Not simple. Women in the West are incentivized and protected in monogamy, and men are disincentivized and in general are opened up to legal vulnerabilities. It works out well enough for some men; some marry great women, others marry rich women and are not at risk. Those men are in the minority. The majority, maybe not a huge majority but a majority, are either unhappy and legally trapped, or divorced and financially ruined. If the legal playing field were made level, fewer men would be wary of monogamy and marriage.
Monogamy is natural for men because we don't want to spend our efforts raising someone else's child. When she said "monogamy is hard for men" she was really saying "women make monogamy hard for men".

Fast food is nutritious. Poisoning one's soul with hatred and resentment makes a woman far more attractive to the alpha male she wants. Hallmark movies, Soap operas, romance movies, Disney heroines- are all documentaries of how the world works. I don't understand why women are so angry; American women have a better life than most women on the planet. We have so many opportunities; we can do whatever we want, basically. I was reading the comments on another video about having children and being a stay-at-home mom. There were many comments by stay-at-home mothers describing their partnerships with their husbands, how they both contributed to the family and how happy they were. Those are fortunate people. On the other hand, no relationship is better than a bad relationship.

This the lost generation of women. I was taught that biologically men are forced to go out into the world and face all the dangers and that women are meant to be the gatekeepers at home. Most guys I've talked to see this whole poly thing the same way: Why would I make my life more complicated than necessary? I think the natural mode of most guys is serial monogamy (IMO the most ethical way of experiencing variety) until they find a woman worth settling with and banging out some kids. Re monogamy: I and many others think that non-monogamy, "ethical" or otherwise, is more difficult than monogamy. Polyamory was NOT the norm in human history, despite what the brunette in the lower right corner said. If it was, men would not have evolved the mate-guarding instinct. Infidelity and mate switching may have been prevalent to varying degrees, but that does not equate to being the norm. It may be easier to cheat or be polyamorous in terms of discipline, but the psychological toll makes it more difficult for MOST people. Its like not going to the gym and keeping fit may be easier, but the toll it takes on the psych for most psychologically healthy people who care about health and standards is worse.

@@AndreBentrup Wrong, monogamy means both sexual and emotional exclusivity. The Roman-imposed “monogamy” wasn’t a real monogamy as the Christian’s would introduce later. Wealthy men in the Roman world would still have concubines, slaves and mistresses, same with the wealthier practitioners of Judaism. Throughout history polygamy has been the domain of “high value men”. But Christianity demanded (real) sexual and emotional monogamy. Christian’s and Sikhs are the only major world religions (to my knowledge) that require strict monogamy, and only one of the two religions proselytize.

Not simple. Women in the West are incentivized and protected in monogamy, and men are disincentivized and in general are opened up to legal vulnerabilities. It works out well enough for some men; some marry great women, others marry rich women and are not at risk. Those men are in the minority. The majority, maybe not a huge majority but a majority, are either unhappy and legally trapped, or divorced and financially ruined. If the legal playing field were made level, fewer men would be wary of monogamy and marriage.

I don't understand why women are so angry; American women have a better life than most women on the planet. We have so many opportunities; we can do whatever we want, basically. I was reading the comments on another video about having children and being a stay-at-home mom. There were many comments by stay-at-home mothers describing their partnerships with their husbands, how they both contributed to the family and how happy they were. Those are fortunate people.

Re monogamy: I and many others think that non-monogamy, "ethical" or otherwise, is more difficult than monogamy. Polyamory was NOT the norm in human history, despite what the brunette in the lower right corner said. If it was, men would not have evolved the mate-guarding instinct. Infidelity and mate switching may have been prevalent to varying degrees, but that does not equate to being the norm. It may be easier to cheat or be polyamorous in terms of discipline, but the psychological toll makes it more difficult for MOST people. Its like not going to the gym and keeping fit may be easier, but the toll it takes on the psych for most psychologically healthy people who care about health and standards is worse.

@@AndreBentrup Wrong, monogamy means both sexual and emotional exclusivity. The Roman-imposed “monogamy” wasn’t a real monogamy as the Christian’s would introduce later.
Wealthy men in the Roman world would still have concubines, slaves and mistresses, same with the wealthier practitioners of Judaism. Throughout history polygamy has been the domain of “high value men”. But Christianity demanded (real) sexual and emotional monogamy.
Christian’s and Sikhs are the only major world religions (to my knowledge) that require strict monogamy, and only one of the two religions proselytize.
