You guys are a wealth of information. I love my Fox Back country kit on my 2019 Ram 3500 Laramie with 20 in. Method NV's & 37 in Toyo MT's! Thanks for the hook up!
i've got over 70000 mile on the 4.5 carli kit that you all install and have been happy since the day i left your place with it. And glad i went with the kings as well as to say man i wish I would of bought the kings to start with. you all sell a a great product and i am a happy customer. thanks again
I went with Fox 2.0 shocks and stabilizers on my 2005 Ram and I wish I hadn't. They only lasted 30,000 miles before the seals started failing. Sent them in to be rebuilt and they responded saying it's going to cost more because the shafts are pitted. I told them to just get them done as my truck is just sitting here useless but never again. Will go with King next time.
Looking for suspension setup for Fortuner. Needs in order of preference- 1. Comfort in all kinds of terrain 2. No thuds or sound in cabin 3. On road performance better than stock ones. Any suggestions?
The only thing I've noticed as a downside to Carli with Fox 2.0 is that the expansion joints on the freeway are much more annoying. Do you have experience with these vs King 2.5? Additional info - 4th Gen Ram 2500 crewcab 6' bed. Yes I've heeded the PSI small bump compliance recommendations.
Thank you for these! y'all have been a wealth of knowledge for me being on the east coast and dealing with shops that have never seen this type of suspension
Coils, track bar, Sway bar ,Fox reservoir, King damper , all by Thuren on my 2016 Cummins dually with 22.5 . 50 psi front 45 psi rear. The ride is killer on the highway. Stiff around town.
You didn't mention tire size or type, but my guess would be that you're running commercial tires on a 22.5 wheel set up. Those tires ride horribly and no suspension can ever make up for it sadly. You also have to remember that this suspension is designed to ride nice AND tow. It will never ride like a 1500 truck unless you completely give up your towing ability, so you'll always have some sacrifice. If you still aren't happy though, talk to Thuren about making some changes to your shock tuning!
@@CJCOffRoad Yes commercial tires...but Thuren components made my dually ride wayyyyy better then stock. Highway and towing is perfection. King shocks would probably be better....
I knew this was an older video when he said high end trucks running $80,000. Those prices are long gone. The King Ranch I want is going to cost me $108,000. That’s horrible. Thanks for the information, guys. You’ve earned my business.
Damn why have I been buying 80 psi tires for so many years?! I never fully air them up usually keep they around 65psi for the road but airing up after going offroad takes a while. Should I switch to D range tires instead of load E? I don’t tow with my trail rig either.
Just purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 2wd new body style and I plan to put on a 2.5 front leveling kit with 35x12.5 tires on 18x9 wheels! Does anyone have any knowledge as to if this would cause any rubbing? If so what can be done to combat that issue? Also, will I absolutely need to purchase new control arms? And why? (First time truck buyer & first time dealing with large wheels/tires and any type of leveling kit)
I have a 19 Ram 1500 4WD, and also have 35" tires on a 18x9 Rim. The tires will fit and only minor plastic trimming is required. New UCAs are mainly required if you lift beyond 3" in the front. New UCAs are a benefit for better angles if you can afford them, but not necessary at 2.5".
Isn't one made in China and other in USA? Its the valving that results in a nice ride vs poor in any shock per application? Maybe do comparison in standard valving between the 2 in OEM series (most will opt for this am gueesing).....obviously both can be altered but just right off shelf comparison....

I tow a 10k toy hauler to go kart tracks all over the PNW (lots of towing hill and mountain passes). Whats your general recommendation regarding lift&tire size for guys that tow like me?
Since you tow, you can either do a 35, or re-gear for 37s. As for suspension, a Carli level or a 4.5” system with the Carli LT bags would be perfect. We’ll address that topic in a future Q&A though because it’s a common situation!
CJC Off Road thanks for the reply! Appreciate the insights and looking forward to watching more content & possibly buying some goodies from you guys. 👍
great vid guys...I always learn something from your channel. My 20 7.3 will be here shortly. I have 37 12.5 20's on my 15 F350 Love the look...I have been wrestling around do I want 35's or 295 65 20's on this new truck or go 37's with a level lift. My question is with the 295 tire being a 35.1 tire x 11.6 wide vs the 37 which is really a 36.5 x12.5...with less mass wont it ride and handle better. Second Q..Any more info on lead time for the gas superduty components vs me having to use the diesel components.
If you're debating on tires, always go for the bigger size. I can count the number of customers who downsize on one hand, but almost everyone that goes for a smaller size up front comes back for bigger in the end. That truck will handle 37s just fine! As for lead time, expect about 4 months. This whole COVID-19 thing is going to throw a wrench in the supply chain though.

