I went into this thinking it was just going to be some "ok" Spider-man cartoon....
Holy *$&% was I so wrong. I loved this - it has a feel of an old school comic with the animation - it's like you're watching a comic instead of reading it. It was just so unique, and I couldn't stop laughing - it kept the comedy rolling while working right into the plot. [Play dumb!] "Who's Morales?" [Not THAT dumb!]
Love it - so simple and so amazing!
Thanks for sharing it with us!

To address some of your questions:
Yes, that was Stan Lee. He had already recorded several of his other cameos that came out after this with Avengers Endgame being his last appearance. But this hit harder because the movie released just a few weeks after he died and the context of his cameo was too coincidental. A lot of teary eyed individuals in the theater when he came on screen.
Kingpin has been a popular villain from the Spider-Man comics. His popularity surged with the Daredevil series on Netflix. He's a crime lord (literally Kingpin) that "owns" most of New York. He's brutal, crazy strong, and a beast of a man, though his design was exaggerated in this movie for artistic effect.
Frankenstein('s monster) looking guy is Tombstone. Another popular Spider-Man villain.
Ned in the MCU was based off of Miles' best friend Ganke from the comics. That's why he looks like him.
Miles has been a popular character since he debuted in the Ultimate Comics universe in 2011. He has been referenced in Spider-Man Homecoming (Aaron Davis, Miles uncle is Donald Glover's character in that movie. He says he has a nephew in the city when talking to Tom Holland in the parking garage). Miles has also been in other animated TV series and video games since. Most recently, he was a main character in PlayStation's major PS5 exclusive Spider-Man 2.
The end credits scene was based off the old Spider-Man cartoon from 1967. There is an episode where Spider-Man encounters an imposter and they both point at each other. This clip was turned into an internet meme. The movie just decided to have a little fun with that meme at the end credits.
Peter Porker is not a Looney Tunes character though he was inspired by them. He's a Marvel character through and through.
Bonus: Sony Animation had to invent multiple new technologies to animate this movie and it has been credited with revolutionizing the animation industry ever since.

One of the coolest things I discovered (credit: VFX Artists React) is that when Miles and Loser Spider-Man steal the computer from the lab, Loser Spider-Man is animated and presented at a higher framerate than Miles, which makes him look much more fluid and graceful while Miles is animated at a lower framerate and thus looks clunky and aloof in his movements.

Actually, Miles wasn't popular at all with comic readers. Brian Michael Bendis didn't really do the best job with differentiating him from Peter, making him pretty bland. It wasn't until the first Spiderverse film came out in 2018 that people started liking him & his popularity skyrocketed. The film writers gave him more charm & individuality, making Miles likable for audiences (though the comics still kinda struggle with that).

    • @aaronbeatdown
      @aaronbeatdown 6 месяцев назад +20

@@MarzOnline92 I don't think that's fair to say. Part of the initial issue with him was him debuting in the Ultimate universe after the death of Peter Parker. Lotta people stopped reading then, myself included. All of the Ultimate runs suffered, which was why it was abandoned and they folded things into the main continuity. He's been successful enough to sustain his own book for the most part, so people did like the character. There's no denying his popularity skyrocketed after this movie but, so did Iron Man and Captain America and Thor after their movies. To say he wasn't popular AT ALL with readers before isn't the truth.

My adhd can’t take it and I start to fidget, my mind wanders and gets frustrated, and I just check out. That, and I’ve never been a fan of alternate characters. Again, I know lots of people love em, and bless them for it. I’m not trying to crap on anyone else’s joy. But for me, the character needs to be the same. My brain can handle an actor of any color or race playing Spider Man, and I have zero issue with it. But he still better be playing “Peter Parker,” because that’s what my brain sees as Spider Man.

Hey guys, I'm glad you watched this one. "Spider-pig" is not a really a Looney Tunes character but based on a long-running Parody comic called "Peter Porker: The Spectacular Spider-Ham" from the 1980's. He is from a Marvel universe where everyone is an anthropomorphized animal.

