I am NOT a Jimmie Johnson fan. I think he is a great driver with exceptional equipment. One of the main reasons he is a 5-time champ is because he always keeps his cool. Since when was winning a championship an easy thing to do? By your logic Dale Jarrett, Bobby Labonte, Matt Kenseth, Rusty Wallace, Bill Elliott, etc. are/were bad drivers because they only won 1 championship. That would also mean Carl Edwards, Mark Martin, Greg Biffle, Kevin Harvick, Jamie McMurray, Kasey Kahne, etc. are terrible drivers because they've never won a championship.
Individual sports needs dominant stars to increase marketplace...a-la Tiger Woods in golf or Roger Federer in tennis. NASCAR has decided that Jimmie Johnson is that guy and will bend the rules to see that he dominates. Though publicly NASCAR says "Boys have at it" just to keep its base interested, they want a dominant star to increase marketplace. I'm a Kurt Busch fan, that man will race you anyplace, anytime, & will carry his car across the finish line if necessary & is a better racer than JJ.
