I remember watching that Xbox 360 launch special on MTV. I was so hyped to get my Xbox and play next gen games. Loved the old blade system to categorize everything. I missed it when it was changed.
Yeah MS went a little Multimedia crazy with the Xbox 360. It originally supported Windows Media Center where you could store movies and music on your PC then stream them. It even supported TV Tuner Cards where you plug one into your PC then you could stream live TV content, it also had a built in DVR. I used a ton of those features during the 360 era. Along with all of that were the crazy number of apps.
I played the hell out of the Sleeping Dogs demo back on PS3 before it came out. The demo consisted of two missions. The first part of the demo was the mission where you had to chase down Ming in the marketplace. The second part was the middle portion of the mission where you raided Dogeyes' sweatshop and kidnapped Siu Wah.

My childhood console, the amount of time I spent playing on it was such a sweet memory, it’s so sad to see it end this year, thanks for the memories Xbox 360
Starting around February, I would buy every Xbox Live Arcade game I was interested in and every piece of DLC for every game that I own that interested me. It took me far longer than it had any right to, but I finally finished up last month. I thankfully no longer feel like I'm missing out on anything, thank god. 😅
i believe the reason mirror's edge is top downloaded is because it was free through games with gold during the peak of the service's popularity. i knew people who only ever played CoD that checked it out and loved it when it was free.
This is definitely the reason. It was peak GwG before the shovelware. It was also early enough that a lot of people hadn't upgraded to the One. Also Mirrors Edge was a well known AAA game, but it wasn't popular enough that everyone that did want to purchase it had already done so. So there were a lot of people getting it just to try it, whereas other GwG titles were popular enough that people had already bought them physically (so not appearing on this store). Games like Halo, Gears, Fable, Assassins Creed were hugely popular, but people had played already so likely skipped the GwG version, whereas Mirrors Edge was interesting but not popular, resulting in massive downloads.
I still use the X360 for some games. Old favourites and some STILL on the backlog. What a generation. Great memories. I remember looking forward to play demo discs on Xbox/ Xbox 360 from magazines. Renting physical games. Buying MLG halo tournament clips cuz RUclips wasn’t instantly in your hand. Map packs. Xbox music. Burning cds to HDD and listening through in game radio. Split screen. Maybe best generation? Games didn’t take forever to make. Actual start middle end experiences. Like many I experienced the RROD three times but we loved it too much to go without it.
This was the last console generation, that I REALLY enjoyed. Back then, even AAA still dared to try unique and crazy stuff. I truly miss that era in gaming...
I'm so glad I started collecting 360 and PS3 games seriously a few years back before the shut downs were announced. A lot of the games I picked up for 5-10 bucks have already jumped in price. My Armored Core 4 copy has a $4.95 gamestop sticker on it that will remain there for posterity forever.
There are 100+ non backwards compatible games that are on a permanent discount until the store closure on July 29th. More games will be announced for discount on July 16th.
The obscene amount and crazy variety of games (and underrated gems) I physically own for the 360 is a reflection of the joy and fun this console brought me. And still does and still will whenever I feel like dusting it off. I have two functional ones and one I've been delaying the repairs of for years. My fave platform out of all consoles, hands down. Only PC was able to rival its range for me, but I still preferred playing on the X360. There's still a gazillion games I haven't purchased/played on it and this video alone makes me want to go buy some. Seeing Sleeping Dogs, Fable and Life Is Strange (3 of my all time faves) on here gives me a weird sense of comfort 🥰 Many of my most loved games/franchises in your scrolling! AC, Ghost Recon, L.A. Noire, Alan Wake, Raving Rabbids, Hitman, Fable, Tomb Raider, Rock Band (still have my drumkit haha), Silent Hill, Splinter Cell, THPS, Watchdogs, Xcom... I recall playing them on the Xbox 360 and being amazed by the upscaled visuals. I rebought many of my favorite games for the original Xbox just so I could replay them with the upscaled graphics. I also bought so many DLC and Arcade games from the Xbox store. I remember buying and having great memories playing Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Feeding Frenzy, Geometry Wars, Sonic the Hedgehog Episodes 1 and 2, Pac-Man, and Vigilante 8 Arcade (my father's favorite). Everyone went after Sony for wanting to shutdown the PSP, PS Vitta and PS3 store, until there was several dozen video made and lots of people complained, so Sony changed their mind and only shutdown the PSP and PS Vitta store, i wonder will people do the same thing for Xbox 360 store or just ignore it or even make excuses to justify why the Xbox 360 store needs to shutdown
Xbox doesn't care, most anti consumer brand in existence, they shutdown the halo servers at that point it's over.
