    There is an underground movement happening across the world that leaders like Dr Unwin is helping. People are fed up with the lack of knowledge from the medical profession and politicians regarding healthy behavioural change around diet, sleep, exercise and stress management. Low carb, high fat is central to all this. But try discussing this with your GP, good luck!!!

    This is clearly one of the best presentations I've seen of this material. The teaspoon chart is a fantastic way to alert people to the immense harm they unwittingly inflict on their bodies over the years by eating what appear to be otherwise ordinary and even "healthy" foods! The Kraft insulin survey is another such eye-opener that may help more skeptical grasp the point that this chart so eloquently makes.

I am not interested in drinking my food. Dread to think what unnatural chemicals are in the shakes. I want a proper humane diet eating real food.

  • @dannyc9784
    @dannyc9784 Год назад +18

    The Carnivore diet cures all. Sounds very restrictive, but when you try a 30 day trial, you realize it's actually freeing, and never want to go back to carb addiction and sickness. Started as a 30 day challenge and now on year 3. Reversed my obesity, diabetes, arthritis, brain fog, High blood pressure and much more. Went from lots of pharmaceuticals to nothing.

    • @joanneclark8256
      @joanneclark8256 3 месяца назад

      But if you ho back yo anything but carivore you get bad responses?

    • @dannyc9784
      @dannyc9784 3 месяца назад

      @@joanneclark8256 I understand how many people cannot understand this mindset, I was the same 4+ years ago. let me try to explain. If your an alcoholic should you go back to drinking a little? if your a cocaine or heroine addict? Once you feel amazing why would you go back to eating poison? All carbs are poison to human physiology to varying degrees. And to answer your question, yes the few times I have eaten something I shouldn't, my body screams at me to not do so again. This is not a curse, it is a blessing, that your body is now so sensitive that it tells you what is good or bad for you. You need to get out of the mindset that food is entertainment It is not, it is nourishment. And Btw I doubt there are too many people on the planet, that enjoy their food more than me, when I eat my Omad of Beef, Lamb, Fish, or eggs. Again it's not a restrictive diet, it's total freedom from sugar/carb addiction, from the medical establishment from the food industry, from pain, from depression from anxiety, from getting sick, from being a slave to the toilet etc. etc. I guess you have to ask yourself what freedom is for you? IE I haven't been to the Dr in 4+ years reversed T2D, HBP or have any of the issues mentioned previously... That's freedom!

    For those thrown by the constant use of the word "sugar," know that what we call table sugar is only one type of "sugar." Any molecule that ends in the letters -ose is, unfortunately in our language, called a "sugar." When Dr. Unwin says that biscuits cause a rise in blood sugar, he's not referring to the sucrose in them, but the starch itself.

      Perhaps clearer to have written "he's not referring *only* to the sucrose in them, but *also* the starch itself". True, though, that in many baked products including 'sweet' ones, the majority of the carbohydrate in them is in the form of starch. A good point at which we should all remember that potatoes, toast, the batter on the fish in 'fish and chips', too, are starchy.😊🤗

Even the blood glucose levels have improved and inflammation has improved dramatically… Cooking dangers are often ignored or overlooked, yet they do elevate blood glucose.

      I would add one thing that some people might not aware of is chronic stress; i have gestational diabetes in 2004 I have try to change my diet from used to like rice then cut it of completely, and eating very carbs diet It's helped me to stay out of medication for 15years until excessive stress has added up and I being forced to eat carbs again since my mother was afraid that I'll be dying from not eating because I am a skinny type 2. So to the point my pancreas health is only 500 after I requested a C peptide done. But I noticed that even though I get back to low carbs or even not eating fruits my sugar is remaining high of average 11-12 i try to cut of the medication on low stress day sugar can drop to 6.4 but if a stressful day it's rise to sky high even though meditation wouldn't work to bring my sugar down at all.

    Can anybody - any doctor - just explain WHAT TO DO about high blood glucose levels, insulin resistance, or fatty liver? I didn’t come to this video (or any other like it) to master a course in human physiology. If fasting is required, then recommend a specific fasting regimen. If additional fiber intake would be helpful, tell me what brand of fiber and how much to take and when (e.g., times of day). If my automobile needs a new timing belt, I want the mechanic to fix the issue, or tell me what part to buy so that I can fix the issue. I don’t want a lecture on the workings of an internal combustion engine.

