      Unfortunately Jeff has always had crucial races robbed from him. Like in 2014 When he was a major contender for that Championship. Brad Keselowski taking it three wide and them two colliding ruined Jeffs chances there for that 5th title. I understand Keselowski was trying to get to the front off that restart. At the same time he blamed Jeff for drifting up and creating a hole. he has to realize sometime that Jeff was going to wash up a bit and dive the corner to keep the momentum up on the 48. But he just seemed to be plague by mishaps like that. especially in the later years of his career.

      Jeff would've had 7 if it wasn't for the damn Chase. 2004, he would've won over Johnson by 47 points. Kurt Busch, the guy who actually WAS crowned champion would've finished 4th in points, another 200 back. 2007, Jeff would've clinched the championship over Jimmie Johnson w/ 1-2 races to go by a whopping 300+ points. Jimmie had a great year in 2007, but the chase format at the time did him a favor. 2014, Jeff would've won the championship over Joey Logano. Kevin Harvick, the chase victor, would've finished 5th in the points. An additional sting: had NASCAR still used the old chase format, Jeff would've retired the 2015 Chase Champion. The Chase has really done Jeff in, and as a longtime fan of his, it stung how many times he came so close only to get robbed.

    I have always hated how Jimmy hangs Jeff out to dry, especially when it comes to restrictor plate racing. Dale Jr. is an excellent example of an unselfish racer. Glad he and JG are teammates!

    • @nascarfanatic2425
      @nascarfanatic2425 10 лет назад +5

      Well sometimes, Jr. leaves Jeff hung out, too. And their two incidents in 2012 didnt' make me very happy, but I'd rather Jr. win than JJ any day. JJ's a better driver, but Jr. gets a more positive reaction from the crowd. At least more people are happy when Jr. wins. So many people are unhappy when JJ wins. Jeff's the guy you either love him or hate him. He's my fav. lol

    @weaverracing96 Yes, Johnson has 5 consecutive championships. But you do have to consider that in all but 1 or 2 of them, he was not especially strong until the chase. This means that though he won the cup those years, he did not have the best overall season. This is one reason why the chase is a negative- the driver with the best overall season is not always the champion, as seen many times during the "Johnson Reign." That is not to say he is a bad driver, it's just something to think about

    saying the winner doesn't deserve the titles is almost like saying if a team barely makes the NFL playoffs then somehow goes on to beat an undefeated team in the superbowl, they don't deserve the title of champions. nascar wants a playoff style system, and over the 5 years jimmie won, his team figured out how to hammer down over those 10 races. all 5 of tony stewart's wins of 2011 came during the chase...he made the best out of the system that's in place and deserved his championship.

    06 Jimmie even with the old would have won with a 4 point lead
    07 it would be Jeff Gordon with a 353 ponits lead
    08 it would be Carl Edwards with a 16 ponits lead
    09 it still would be Jimmie with a 66 ponits lead on Jeff Gordon
    and 10 it would be Kevin Harvick with a 285 points lead
    Thats what the chase does in 07 08 and 10 Jimmie woudnt have won them with the old system but with the new this happend.

    Well...I've seen sometimes when Jeff completely dissed Johnson before 2010 -- a number of times actually. How come that isn't in here? People act like this is all Johnson's fault. Johnson's Sprint Cup record is extremely consistent thus far so if you're going to argue that he is a bad driver, well then that's quite pointless. Jimmie could very well go on to be one of the greatest NASCAR drivers of all time. He's definitely up there with Tony Stewart. Him and Tony are the top 21st cent. drivers.

    I don't think Jimmie Johnson would be NEAR what he is today, if it wasn't for Jeff Gordon. Jeff was the one who told Rick Hendrick, "Hire him! He'll win races." Then he got Chad Knaus, and that's how it's been since.

    @littleRafael27 Agreed. The chase has failed to crown the true champion in 4 of it's 6 years in existance. Yes, the chase makes an exciting championship battle, but it fails to crown the true champion. It's only crowned the real champ 3 times. That was Johnson's 06 and 09 titles, and Tony Stewart's 05 title. Kurt Busch was a fourth place driver in 04, and Jimmie Johnson was runner up in 07, 08, and '10.