Sony library is superior in every way compared to Xbox
I see why Sony got backlash for it
I wish more people talked about the indie games service. Where pretty much anyone could list a game for a couple of quid on the 360 store. All those games were delisted years back and I have so much nostalgia for so many of them
We need people to rage so they keep it open like Sony did with theirs
Everyone would have to cancel gamepass and nonone go on xbox series or one for them to listen
If you take one last look now you’re missing the final part of the sale in July before the shutdown 😂
When in July will that be?
@@OfficerFredPowellJuly 29, apparently.
@@Climbingkitten The final sale already happened and it was a huge let down. The most recent one past it was Dishwasher devs discounted their own game
Hated the final dash for Xbox 360 , 2011-13 360 era was garbage compared to 2006-10. That was the golden era
kinect started the dark age of xbox
There's also a huge Sale going on. Picked up some of the Resident Evil titles for 2 each.
I think the final sale will be in Mid July. So buy them while you can. Sad there's no Sale on the DLC's...
Because some of the season passes cost 30, which should be 10 at best.
I love how there is a Smosh app
I played the hell out of the Sleeping Dogs demo back on PS3 before it came out. The demo consisted of two missions. The first part of the demo was the mission where you had to chase down Ming in the marketplace. The second part was the middle portion of the mission where you raided Dogeyes' sweatshop and kidnapped Siu Wah.
Resonance Of Fate is great, but there's an HD version if you wanted an updated version.
I remember getting all of Sam Fishers outfit items for my Avatar when playing Conviction...THE MEMORIES!!!
I'm confused by this does this mean you can't buy the 360 games anymore on your series/one consoles?
Anything that isn't backwards compatible is technically gone in July when the store shuts down. Stuff that works on the Xbox One/Series should still be available.
u can just wont be able to buy anything from the 360 store specifically.
@@SpawnWave I wonder how many RUclipsr's will make a video about this
I know u can only buy skate 2 on 360 but it is backwards compatible. Idk what other games are like that.
@@ghost656metal8ah... the sarcasm is strong with this one 😂
Love/hate the market place, because that’s where full digital downloads started, which have absolutely ruined the game industry.
The internet was the thing that unlocked gaming to the masses, but simultaneously was the poison pill that slowly killed the soul of gaming
PSP GO was the first digital only
@@loon1994Lmao, wtf does “soul of gaming even f*ckin mean?
Red Dead 1 and 2, Elden Ring, Seikiro, TLOU 1 and 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, Cyberpunk, Portal 2, Mass Effect 2, God of War 2018, TW3, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Bioshock trilogy, Bloodborne, Skyrim, TLOU, Fallout 3, Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3, Far Cry 3, GTA 4, COD MW2, the Gears of War games, Batman Arkham trilogy…
ALL examples of games (newer and older) that released when digital storefronts are established norms within gaming. Hasn’t ruined the essence of gaming at all.
Still quality games coming out with each and every year.
Question, if I purchase games in the 360 store, can I play them on my series consoles even if the game is not backwards compatible? Or is it strictly stuck in the Xbox 360 consoles?
If it’s not backwards compatible then yes it’s exclusive to the 360
My childhood console, the amount of time I spent playing on it was such a sweet memory, it’s so sad to see it end this year, thanks for the memories Xbox 360
Final fantasy 13, still hold up good today.
Starting around February, I would buy every Xbox Live Arcade game I was interested in and every piece of DLC for every game that I own that interested me. It took me far longer than it had any right to, but I finally finished up last month. I thankfully no longer feel like I'm missing out on anything, thank god. 😅
Is it just for the 360 or can you still get 360 games on a series X?
