Yikes. Did they snag those three chicks? I know it's natural (and owls prob protected); I likely wouldn't do in real life but that one on the left looked like it was asking for a quick draw. Must be a problem with all your birds. That defensive/threat posturing is freaky, even from a small owl. Esp creepy to me; Epic near-coronary few years ago checking chicken coop behind friend's house at edge of woods at night. I SWORE I confronted a monster fugg'n troll somehow perched on fencepost above until enough brain engaged to see it was a Great Horned (25 INCHES... er, divide by 39.37?! THIS is why I ditched school ... 0.6 METER / 63 CENTIMETERS tall!). Prob didn't help the hack coop had a Plexi front. Thought the chickens would like a view x didn't realize that with the heat lamps, it was a perfect copy of a deli counter's display. Felt its wing wash as it blasted straight up, most un-troll-like. (Came around corner in same woods to see a Gyrfalcon, I think, blandly standing on ground 20 ft...er 39.x+= short distance away in huge spray of blood, tearing apart... I dunno; something big. Saw feathers as well as a Power Rangers flip-flop so not sure but it didn't even flinch.) Only had chance to see a barn owl once, glaring down in Glacier; extremely interesting creatures. Our Fish, Wildlife & Parks folks would appreciate this defense display. Sorry to make this a nature show and/or the equivalent of running into that yammerwhack (yes, a word) at the pub who avalanches for 15 minutes (um, divide by... oh.) on your single concise comment/observation/point but hey; got half an Earth physical buffer. Active farms / UK / youse insanity is always fascinating.
