307, not the 327.

Nope. At least 3 non-Z JL8 cars are known.

Why did the race 427 Corvette have 5 hp less than the street version?

GM was NOT Accurate with the ratings for Insurance Rates - the TRUE HP was more than 450 HP !
