Got myself an E system after my back compat PS3 got the YLOD. Feels great playing the system from my childhood once more, and managed to find some sick deals on some 360 and OG Xbox titles!
I bought my 1st 360 in 2008, pretty much for the original Mass Effect and Assassins Creed games. Shocked there were`nt any Gears of War games on your list, 1st one was epic.
Yoo I got the exact same Star Wars edition Xbox with the golden controller. I remember getting it used in December 2018 from GameStop and was lucky that it came with a C-3PO gold controller. It’s a great console and my childhood. Xbox was at its peak during this generation especially when slim models came out.
I bought a 360 E model and I've read that it has built in Wi-Fi. I guess they missed it on mine. Mine will not connect to the internet at all. Won't even give the option to input my ip address manually. All it says is: unable to connect to wi-fi, use the Xbox network adapter to connect to wi-fi. So now I have to spent $20-30 on a network adapter.
@PP7Silenced I bought it from ebay so I knew there'd be some hang up, lol. It works flawlessly considering. I did go out and bought a cat-6 cable and ran it from my router to my 360. Works and connects online just fine. 👍
Got mine earlier this new year…just randomly thought which system did i enjoy and spend time the most and it was the 360…so i ended up buying an OG xbox and the 360…
Now is the time! Got me a Halo 4 - gears 3 and MW3 Xbox slim all practically new, no boxes sadly but! Still they are beautiful. I just Need the Star Wars edition
Bought this very model a Xbox 360 last week with a bunch of games and am loving it. With the horrid state of modern Gaming right now I don't understand why anyone wouldn't go Retro.
Just today I got on the 360 to download a bunch of free add-ons, free themes, and old trailers. From what I got. The best were: - blue dragon extra hard mode. - Fable 1 theme /fable 1 anniversary theme. - Infinite Undiscovery item vouchers. - fable 2 variety dog pack. - other free fable items and packs. - fable 2 and 3 extra quests and explorable areas. - final fantasy 13 lightning and snow themes. - star ocean the last hope trailers. - infinite Undiscovery trailer. - fable 2 and 3 trailers. I don't normally download any trailers, but they were fun to watch, and it'll be even more fun to see them a decade or two from now. Everything was free on the list. Just wanted to get some stuff before the servers are officially taken down at the end of July. I just got a 360 last summer, but still glad I made it before the store is gone forever.
Definitely wanna grab a 360 before the year is over but I want the older version so I can play the games that are on my hard drive I also bought The Saboteur and I've been dying to play it for the first time
I know everyone loved the Blades UI, but that "New Xbox Experience" ui was perfection to me. Every update after was such a downgrade. Especially when they went towards that "Metro" UI during the era of Windows 8 and Windows Phone
Still have my model s as they were going out of stock then went on a ~7 yrs gaming hiatus. So I have some catching up I'd like to do, but the problem now is finding the games that interest me for a reasonable price.
After some time thinking about it I finally brought out my 360 S sitting in storage. Took it apart and cleaned it. Wasn’t too dusty, but the thermal paste definitely needed replacing. I cleaned the power brick, too. Runs like new and quiet. I have 4 OG 360 controllers and an extra Xbox for parts so I’m kinda set. Started playing all my games and old saves hell it’s nice taking a break from current Gen. Soon I wanna acquire OG Xbox games that are backwards compatible and other 360 titles. Can’t go wrong with the 360 imo so yeah I think it’s worth it. 👍🏽
When does the digital store shut down? I don’t think you mentioned the date. Great video by the way. My physical game collecting is on pause to free up fund for my other hobbies, but I’ll resume eventually. Keep the 360 videos coming! Metal Jesus stopped doing collection videos quite some time ago. So another channel picking up the mantel would be great.
I recently dusted off my xbox 360, and picked up a few of my old collection. Starting off with the Wolverine game from 09, then going for The saboteur. I need a break from modern gaming
Matty I'm so glad you mentioned Overlord, that game is awesome! Really great humor and fun gameplay that is a bit clunky at times but for sure worth playing, I still have my OG copy from several years ago. Keep up the good work man 🤙
I actually managed only a few weeks back to get hold of a 360s halo 4 edition which is what I originally had years ago. So yea… I got my 360 back and I’m chuffed
if you plan on getting a 360 make sure its not an early model because they will get red ring of death. (i know because i sent mine about 4-5 times to get fixed back then). Now i have the xbox 360 slim e model and it seems to work fine.
I have a PS3 and been collecting that, but I don't have a 360. I have a Series X so I'll just play the backwards compatibles games. A tough decision sure, but I'm not made of money.
Depending on where you live, 360 is pretty affordable. I have PS3,PS5 and PS Vita, and got 360 recently and I don't regret it. Slim versions usually go for 40-70 dollars or euros, depending on listing.
I finally decided to get a RGH Xbox 360. Was able to get damn near every Xbox live Arcade game. SOME original Xbox games working, and a program to dump your 360 discs on it. There is even a program out there to let you transfer save files to different profiles so you can get back to where you left off. If anything RGH your Xbox or go buy one so you can still have the original.