Just for the 360. All 360 games backwards compatible and purchaseable on the One/SX will remain the same.
I love seeing this. It is so shocking to see how hard Xbox fumbled the bag after putting out this amazing gaming product.
i believe the reason mirror's edge is top downloaded is because it was free through games with gold during the peak of the service's popularity. i knew people who only ever played CoD that checked it out and loved it when it was free.
0:15 when it cut from elijah wood to spawn wave i was actually shocked at how much frodo had let himself go.
Thanks for this. It will be one very precious archive in a few days
This is why physical gaming is so important
I'm so glad I started collecting 360 and PS3 games seriously a few years back before the shut downs were announced. A lot of the games I picked up for 5-10 bucks have already jumped in price. My Armored Core 4 copy has a $4.95 gamestop sticker on it that will remain there for posterity forever.
I was a resident firefighter during the 360 era. It got me through a lot of long nights. Most fun/ best memories I have ever made gaming
There are 100+ non backwards compatible games that are on a permanent discount until the store closure on July 29th. More games will be announced for discount on July 16th.
THIS PART
The obscene amount and crazy variety of games (and underrated gems) I physically own for the 360 is a reflection of the joy and fun this console brought me. And still does and still will whenever I feel like dusting it off. I have two functional ones and one I've been delaying the repairs of for years.
My fave platform out of all consoles, hands down. Only PC was able to rival its range for me, but I still preferred playing on the X360. There's still a gazillion games I haven't purchased/played on it and this video alone makes me want to go buy some.
Seeing Sleeping Dogs, Fable and Life Is Strange (3 of my all time faves) on here gives me a weird sense of comfort 🥰
Many of my most loved games/franchises in your scrolling! AC, Ghost Recon, L.A. Noire, Alan Wake, Raving Rabbids, Hitman, Fable, Tomb Raider, Rock Band (still have my drumkit haha), Silent Hill, Splinter Cell, THPS, Watchdogs, Xcom...
Man, watching this video brought a stupid smile to my face 😊
I miss this era of gaming so much. I can't find the proper words to describe how empty it feels now...
Gotham City Imposters servers are still online.. I sat in an empty pre game lobby the other day, the game is playable, just dead. People have uploaded gameplay a few months ago on Xbox. On PC it got delisted on Steam but never shut down, as far as I know you still can play the game on all platforms.
You just need to gather people, which pretty much requires finding people elsewhere online and planning a time. Great game though.
@@gk3coloursred Yeah a lot of games have dedicated communities to play with, like people with modded Xboxs host servers on OG Halo games whic requires a dedicated group of players to play at a certain time.
I have a lot of fond memories of playing the Xbox 360. I remember looking up which original Xbox game was compatible with the Xbox 360 and buying the games that worked. I recall playing them on the Xbox 360 and being amazed by the upscaled visuals. I rebought many of my favorite games for the original Xbox just so I could replay them with the upscaled graphics.
I also bought so many DLC and Arcade games from the Xbox store. I remember being so excited and blown away playing the DLC for Star the Force Unleashed 1 and 2, Battle for Middle-Earth, Sonic Unleashed, and many other games. I remember buying and having great memories playing Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Feeding Frenzy, Geometry Wars, Sonic the Hedgehog Episodes 1 and 2, Pac-Man, and Vigilante 8 Arcade (my father's favorite). My father and I would play Villgilante 8 Arcade for hours, and we still do! And of course, I loved playing the Halo games for that generation; it was the first time I got into Halo.
I even played quirky Kinect games with my family, especially Kinect Star Wars. I still play the Rancor mini-games often for my exercise, lol! I still have my R2-D2 Xbox 360, which I play often.
Yeah, I have a lot of fond memories with the Xbox 360, and it's sad to see the store finally closing. It was a great era of gaming.
I recommend Space Channel 5 pt. 2 for anyone that likes music/rhythm games! Don’t miss out on a Sega classic!