  • @Kartkid024
    @Kartkid024 12 лет назад

    Just my opinion on it. You may not agree, but what ever. As far as Jimmie goes, he is a good driver, I'm a gordon fan so I tend to love his teammates as well. I don't think Johnson is as good as Gordon or guys like Earnhart, Petty, and so on, but I think he is getting there and could one day be there. So again, amoung the best in the new system, easy, among the old system, not quite yet. But mostly because he is still young.

  • @Kartkid024
    @Kartkid024 12 лет назад

    Starting the race is different. Its based off running 2 laps (different setups) for time. Not over a long term. Maybe its somewhat unfair, but its been like that for years, I'm just talking about all the new rules are making it harder on better drivers. And drivers are allowed to pick their lanes. Well the pole/1st place driver is anyway.

  • @nascargaming48

  • @retromario96
    @retromario96 12 лет назад

    You get the choice of which lane you want so obviously you'll pick the better one so the guy in 2nd may start beside you, but you have the upper hand because you have the better lane, hardly unfair. The lucky dog still is not unfair because the exact same thing could happen under the gentleman's agreement, whether it was by choice or not is irrelevant, because it could happen under either scenario and if they still raced back to the caution the same gentleman's agreement would still be in place.

    What's wrong is that the champion's consistency rarely matches his points position anymore. Brad Keselowski actually was the champion last year any which way you want to put it. He was the most consistent driver, he had a good chase, BK deserved to be champion, and he got it.

  • @retromario96
    @retromario96 12 лет назад

    Exactly so the driver in first gets the better line basically and has the upper hand. But still the one unfair thing about it is that the driver in second gets stuck on the unfavorable line so maybe he'd rather stay on the favorable line, restart 3rd and immediately get 2nd back.

    And besides, all of this was just 2010 stuff because Rick isn't going to let all that slide -- not when both these guys are supposed to be teammates. Jeff's win at Atlanta last year in 2011 showed that both these guys are very great drivers and so of course they're going to naturally have a little rivalry sometimes, but that race showed that both of them maturely put all that nonsense aside. Both Johnson and Jimmie are greats actually. It is not either/or here. 2010 is over. This is 2012.

    I remember that season. I hated Jimmie, started getting super cocky and shit. Did not like how he was doing Gordon. I will say though Jimmie has become less of an ass in recent years though.

    Because it's racing. Nobody is going to hand you the win and like I said it was no different than when they raced back to the caution, if they still did, Logano still would've won that race.

    Worked for Joey Logano. He was put down because of some bad luck, but thats part of the game. So how right is that for the 2nd place car who had a good car the whole day.

    I love listening to jimmie haters. I love gordon and jimmie, but grow up. What do you accomplish by hating.. and I think its chad that cheats. JJ is not a crybaby. Someone prove me wrong
    Yes I know the texas incident in the vid, but listen to gordons crew cheif. Gordon was real close to jimmie. Jimmie probably though gordon got him loose. NASCAR Said " have at it boys " so JJ and Gordon were havin at it. Nuff said. Stop hating.

    like the cars do on the short tracks across the country. Typically when they reach a cone they choose their lane, if someone wants the bottom, no problem they can have it and a guy might jump from 6th to 2nd but be on an unfavorable racing line, hey if they wanna risk it then let them.

    @DustyLions why don't you stick to drag racing then, it ways different then a 500/600 mile race. I'm not jealous of jimmie at all nor am I personally mad for what he's been doing, I just know that I hated it when Rusty and Ryan weren't getting along bc it really hurt the team all together...Everyone knows that the Chase is flawed, for someone to work so hard for points and have them ripped away makes no sense, if it weren't for the Chase Jimmie would not be a 4 time champion

    Please compare the number of wins that Johnson has had over Gordon in the past ten years. Also, if you could find/compare the number of years of experience that Gordon has on Jimmie in the Winston/Nextel/Sprint cup series, than it seems like those 60 wins mean a little more....