There are so many Easter eggs and references in this movie that most people wouldn't get unless you're an avid comics fan. It's truly a labor of love.
One morbidly funny/dark humor reference in his intro clip is him eating a hot dog.
But he's a pig! That's cannibalism! Wrong for two reasons. He's really a spider (he got bitten by pig). And he lives in a world where humans are the animals/pets. So, he's actually eating a human hotdog. 😅

All of the Spider-people in this film (yes, even Spider-Ham) are actual Marvel comics characters. A lot of Miles' universe is based on the Ultimate Marvel line (especially the Green Goblin). The character you kept referring to as 'Frankenstein' is actually called Tombstone. And your boy Cotton Weary (Liv Schriber) voiced Kingpin. Wilson Fisk (The Kingpin) is one of the Marvel universe's biggest (pun intended) adversaries. He is basically the gangster who runs New York City behind the scenes. He was introduced in the MCU in the Netflix streaming series Daredevil (portrayed by Vincent D'onofrio) and has recently been re-introduced in some of the more recent Disney+ streaming series as the new ongoing 'street-level' antagonist. You will run into him again soon enough on your MCU journey.

yeah kingpin is interesting as there is no reason he can't be taken down. he's strong but nothing the avengers couldn't handle. the problem is if you take him out the resulting power vacuum would destroy new york at the very least

    • @PhilBagels
      @PhilBagels 6 месяцев назад +4

Kingpin's main power is his influence in the criminal underworld of New York. He's got corrupt cops and judges and politicians in his pocket. He's essentially the biggest mafia don.
Let's see... we saw versions of the Green Goblin, Prowler, Tombstone, Scorpion, Doctor Octopus, and I think there was even a shot of Hammerhead in there somewhere. All established Spiderman villains from the comics.
Note also that Spider-ham was a spider who was bitten by a radioactive pig.

He was the guy buying the weapons towards the first part of the movie and then again when Spiderman webs his hand to the trunk of his car in order to interrogate him. The actor was Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) and when the character is asked why he was helping Spiderman he said that he didn't want those weapons on the streets because he had a nephew out there.

    Miles Morales (Earth-1610)
Miles universe is actually based on the Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610) from the comics, created as a re-imagined and modernized versions of the Marvel superhero's from the main Prime Universe (Earth-616) with both large and small changes starting with Ultimate Spider-Man in the year 2000. Miles was then introduced in 2011 and would later take up the mantle of Spider-Man after the death of a 16 year old Peter Parker.
As this was a whole new universe it allowed Marvel to clearly rework many of it's characters. For example Norman became the Ultimate Goblin this massive Hulking monster that looks like the Hulk mixed with the a demon. This is where his design in this film comes from with the difference being his design is like a mix of both versions having a more classic Goblin look with face that looks like the classic Goblin mask, wears a purple hat etc. Combined with being a massive monster.
Peter dying is also pulled from the comics when the Green Goblin lead an attack on Aunt Mays house with a bunch of his villains came together to kill Peters friends and family. For the film they used Kingpin instead, differant setting and the biggest change being a 26 year old Peter dying instead of a young 16 year old. Ultimate Spider-Man also had brown curtains as his iconic haircut while for this film he has blonde hair. This Peter also has alot of nods to Toby's Spider-Man films.
Another difference with Miles universe from the comics is how everything seems off compared to our own reality. For example the NYPD is called the PDNY (Police Department of New York?) in Miles universe, there's parallel versions of real life adverts, movies, car brands and even events and people. Earth-1610 in the comics was made to be more grounded in our reality so everything for the most part was the same as our reality such as movies, brands, pop culture etc. Just with fictional Marvel stuff thrown in like buildings, companies, characters etc.
Also Miles origin in the comics had nothing to do with the Spider-Verse. Miles was bitten around a month before the death of Spider-Man. Miles then took up the mantle of Spider-Man, he didn't really know Peter. much before his death. Miles would meet the older Mainline Continuity Spider-Man from Earth-616 when he was transported to the Ultimate Universe. Miles would later take part in the Spider-Verse comics and then in 2015 the Ultimate Universe was destroyed with Miles being one of the two survivors where he now lives on Earth-616 the Mainline Continuity alongside the Spider-Man we've known since the 1960s.
    Peter B Parker (Earth-616)
Peter B Parker the Spider-Man who was sucked into Miles universe is from Earth-616. 616 from the comics is Marvel's Mainline Continuity so Peter B Parker (Actually Peter's full name) isthe closest Spider-Man to the mainline comics in this film beyond being Jewish this being the only real big change. I can't recall how old Peter is in the comics, Mid to Late 20s at best but this film pretty much just shows us a Spider-Man that's down on his luck. His villians would also be closer to what you both know from the films for example a Green Goblin in a suit and mask, and a Male Doc Ock. Gwen's universe as well seems to have a Male Doc Ock as well, can see her being attacked by him before being sucked into Miles universe.
Not a spoiler but Earth-616 Spider-Man was retconned to be from Earth-616B so that he doesn't overlap with the comics. Miles universe as well was retconned to be Earth-1610B so that this movie doesn't overlap with the Ultimate Universe from the comics. Miles origin in this film is pretty differant to his comic version so it wouldn't make since for these to be the same universe.

