The 69 and 70 fullsized chevies were very clean attractive cars. The exception being the awkward proportions of the custom coupe roofline. One unfortunate aspect of the 69 and 70 was the cheapening of the dashboard. This happened across all full and midsized GM cars in 69. Chromed metal was replaced with cheap flimsy plastic trim. It also created all kinds of electric glitches due to grounding issues related to the plastic bezels requiring ground straps and stripped plastic studs that loosened nuts. A shame because they were otherwise great models.

There were two out right lies that they told their salesmen in this film. 1, it claimed they were the only full sized brand that offered two distinctive 2 door hardtop roof styles, that wasn't True, Ford and Plymouth both offered two different 2 door hardtop styles on the Galaxie and Fury. Additionally, it claimed that the locking steering wheel and transmission shifter anti theft device was exclusive to Chevy. That too wasn't true, it was a Federal Standard that was promulgated for 1969......boy, oh boy, such fibs!

The only automatic on Chevy and Canadian Pontiac, should been a three speed.

Love these old film strips. I have a VCR copy from Chevrolet sport dept. that talks about all the hi performance stuff. Z/28 Camaro Chevelle SS.They talk 396 cylinder heads NC-8 exhaust ect. Best one I seen yet The best part is them comparing the mustang lol. They throw it under the bus. I wish I had a email to discuss this with the CRG. I’ve had this tape o er 20 years now

1968 was the last year for the Chevy II name. From 1969 toward the final year for the old X-body (1979), it was just called Nova.

Base engine was a 307 two barrel producing 200 horsepower. The 327 two barrel was a option for 1969 Camaro(s). I owned a 69 with the 307 engine mated to a power glide transmission. These transmission had two gears, low and high. A lot of people liked the 2 speed because the power loss from the crankshaft to the drive wheels was less than the turbo hydromatic three speeds.

1967 was the last year they actively marketed the Corvair. A shame, by 1966 they had pretty much perfected the car but GM management was ready to cancel it.

These are the displacements of the 1969 Nova engines when converted from cubic inches to liters: Fours and sixes 153 cubic inches = 2.5 liters 230 cubic inches = 3.8 liters 250 cubic inches = 4.1 liters V8s 307 cubic inches = 5.0 liters 350 cubic inches = 5.7 liters

In the early 80's I bought a well used '68 Camaro 327 ci, 210 hp, 2-Sp powerglide column shift. All I can say is it didn't stay this way for very long - big performance upgrades. Still kicking myself for eventually selling it. Big mistake. Thanks for vid; still dreaming about first generation Camaros - the best Camaros in my opinion.

1969 was the year when the Chevy II/Nova became simply the Nova. In the next few years, GM added the Pontiac Ventura, the Oldsmobile Omega and the Buick Apollo.