    Some Drs in the NHS will not give type 2 diabetics testing equipment. They say they want us to eat properly having an HBA1C every 6 months. I have never seen a doctor for my diabetes. I have had to buy my own machine. I'm on pension credit, so I'm limited to how much I can use it.. I have no help, no support or anyone to talk about my tests, diet. I see the diabetic nurse every 6 months, She looks at my bloods says HBA1C @ 45-46 says good I can't tell you off. I can't get the A1C any lower.
    I'm dealing with my diabetes on my own. I put myself on the original diabetic diet of the 1960s which was a low carb diet. I wasn't even given a diabetic diet sheet. Not that I would have used it. I am using RUclips to gather any information I can.
    What I do lack are recipes. If recipes are mentioned they wants loads of money.

    Great to hear the good doctor, as always. However, several burning questions still remain: Will they soon invent non-invasive CGMs for us squeamish needle-phobes? Will these (in the UK) be made available free on the NHS for pre-diabetics and Type-2 diabetics? When will there be easily administered saliva and/or urine tests to assess sugar levels - instead of horrible blood tests we phobics can't face having?
    And regarding supermarket foods: When will the retailers catch up and make - instead of normal supermarket bread - a nice rich dense dark rye sourdough loaf (to give just one example) made with good quality olive oil that we carb addicts (who have largely gone low carb but still need a little of our favourite starches) can eat occasionally? Decades ago, I used to be able to easily find black pumpernickel in the shops (for a reasonable price) - but now I don't see it anywhere near me!!! Such substitutes are necessary for some of us. Anyhow...food for thought! lol.
    Many thanks once again for the helpful and interesting video. :-)

    My mom is not statistically significant or peer reviewed but her experience has had real significance among her circle of friends and family.
    2 1/2 years ago, my 80 year old mother finally had a follow up appointment with her physician which was delayed for months because her doctor has been in charge of treating Covid patients in the hospital and in nursing homes and was not able to meet with her. She had a full blood panel taken for this visit and her doctor was astounded at the progress she had made during the last year. She is now no longer diabetic and she was instructed to stop taking insulin after having been on it for 12 years. Her doctor also praised her kidney function which has never looked better. Also, she couldn't believe that her total cholesterol was only 139, with LDL of 67, HDL of 60, and triglycerides of 82 which is a big improvement for her. According to the Framingham Heart Study, these numbers mean that she is virtually "heart attack proof" as many plant based doctors have noted. Her physician (Johns Hopkins med school grad) mentioned that she is reconsidering the diet for her family based on this experience. She also asked my mom to share her experience with our community after the pandemic. All of these results are exactly what I had hoped would occur. Below is a typical day of eating for her. I plugged her bloodwork test values into the Levine Biological Age Calculator and she has aged minus 15 years during the last 3 years. I joke with her that she may be required to give up her Social Security benefits if she keeps going like that. My understanding is that low carb diets are a workaround that do not address the root cause of diabetes which is excess intramyocellular lipids (also fatty liver/pancreas) and the resulting insulin resistance. Excess saturated fats and refined sugar/flour are the most common cause of this metabolic system failure. Unless a person can eat whole food complex carbs again without a prolonged spiking of their blood sugar, type 2 diabetes has not been reversed.
    ps - She was able to get off of all blood pressure medications after 3 years, tapering off so as not to over-medicate which is dangerous because it can deprive tissues of necessary oxygen and nutrients.
    Here is the menu for a typical day:
    Breakfast: Organic steel cut oats with wild blueberries, raspberries, 1/2 banana, tablespoon of ground flax and ground chia seeds, tablespoon of hemp seeds, organic soy milk, cinnamon.
    Lunch: Green smoothie heavy on the low-oxalate greens (frozen kale or collard greens, frozen pineapple, banana, orange, lemon wedge with rind, organic soy milk, avocado sliver, amla powder, dulse flakes, apple cider vinegar, blackstrap molasses, nutritional yeast, small scoop of hemp protein powder, fresh ginger, medjool date, fresh kale) with a small handful of almonds and walnuts - or - some soup and salad.
    Before dinner snack: one apple.
    Dinner: Variety of simple meals including spaghetti, chili, vegetable soup with beans, lintel miso soup with organic tofu cubes/onions/mushrooms/kale, split pea soup with onions/mushrooms/carrots/celery/potato, roasted vegetables (squash/carrots/potatoes), rice and beans bowl with onions/mushrooms/kale/peppers/salsa, organic tofu scramble with onions/mushrooms/peppers/kale/turmeric/nutritional yeast, broccoli, asparagus, etc.
    Dessert: frozen banana whip with papaya or strawberries topped some days with a couple of macadamia nuts or a Brazil nut.
    Make sure to include G-Bombs every day for optimal immune system (i.e. - greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries, seeds).
    Avoid most processed foods. Include tofu perhaps twice a week but not more. Stop eating after an early dinner except for a few pistachios before bedtime.