Not backwards compatible also.
The current sale is for non backwards compatible games. Anything that can be played on Xbox One will be purchasable after the shutdown.
The price reduction is permanent, not a sale. 💚
You missed most of the games that has been price reduced.
So nostalgic. Wasn't even born for the release of the Xbox 360 but I played it all the way up until like 2014-2015 when I got my xbox one. I would play so many demos on the 360.
This is the most Sunday Spawnwave video ever
My 2 main Xbox 360s are modded, filled with games, emulators and XBLA games. I still have my original console from 2009 which was a replacement from the 2007 Console that red-ringed, which I got at Target. That generation lasted 8 years before the PS4 was released. 2005-2013.
How much u want for 1
This feels so nostalgic I hope they bring back the avatar system that was cool and the ui system for the Xbox handheld because I think that would be cool for a sick ui system for the Xbox handheld
4 weeks later and I'm just finding out about the 360 store closing down. Wow. The stores closing on the Wii, Wii U and 3DS were covered so much by multiple creators moaning about Nintendo, yet hardly anyone is making a fuss over the 360 store.
Thanks for reminding me of this. It is sad to say but this could be the Xbox generation we could be doing this with. Nice video.
Thanks now I feel sad AND old 😅😢
The only games you would need are a pick out of the ones not available for the series X, to mind I think a few are bullet witch, lollipop chainsaw, Remember me, Messiah Kingdom something. There is probably a few more. Why do you guys think they are phasing the 360 out?
tornado outbreak goes for 150 on ebay and much cheaper on marketplace
The end of an era. My bridging and port forwarding days on Halo will forever be remembered
25:43 I wonder if Microsoft knew that a fair amount of Kinect sales was for non-gaming purposes. It turned out to be cheap camera to use in student projects. I remember seeing a bunch in university labs.
The depth camera was used for measuring topography on scale models.
26:42 RIP James McCaffery(Max Payne) we all miss you Fam
If you go to genre there's an option that pops up for both on demand and arcade called classics and for on demand it amounts to some original xbox games!
What games (if any) are y’all picking up on the Xbox 360 store before it closes?
Stuff not available on xbox one
What your not realizing is your getting a chance to buy games that’s being overpriced on ebay now is your chance to buy those games before it’s to late I say $1.00 Vs the price $80 makes a huge difference when the store closes you can then show the scalpers on what pictures of the games you bought they aren’t needed they got screwed I’m enjoying buying games for $1,00
I wish they still let people buy stuff in the original avatar shop on other Xbox consoles
19:57 Mirror's Edge!! Xbox gamers got my respect. Really wish they'd port the original ME to modern consoles
8:38 those were themes by the way
I moved on to PC gaming around 2005. My nostalgia stopped around Xbox/PS2/Gamecube, so having the following gen shutdown makes me feel really old. EDIT: Kept watching - Hard Corps: Uprising is a Contra game made by Arc System Works. At least the Switch should get a port of that ASAP.
Rest In Peace...The Best Era.
GOTHAM city imposters is still playable on 360 at certain hours
Tried making some purchases today on those cheap games, but kept getting an error when adding a payment method.
Thanks for the good video John
I Need to know when the Mircosoft closed the Xbox 360 Marketplace place will it effect the Xbox 360 games on the game pass for Xbox One/X/S?
No
Yay, thanks.
this shutting down before a lot of these games have been made backwards compatible on xbone and series x/s is really frustrating
End of an era man 7th generation is the best
The greatest and most important gaming platform, Ever.
The first example of how to properly run multiplayer gaming.
The Xbox 360 =
Forever Greatness 💫🏆
I never thought I'd feel as much nostalgia for my 360 as I feel for the SNES. Damn, I'm old.
Damn man sucks to see my childhood slowly withering away. First, wii and wii u store now 360. This mess scares me for the future of gaming.
This would of been fine if the alternatives didn't suck so much. All the N64 games on NSO are buggy and require a subscription so you can't keep them...
Never had a 360, but understand the sadness. It does make me grateful for my steam library, though. I notice a lot of them are also there.