    • @LittleGalaxyBoy
      @LittleGalaxyBoy 6 месяцев назад

Forgot to mention but Otto does exist in the Ultimate Universe as the Doc Ock and this version was actually what inspired the Tobey Maguire version. For Spider-Verse we know that Peter was active as Spider-Man for 10 years so maybe there was an Otto Doc Ock. Or maybe Olivia is just Doc Ock in this universe and Otto never had his accident. Regardless this is very differant to the Ultimate Comics but really cool take on the character.

As for why they have so many different spideys, its just comics. Every single spider-man variant in this movie and all the main ones of the next movie too all come from the comics. The multiverse is not just a movie thing, it was originally a comics thing.
And also, all the little comic covers they showed everytime a new spidey showed up is the actual first comic each of these characters were introduced, so yeah, even more attention to detail that we appreciate and love to bits.
(Same goes for Gwen dying in Amazing Spider-Man. The directors didn't do it to mess with the fans they did it bcs that's just how it goes in the comics so they wanted to stay loyal to that.)

@the_real_blerd2357 I *firmly* believe that there wouldn't have been anywhere near as much hate for Miles if the comics had been good. Those two groups you mentioned existed of course; some people were going to miss Ultimate Peter (although the quality of his comics had been kind of slipping and Death of Spider-Man was the smartest thing they could have done at that point) but it wasn't like Miles was replacing Peter anywhere other than the Ultimate line, you still had several books dedicated *just* to 616 Peter as well as films, TV shows and video games with some version of Peter in them. And racists will always exist unfortunately. But on the whole I think these groups were a small part of the haters, most people hated Miles because his comics sucked.
The proof is in the pudding really. Fucking everyone loves the Spider-Verse movies and that version of Miles because the movies are good and he's well written. Everything that was wrong with the comics was fixed. Miles has a personality now instead of being like a younger version of Tobey's Peter, Aaron Davis isn't a humongous piece of shit trying to exploit his nephew's abilities for personal gain, Jefferson Morales isn't some over complicated undercover SHIELD agent and he even took his wife's family name (presumably because it's just weird for a black man to be named Jeffersob Davis), Rio Morales wasn't killed off for shock value, Peter B is a much better mentor than Jessica (who was criminally underused and subsequently misused after the Clone saga), Miles gets to design his suit instead of just being handed the red and black suit by Nick Fury, he doesn't have to struggle to find his footing in the fallout of Ultimates vs. Avengers, May and Gwen don't move back to the USA after leaving for a new life in France, I could go on for hours.

So, the story in Amazing Spider-Man 2, with Gwen dying happened in the comics - the deaths of Gwen and her dad are major events in Peter Parker's history in the comics, because they're people that he failed to save.
Spider-Gwen is specifically an alternate version of Gwen from another universe where she becomes the "Spider-Man" of her world, introduced in the "Spider-Verse" comics... and lots of other characters are in different roles, and the Peter Parker of her world died in a parallel to her death in the main comics.
Typically speaking, the spider that gives the hero their powers dies after the bite... but in the main comics, a girl named Cindy Moon was also bitten by the same spider that bit Peter Parker... and eventually became the hero known as Silk. She's not been adapted to other media as often.

