Something tells me he probably didn't stay on the designated trail. Imagine being alive but stuck down in a rock crevice, injured and finally everyone else just goes home.
I couldn't imagine the feeling of despair and hopelessness if something like that happened.

Proper planning prevents piss poor performance, I know that sounds cold especially considering this poor man's story. However always be mentally prepared for anything, and be physically prepared for as much as humanly possible in the moment.

I found him years ago when he only had Navy SEAL stuff up, I think it was only 4 videos but they were really cool to see! I know a couple SEAL’s so I just wanted to hear him talk about it. Then all the sudden he posted a video of him telling the Snowboarding trip where he saw the black shadow person! I was extremely surprised to hear him tell that story after the military stuff. Unfortunately the SEAL community is very harsh on teammates that talk about their service! Some get a pass most don’t... they pretty much hammered him until he took those videos down. Witch in my opinion sucks! Because I love listening to anybody talk about their service. And he didn’t act all big and bad or like he was better than other people, he just talked about it. Oh well, I’m just making conversation🙏🏼 sounds like your a true fan so wanted to chat with ya. Hope you’re having a wonderful day!🤙

@@Baseballisbest67 search dale mesa verde colorado. It said his remains were found. He was a skeleton, but the police didnt mention foul play. But it is still weird nonetheless...

This one haunted me for a while. My husband was a wildland firefighter for the park at the time, and we were actually living in Mesa Verde. My husband helped with search and rescue efforts and accompanied the search dog teams. They found nothing. It really was like he had just vanished. One of the theories was that he had fled the country. It was especially scary for me because I hiked the Spruce Canyon trail just the day before which overlaps part of his route. I have followed the story for years, and they did recently find his remains in an off limits part of the park. It is believed he wandered off trail.
i wonder if that was actually him calling for help, and if so then why didn't they find him sooner

@@fabiangracia6344 I don't believe they ever made that public because they didn't want others going off trail, but I believe his remains were found recently by a hiker who also went off trail in a restricted part of the park.
It’s just hard to imagine when someone just vanished without a trace...truly disheartening

I miss the longer stories where I would get really into them and feel invested in the outcome. And you0 are such a great story teller thank you for telling us stories that we actually like scary, spooky mysterious dark unknown wonders. Mr. B could simply read a Chips Ahoy bag and make it absolutely enthralling. Not many have that gift.
If you’ve ever been to Mesa Verde, or any of the sites in that region it isn’t surprising that someone could just vanish. They are cliff dwellings.
Yea they closed the one in the picture down because of the rock but we got to see the other ones which was cool

@@darwinsom957 I spent 6 weeks in the region on an archaeology dig. I’ve only been to Mesa Verde once, but yeah, it’s breathtaking. But I don’t really find it that surprising that someone could simply disappear. Those were some pretty steep cliffs.

It's a special place. My mom was an Anthropologist and we took some of her ashes there (not many, ashes are pollutants)

He most likely fell between two rocks in a hidden crevice or something. Man that's gotta be a really horrible way to go. He probably heard the people who heard him but just couldn't locate him.

I waited so long for that 30 seconds. Lol I hate getting attached to a content creator that consistently produces until they suddenly just disappear. I totally understand that it's hard to continue finding things to care about and research, especially as the view count goes up and they start to over think it and stress over if it's a good enough story, if they have good work/life balance, etc. I think if Mr B just took a step back and put out ANY old story once a week again, he would see it's his story telling technique that is so popular, even if the story isn't super strange, dark or mysterious.

Um, he also recently added a 3rd child to the family, and he is kicking off a podcast, so ease up. We all love his stories, and have a weird mix of sadness and anxiety/anticipation when we have to wait a whole week for another one, but we are all adults, and will make it through without being rude.

So ive been binge watching your channel for almost two months
Alot of the stories you have told ive read or have heard of or seen in a documentary or a show on tv (reenactment of something that happened) and ide much rather you tell me the story because it reminds me of being a kid and hearing stories from a story teller in school or camp fire stories or sleep over stories etc and it peeks my imagination so much just listening to you tell these amazing stories (fact or fiction)

Don't wanna ruin it for Dale, but my neighbor looks just like this man and his name is Dale. He also told us he has no family. I WONDER.
I’ve been there & it really is bizarre for someone to get lost or disappear from the trail that leads from the gift shop area down to the ruins… It’s a very short walk & not at all challenging. When we went, it was on our way back from a ski trip in Colorado & I was having to wear a knee brace at the time. I had a little difficulty climbing down into one of the pits, but other than that, no problems at all.

Mitchell Dale Stehling, 51, had set out in June 2013 for a short hike to the park's Spruce Tree House, a 130-room archaeological site with eight ceremonial chambers, known as kivas. The man's wife, Denean Stehling, speculated that her “directionally challenged” husband, hiking without water or a map on a hot and sunny day, might have been misled by a sign pointing to the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum and inadvertently went off trail.