      @@t.corazon6350 Her menu addresses the root cause of type 2 diabetes rather than the symptoms. The menu is inspired by Nutritarian principles but the specific meals are adapted to my mom's food preferences so that it could more easily become a sustainable lifestyle for her. Seems to be working well based on her bloodwork tests. I went to a community education program at the local hospital for diabetics and the food guide that was being passed out was written by one of the leading manufacturers of insulin. If these patients followed the advice given, it would virtually guarantee that they would be insulin customers for the rest of their lives.

      I don’t view insulin resistance from the same point as you do. Ben Bikman does a better job of explaining why that point of view really isn’t an explanation of insulin resistant. Glucose stimulates insulin production. If your insulin level is low, you aren’t, in effect insulin resistant. I’m all for you and your mom eating the way she does if it makes her happy. I think people can be healthy eating low carb or high carb/low fat. You just can’t do both. That’s a SAD diet (I know I’m being redundant. I lost more than 80 lbs going Low Carb. Im too much of carb addict to go the way of your mom. Even though she, too, is avoiding unhealthy carbs, it would be a slippery slope for me.

    • @greensmoothieparty
      @greensmoothieparty Год назад +6

      @@bonnieo8 My mother is not eating "low fat" because she intentionally eats slow fats with most meals for more optimal nutrient absorption. Slow fats are whole plant food fats with fiber such as nuts, seeds and avocados. Slow carbs are whole plant food carbs such as fruits and vegetables. Her Slow Carb Slow Fat diet style gives her steady energy without overwhelming her metabolic systems and pathways. A couple of months ago, I asked her doctor to perform an hs-CRP blood test which measures inflammation and her result was 0.4mg/L which is typical for a teenager. She also now has an eGFR of 85 (kidney function) which is typical for a 40 year old female after she previously had been diagnosed with stage 3 chronic kidney disease. She has now aged minus 18 years according to the Levine Biological Age Calculator! I would never want my mom to go low carb because research indicates that it is associated with increased all cause mortality. You are correct that the SAD diet is even worse though because it is mostly Fast Carbs (flours/sugars) and Fast Fats (oils) from processed foods that trigger overeating due to their effect on the brain's hunger signaling. Sadly, we have created an unnatural food environment that is deadly for many people.

    Why don't the doctors give the diabetics a chart set out in layman's terms of do s and don't about what you can and can't eat and drink healthily to Elay you from developing diabetis instead of prescribing drugs or are they bound by big business notably the drug companies what's it to be health or profit

      I recommend reading a really interesting book, which is perfect for the layman, titled “Glucose Revolution” by a French lady named Jessie Inchauspe. It explains everything about carbohydrates and how the body processes sugars and the action of insulin. I have no in-depth knowledge of the subject, but the author is very talented at explaining complex processes in simply terms. She has also produced various YT videos about the subject. I hope this helpful. All the best.

    I am surprised that the medical community is so slow to study and adopt different strategies for care. COVID is a good example. My dad went on the Atkins diet in 1972 - a Low carb diet - after the popular book was released. Many in medical and food industry blasted the book. 50 years later it is back and both communities are attacking it again.

Arthritis gone, ibs gone, gastric reflux gone, joint pain gone, prostate issues gone, depression gone, anxiety gone, sleep apnoea gone, mental health is fabulous. I have eliminated all sugar, carbs, seed oils, processed foods and plants. I have never been healthier. Insulin resistance is also the primary driver of cardiovascular disease, not cholesterol. Having low cholesterol levels is the primary driver of most mental health issues including depression, anxiety, alzheimers, parkinsons and many others.

      The healthiest cultures on the planet, the ones with zero cancer, zero cardiovascular disease, zero diabetes, zero alzheimers, parkinsons etc are the ones who eat a diet completely, exclusively, of high saturated fatty meat. This is easily checked. I know it seems crazy, but it absolutely works. In the west we also ,a century ago, had virtually zero cases of those diseases, until we changed our diets to high sugar, high carbohydrates and seed oils. Now we have the poorest health on the planet, despite our technology and enormous investment in medical research and pharmaceutical products. I have transformed my life, physical and mental, in a matter of 4mths eating zero sugar, zero carbs, zero plants.
      Who knew.

    The nhs doctors in England are totally useless & all they want to do is prescribe medication & no other help & that's because NHS doctors in local surgerys are paid by pharmaceutical companies to only prescribe medication.
    The real threat to people with type 2 diabetes is the so called health professionals in doctors surgerys & now i no longer have any faith in nhs doctors surgerys.
    On my third doctor's now & i have learnt more from doctor's on RUclips than the awful NHS doctors surgerys.
    I have heard on RUclips that doctors actively want people to die rather than help them.
