Artillery doesn't ever get the volumes of text that infantry, armour and air power gets, but it has time and again proved the be the decisive component in battle. "A battery of field artillery is worth a thousand muskets. William Tecumseh Sherman"
I remember my first time playing memoirs 44. I remember playing as the Germans while my friends played the Allies during the Omaha landings. First turn I managed to snipe their tank divisions with artillery, crippling their right flank. It was hilarious seeing the abject shock and horror in their faces when they realized they had lost a full force of tanks before the battle truly started.
One rule that you forgot: since the scenarios are asymmetrical (and some are deliberately unbalanced for historical accuracy), it's recommended to play a scenario twice, with players swapping sides, and then using the total scores to determine the overall winner.
Something I was made painfully aware of after playing on boardgamearena, barely squeezing out a win on one side and then seeing my opponent crush me after the swap like that was supposed to be easy haha
It certainly is more approachable than something like Axis & Allies. Just got this one for Christmas 2020, can't wait to get someone to sit down and play it with me. Nice vid, thanks for the quick run down.
I just got this game, thanks for the video. It almost seems like it's too easy, like I'm missing something. Good to know about the inability to retreat results in death rule.
10:37 - The card says that tanks must stop, but can attack when moving into barbed wire. It is clear from the card that tanks can not keep moving after hitting barbed wire that turn.
Great video. I bought Memoir 44 with several expansions over a year ago and have yet to open them. I have been waiting for an opportunity to play with someone, but to no avail. I'm about to play solo. It looks like it would still be fun.
I have a huuuuuge question. You see, usually my brother and I fuss about terrain rules. Recently, we argued if it was possible for ANY unit inside a terrain hex to attack outside (for example, an infantry unit using a town as cover while actually attacking outside). It started off because of town rules, since tanks are limited by two when attacking from the INSIDE and OUT of the town, making my brother think that tanks are the only units who could attack inside the town. In summary, can all units ALONGSIDE tanks attack from within a town towards the outside? or are tanks the ONLY unit who can attack inside a town?
Infantry attack from inside towns with no penalty - unless they try to shoot into another town or forest or whatever (which gives -1 die). Tanks get a penalty for shooting inside of OR into forests and towns. (-2 dice) Artillery never get reductions.
When you play Memoir'44 with your girlfriends father and now just by looking on the boared which moves you have done to win on both sides. I love this game
Game looks amazing... I have a question? Tell me this nd tell me no more ..... how paintable are the minis ? I don't know if your into mini painting but it's a big issue for me.
\hello mister. you are talking bout a nonscenario at eight fiftyfifvve seconds. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\ because thats not possible to get in a real game in that position/ due to the range. capiche? vern nice video anyway. exciting game. cant wait to buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1! "D
I saved up money for chores to buy this game. And when I got it, I'd play it with my dad. Such a fun experience!

I’ve watched this video a couple of times to recap and that candle bit makes me laugh out loud every time!

finally found a buddy into m44 and starting playing through the scenarios. Very fun game, we both cheered on the last roll
I've never looked at buying a board game for a long time, but this looks both amazing, simple and unlike Risk and Monopoly, not to long!
I just got this game, thanks for the video. It almost seems like it's too easy, like I'm missing something. Good to know about the inability to retreat results in death rule.

Candles create ambiance, duh.
So why was the candle there in the first place? Just asking...
You are the most entertaining person that does boardgame reviews..keep up the good work !
Thanks to this, I'm really excited to get my copy in the mail! Can't wait to play it
So is there no way you can just Photoshop Praul in? Like a sort of Anakin's ghost. I miss his whimsy.
His stinking, stinking whimsy.

Hey there!
Just wondering, have you played the game yet? How did you like it?
Have you played it now?
Friends that don't play board games just haven't been sucked in yet. Keep pointing at them
Sucks that popular board games suck... the general population is traumatized by slow games of monopoly (and I don't blame them)
Can this game be played solo?
I just bought the game after watching this video. Thanks! Great content
I love cool dice too; I love when you did that ha
WHY is this candle even here ?
Bystander: Hold my beer while I take Stalingrad.... LMAO
So, you win based on how many dead soldiers you keep as trophies...?
Just like in real life!
you don't collect all the dead soldiers, you collect a token of the defeat of an entire unit.
So only the skulls of their officers suffice?
You need a full collection of their helmets to count. Miss one helmet from company B - it's like you never killed the rest of it.
Are we the baddies?
If you like Memoir '44 please try Commands & Colors Napoleonic's or Ancients. Same system just different historical periods.
Sooooo movement of units is ordered by command cards ?
Just bought the game can't wait to play
Has anyone figured out how to play this solitaire style?
Hey ya’ll. If you have the time, check out my SUSD Memoir 44 tribute video! ruclips.net/video/xJwb9NnSIwU/видео.html
I hear your voice and all I picture is Jez from Peep Show.
2 FEWER dice, not 2 less dice. - Stannis Baratheon.

this game is beautiful painted.
Why didn't you move the candle instead of continuing to awkwardly avoid hitting it?
He needed the flanking candle card. Sometimes, that's how the battle goes.
Reminds me a lot of panzer general online. Funny how the german artillery looks like pak guns.
If I get the base game, you think it'll be enough? I don't plan on getting every expansion.
There is plenty of game time in the base game, go ahead!
Where can I find that particular set you’re using
This game looks great, but I'm glad that I saw Battlelore 2ed first.
That game is like the next evolutional step of these rules.
Retreat because of Flags can be countered by support in the original version, has that changed in newer printings?
Hopefully they reprint it. I want the equipment pack and backpack.

Memoir 44 or Undaunted?
Thanks! Now I can play with my son!
Fantastic explanation! Very well done.
Excellent job!!!!! Just got it!!!!!!!

Still great
Oh Quinns. Many dice, one die. I'm never sure when you're joking though.
Quick question. If I only have one infantry unit do I still get to roll the same amount of dice as if I have all of them?
yes
Game looks amazing... I have a question? Tell me this nd tell me no more ..... how paintable are the minis ? I don't know if your into mini painting but it's a big issue for me.
Adam Whitehead cheers
Just got the "Eastern front" expansion. So when the Russians fight the Finnish, you use German units, right?
how does damage against artilerry work? both infantry and tank dice work against them?
Only the grenade works.
Years ago, I played a version of this that was set in the US Civil War.
Battle Cry.
Awesome game!
Don’t worry mate I like artillery to
Nobody mentioned that shuffling the deck well goes first and is pretty hard. After that you can setup, by first placing single unit per hex.
god this guy is fuckin amazing at explaining stuff
But can I play with 4 people with the base set?
You can with teams of 2
Who do tanks get more of a penalty when firing into forests?
Just how it is....
Its missing Royal Air Force Tempests ground Attack aircraft hehe
Memoir '44 online free on steam with good tutorial level 👍
So this is basically battle cry ww2 edition?
Isn't this command and colors but on ww2?
Best played with two main boxes and joining them up. oh look in he video you have.. two main boxes like I do !
"Sweet little Nazis" never heard that term before!

Played it today and loved it! Sword beach or something. This video doesn't do the game any justice.
Set speed to 1.5 - You are welcome
Um... Just played. Game was over too quickly. Defensive dice would slow it down. Too much fun to be over so soon.
Here's my quick review of M44