    Some facts for you:
    1. The co-student of Miles actually is Ned, 'cause Ned comes from the Miles-Comics, they combined him for the Tom Holland Movies with the Peter Parker Storyline.
    2. The guy in Homecoming who got glued to his car is Uncle Aaron, his nephew he talked about is Miles. So Miles is already in the MCU.
    3. The grey goon is "Tombstone", a tough goon, always working for some bigger criminal.
    4. WIlson Fisk/The Kingpin is mostly an enemy of Daredevil and appeared in the Netflix-series around Daredevil.
Bonus fact: The "Frankenstein" you are thinking of isn't Frankenstein, it is Frankenstein's monster, a creature created by someone called Dr. Frankenstein. Since i am german i always am annoyed, that people calls the creature by the name of the doctor! 🤣

Also Kingpin was originally a Spider-man villain but Daredevil needed more stories to fill so in the 80's I believe they started having him be a villain in more of Daredevil's comics but Kingpin is always a Spider-man villain too, an OG Spider-man villain.

The co-student of miles in this movie and the comics isn’t Ned. His name is Ganke Lee and is the best friend of Miles. Also Ned in the original comics bullied Peter as well and looked completely different.

About the L00ny T00ns Spider-Man. Back in the Eighties, the folks at Marvel were publishing comics for little kids, or as they called the "Beginning Readers". They called this comics imprint Star Comics, they featured titles like Heathcliff, the Ewoks, the Muppets, and Thundercats. The most popular of all the Star Comics was called Peter Porker: the Spectacular Spider-Ham. This was a Loony Toons inspired parody of the regular Marvel Spider-Man comics. The Peter Porker comics were a best seller. After Marvel cancelled Star Comics due to poor sales, Marvel started publishing the Peter Porker comics, because they were still selling. They kept publishing for 2-3 years. The secret was that book was pretty funny, and even though it was written for ages 5-7, older comics fans thought it was funny enough to keep reading it.
And that's where you got the loony toons Spider-Man from.

Oh so glad you guys watched this one... it's such a fun movie. It's so so awesome. Even the sequel to this one doesn't disappoint... in some ways the sequel is even better (I know how not possible that sounds)
You asked about the little Looney Tunes guy - that's Spider-Ham and he has his own comic (not sure if it's still being published, but he definitely had his own series going in Marvel comics) - I don't think he's specifically a Looney Tunes character, though, maybe his creators were inspired by that universe?
Spider Gwen definitely has her own comic book series too... she's been around a little while now.
Also, Uncle Aaron has already shown up in Tom Holland's Spiderman - he was the guy trying to buy guns - he was portrayed by Donald Glover. I'm fairly fairly sure he's not The Prowler yet in MCU, though. I think he would have shown up by now if he was.
I really really hope that means we get Miles Morales in MCU as well at some stage. That would be totally cool. :)
But yeh super super stoked you saw this one, and yeh the sequel is so amazing too. :)

Marvel still doesn’t own the rights to Spider-Man. Tom Hollands Spider-Man only exists in the Marvel Universe because of a deal struck between Marvel Studios and Sony. Tom Holland is technically signed to Sony, not Marvel Studios.

It's so funny to see Mr. October come up with these theories and basically be on the right path and then completely forget what his own thought process was and it's also kind of hilarious but not really to see y'all get all of the information that y'all are given and then swiftly forget it like when Mr. October was wondering what was going on with Doc Ocks tentacles not realizing that it was Miles invisible or when he got his motivational speech from his dad and the electricity sparked in his eyes, that was just funny to me because every other reactor caught onto that fairly quickly amongst a whole bunch of other things that you guys forgot or that went over y'all's head. But I still love to watch reactions from your channel because when things dawn on you both last minute it's just so wholesome the reaction you both have and I also have no room to like be a hypocrite because I haven't touched a single comic book and I'm about to be 25 I don't know the stories behind any comic book character, but if a movie looks like it might be interesting then I will watch it and if I love it, I will watch people react to it because I love to find people who enjoy what I enjoy and it's like we're going down the rabbit hole together. Also, Mrs. October calling the web shooters, watches as opposed to web shooters just gets me every time along with Mr. October calling the tentacles claws because she's an octopus they(her & OG Doc Ock) have tentacles it's in their name Doc Ock short for Octavius yes but it's a play on the fact that they've got multiple tentacles like an octopus.

to add on just because all the live action movies are annoying: Peter Parker does not meet Gwen, MJ or even Harry until he's in college Peter had no friends in high school, the closest he had was friendly coworkers like Ned Leeds, but he was more of a romantic rival as they both wanted to date Betty Brant at the Daily Bugle

Miles has the coolest variant suits in the games, IMO.
