I have a 3.0 in a 2020 Explorer police car. Bank 2 intake Cam lobe is wiped out causing a misfire at idle. It's one of the most complex engines I have ever wrenched on. If you are paying out of pocket for repairs, good luck to you. Book time for a timing job is 28 hours. Buy an extended Ford warranty and dump it when that runs out.
I have a 22 F150 with the 2.7 it only has 22000 miles on it. I love this engine. I'm not worried about it. If it's a bad one, Ford will replace it. I'll keep my truck and keep on driving it.
Possible issue if built between may and October 2021. Around 1% will have issues. That's just under 1000. Ford will verify the motor without charge and replace if necessary. Thus far of the engines thst have blown almost 100% have had this occur under 10 000 miles. Almost everyone over 10 000 miles has very little to worry about, but why not get the free inspection for peace of mind
This issue was for the 2021 2.7l assembled into Ford models between May and October 2021. In general the 2.7l is very reliable but if I recall. The 2016 I like because it did have both port and direct injection. Port injection will be used for cold starts and low loads whereas the direct injection system will take over once the engine has reached operating temperature
I have a 2011 f150 5.0 and a 2011 f250 6.2. I love my f150 but I'm thinking it's time to upgrade. I'm kinda eyeballing a ranger with the 2.7 ecoboost in it. I've always been a v8 guy tho. I love the coyote! I was looking at newer f150's and it's almost impossible to find a 5.0. Everything is a ecoboost.
Great point. Very few 5.0l on dealer lots but ordering g a 2025 would be a sure way to coyote it. The 2.7l v6 in the Ranger is fun. It is a little quiet but an air i take and exhaust will fix that for those that need more noise
I mention the dates per model at the end of the video. My live will get cut up I to little upsides and I cover more on the subject. Should be out within 2 days.
Excellent info - thank you. I passed this along to my friend who has a 2022 F150 with the 2.7 engine. Guessing his is safe.... I think he has about 60k on his already,....but it is worth checking out his build date.
It doesn't it affect it yet lol.. There is also warranty on powertrain if the engine fails after performing recall at dealerships.. They will probably come out with a TSB if enough engines fail
Woth the recall being a new engine the problem should not persist. It was a fabrication problem in the valve system between certain dates so new engine means the problem is resolved.
Got my 2nd F150 with the tiny 2.7 Ecoboost, 94,000 on the first truck and not a single problem, ran as good the day I traded as it did day 1. All the manufacturers need keep an eye on these parts suppliers making crap in China, I’m guessing.i thought when Toyota had engine problems it can absolutely happen to anyone.
Man, Ford is doing great. There still king on recall rates. World record recalls of all manufactures. Good job Ford. Oh here comes the brand loyals on Ford built tough 😂
Did you happen to pick up on how this will effect possibly hundreds or less and compare that how the Tundra hybrid has all the motors over 2 years that are bad? I know one guy who swapped 2 his differential and 1 his transmission and last year alone took on trade 2 RAMs with bent frames. Ford does do the most recalls but it doesnt mean the product is junk.
@@Johnnyscarcarereviews AND Ford stands behind their products! I’ve NEVER had an issue getting Ford to cover stuff…even when it was questionable. They almost always defer to the customer. Toyota on the other hand??? Not so much. They will look for ANY excuse to not cover warranty items.
@@cwqrpportable Lol. Not really. But it’s so sad with all these manufactures on the reduction of quality and testing. Pay twice the money and get less reliability. I’m no Toyota fan boy but really Johnny ? Ford has put aside nearly 4.8 billion dollars to fix all its recall issues goggle it it’s out there all these car manufacturers had major issues right now all of them
Agreed, but there is a big difference with under 1000 engines and possibly only a couple hundred vs every single engine or 102 000 Tundra hybrid engines over a 2 year period
Matthew is your 2.7l built within those recall dates? If so call another dealer as I don't see why Ford won't cover it. And/or call Ford customer support directly. Sometimes dealers say no eventhough Ford says yes. It's a rare problem but no etheless possible

Having owned (and still own) 6.0 liter diesels, I can tell you I have heard all of this before. GREAT VIDEO!
@@lvsqcsl omg I owned one and it was one of the lemons I think...my 6.0 threw injectors constantly....replaced it four times and I was done
If the intake valve falls & hits the piston it's going to be catastrophic, period.
100% true but so far those thst occurred have almost all had very low mileage. The free check up is precautionary in my opinion.

Hello there! Where can we find the manufacturing date?

The 2.3 and 2.7 are good reliable engines.

2021 and the dates per model are covered near the end of the video

Any news on 2025 bronco?