Both do but not sure what would be better for towing a 15k toy hauler that’s loaded dry it’s 10k but just want to know if it will be squirmy with the 13.5 when towing
Could you guys please answer this question, are there fox shocks that have a nitrogen filled canister like a dirtbike shock that you can adjust for soft or hardness of ride and rate of rebound?
All the fox shocks are nitrogen charged, but you can’t use that to adjust them. We promise that thanks to Carli’s custom tuning, you will have zero need for changing anything.
Absolutely not. They’re great trucks and comfortable daily drivers. The only catch is that the modern emissions trucks need some highway time with each drive cycle to burn off the soot in the DPF. If you only have a 5 minute city commute, a diesel truck isn’t the best choice.
Up to the customer! These trucks do quite well given how much torque they have. Turning and stopping a 37” tire is nothing for a truck designed to be towing around 20k.
I have a 06 dodge mega cab with 5.9 and I’m interested in the 6” lift but on the fence whether the long arm or radius arm. One question is what about traction bars in the back? Do you run those?
We never run traction bars since they defeat the articulation and ride quality improvement that the performance leaf springs give. We’ve got plenty of customers running high power on Carli or Thuren leaf springs without issue! As for the arms, the 6” carli systems require the Carli radius arms, so that makes the choice easy!

Your best bet is to swap out that lift for a 3” Carli or Thuren set up, and then change your wheels and tires so you have more sidewall. A 20” wheel with a 37” tire still has a great modern look, but will ride night and day better!

I see Carli has a 3.25 in Lift for the 3500 Air-Assist trucks. This kit is just too much for what I want to do with the truck. I would be extremely interested in just a leveling kit for my 2018 3500 Air-Assist SRW. Something along the lines of; Front Coils, Trackbar, Sway bar, Radius Arm drop brackets, tuned Fox 2.0's all around and then for the rear, I would be more than satisfied with just a block for the airbag and a block for the leaf pack.
That kit would work fine! We typically recommend either the lower height Thuren front coils for that, or the Thuren air adjust rods in the rear to get that level height. Give us a call and we’ll get you set up!
Awesome news! I just want that smoother ride. Only thing that is concerning to me is, I know the Kings in your kit are tuned for the air suspension, maybe fox 2.0s can be tuned for air as well?

Just use some grease every 4k miles rub that shit on exposed metals my uncle used to do that with his old cars and they have literally no rust on Frame at all only his panels are getting surface rust cuz needs paint but grease can be a good friend as long u don’t mind dust sticking to it lol
My comment was not meant to say that diesel additives don't have their place. However, if you can justify the cost of those, you can justify a good ride!
CJC Off Road Great answer makes sense. Then couldn’t they make the finish more durable ? I’ve been waiting for Fox 2.5 now after that answer may switch to King.
Why in the hell would king use steal bodies when other big brands use aluminum bodies which is better for heat anyway last thing I want to do with $4,000 shocks is watch them rust
Aluminum bodies can’t take the heat that steel bodies can. If you’re actually out using these trucks in the desert, steel bodies are the only way to get it done!
Realistically they're the same performance wise. Both are top level brands, so what matters is the tuning inside. An untuned shock isn't going to ride well at all, so having something like these Carli custom spec and tuned King shocks is what matters, and Carli simply chose to work with King since they were willing to do the custom tweaks to length, pistons and shim tuning that Carli needed.
Maintenance wouldn't be required if they'd just make the body aluminum or stainless. Companies can't make an entire truck out of aluminum or stainless, it's a stupid analogy. For what King shocks cost there is zero excuse for using cheap steal. Call it like it is.
Actually maintenance is the exact reason that King uses a steel body. An aluminum body doesn't hold up as well as a steel shock body to the heat and wear generated in thousands of miles of heavy off road use. King has the option to use any material they want, but they choose steel because of its strength and wear resistance in punishing off road conditions.
@@CJCOffRoad I'm certainly no expert on shocks but they do use aluminum in space shuttles, engine blocks, heads, wheels, etc etc. I can't help but feel it goes back to cost. Otherwise all else being equal stainless would be the obvious choice. Then it becomes a question of buying a name vs. Quality. I have no problem paying top price but I want the best built, not the most popular name. Irony is I was sold on your king set up before this video but now I'm leaning towards the fox. I clearly need to do more research. At least with carli you know they use nothing but the best and that's why they are worth the price.
It would be great to see your comparison of Thuren vs Carli kits. Thanks for great content!

BDS or Carli?? Jk.... Carli always great info guys.
Jose Muniz haha I have a feeling BDS may not like the answer for that one 😂
17s and more rubber. Friend of mine.
you guys are awesome!
Just use some grease every 4k miles rub that shit on exposed metals my uncle used to do that with his old cars and they have literally no rust on Frame at all only his panels are getting surface rust cuz needs paint but grease can be a good friend as long u don’t mind dust sticking to it lol
Don’t hate on the fuel additives! This ULSD sucks! Lol
But I do agree. My Carli suspension is the best thing I’ve ever done to my 2013 F250!
My comment was not meant to say that diesel additives don't have their place. However, if you can justify the cost of those, you can justify a good ride!
CJC Off Road I 100% agree with you on that!
phenominal info guys....thanks!
So why doesn’t King go to Aluminum body ? Common sense.
Because aluminum bodies aren’t as durable in high heat situations. King uses the bodies they use for a reason, it’s no accident.
Are you guys brothers?
Yep!
LMFAO!! You paid 80k for a truck why not spend on a good suspension.
Why not compare the King 2.5s to Fox 2.5s lmao.
@@CJCOffRoad decision made. Fox. Quality is in the details. accutuneoffroad.com/articles/fox-vs-king-2-0-coilover-shock-comparison/