I’d say all of you should either mod your console or use a send in service. 360’s are probably only are going to go up in price dramatically especially modded consoles
(wrote this before watching the vid, a few of these got recommended in the video!) I have a pretty vast 360 library. 200+ digital games, 78 physical games and 300+ demos and trials. My recommendations would be: Digital: Blade Kitten, Battleblock Theater, Charlie Murder, Dungeon Defenders, Fez, Super Meat Boy, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (or just go Xbox One, which has a physical release), The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai Physical: X-Blades, Tekken: Tag Tournament 2, Catherine, SSX, The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, Soul Calibur V, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, Naruto: The Broken Bond, Plants VS. Zombies (physical includes Peggle and Zuma. I like Peggle a lot, Zuma confused me), Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, Alice: Madness Returns, Fairytale Fights I haven't played every game I own, far from it. Many of my titles I got digitally were from years of Gold. Games I haven't tried yet but want to try out soon (they look REALLY good) Digital: Anna, Alien Spidy, Strider, Nights Into Dreams Physical: Magna Carta 2, Wet, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL Lastly, a few honorable mentions: The Sims 3, Rayman Legends (Xbox One is also an option), Naruto: Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja: Storm 3 (wayyy better than 4, longer adventure mode by far), Child of Eden, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Lollipop Chainsaw
The S is the one to get. It's more reliable and looks better than the others. I still have mine (plus a couple of Pro's, one works, one doesn't). With the Pro models I had more trouble with the disc drives dying than I did RRoD. Never had an issue with an S model.
I love how Matty is familiar with all these obscure games like Army Corps of Hell, Operation Darkness, Project Sylpheed, Ninety Nine Nights, etc. that I thought only I remembered lol. And then the Persona 5 Tactica music playing in the background is the cherry on top.
Just got one yesterday for 65 bucks pretty excited to get some new Xbox games. I was always a PlayStation guy, but I do want to have 360 i got the E model and skate 3
"You can get a pro for around 100 bucks" depends on the location and the amount of time you spend browsing local marketplace. I got my boxed mw2 xbox 360 for 50 bucks
Had my broken original non-HDMI system with its original box and accessories in a closet. Picked up a loose console in good shape with HDMI for $8 at goodwill the other day, so now I’m going through the library again.
One of the few reasons I started collecting for the 360 a couple years ago was because the games were cheap. I get the digital store shutting down sucks but I bet nobody was buying from it a year or two ago because games were full price and cheaper physically. Now it’s going to be an excuse for resellers to jack up prices.
My "daily driver" is a blue 360e. Also currently have a Halo 4 360s. Theough the years I've bought and sold about half a dozen of 360 consoles. Recently got back to playing Test Drive Unlimited other favourites are Burnout Revenge, the Bioshock series and Beautiful Katamari
Surprisingly I have actually kept up with my Xbox 360 from whenever I was a teenager. Not the first gen but the Xbox 360 S with the gloss case. I ended up getting for my birthday because the first one Red Ringed. It does need some love. It needs a new fan because the fan doesn't cool the system as well as it used to and I have taken it apart already to clean it up and change the thermal compound but in the process of doing that I ripped the ribbon cable that lets you do the touch power button but other than that it's been a solid system and I still use it from time to time. Mostly for my random wants to play guitar hero lol.
The Xbox 360 has one of the best libraries worth of games (exclusive and multi-plat games) and I've been a proud 360 user since 2007 when I first got the 20gb pro model and I'm currently using the S model manufactured in early 2011 since my OG 360 succumbed to the red ring of death (RROD). As far as I understand, many people purchasing the 360 are concerned about picking up a sturdy and reliable model that will last long term. Here's my advice for picking up the most reliable model: 1. If the model you're looking at is the original model manufactured from 2005 to 2007 with any of the following motherboards: Xenon, Zephyr, Opus, and Falcon, avoid it at all costs. Xenon models from 2005 to early 2007 are infamous RROD ticking time bomb machines because they come with atrocious CPU capacitors, atrocious DVD drives, and an unreliable GPU with atrocious underfill. Zephyrs introduced in early 2007 are nothing but Xenons that come with HDMI and still use the awful GPU underfill Xenons have. Early Falcon models from late 2007 contain a revised CPU but still use awful heatsinks that made Zephyr models unreliable and Opus models are early Falcon models without HDMI. 2. Be careful about picking up Falcon models from 2008 as well. Later Falcon models from 2008 use an improved GPU underfill for better reliability than Xenon, Zephyr, Opus, and Early Falcon models but recently, I'm seeing more Falcon models from 2008 succumb to the RROD 3. If you want the original model, hunt down ones manufactured from 2009 to 2010 since they use the Jasper motherboard, which is arguably one of the most reliable motherboards with significantly improved heatsinks and GPU underfill to enhance the reliability of the console itself. Jasper models use the least amount of power of all original 360 models. 4. When shopping for S models, try to hunt down the early S models manufactured form 2010 to July 2011. These use the Trinity motherboard, which combine the CPU and GPU in one chip and use the reliable flash chip from the historically reliable Jasper models. 5. If the S model you're looking at is manufactured from August 2011 to 2013, keep these details in mind before making a purchase. S models from August 2011 to 2013 use the Corona motherboard that's less reliable than Jasper and Trinity motherboards. Later S models with the Corona motherboard manufactured from 2012 to 2013 contain the less reliable 4GB NAND flash chip (main point of failure, opening the door to hardware problems on S models). Earlier S models with the Corona motherboard manufactured in 2011 use the more reliable 16 MB NAND flash chip 6. When looking at E models from 2013 to 2016, carefully think first before purchasing them. Xbox 360 E models are significantly reliable in comparison to early original models but E models are quite known for its cheap build quality that weakens reliability to a degree and I've witnessed a handful of E models succumbing to the RROD due to XCGPU failures. Microsoft's only rationale behind the E model was to sell even cheaper models to rack up last ditch profits before the conclusion of the 360 lifespan.
Plastic instruments required but I still occasionally play DJ Hero 2 and Lego Rock Band on my Xbox 360, along with Rock Band Blitz (which uses a normal controller), as none of those work through back compat.
Just picked up blue dragon last week for the 360. Some earlier work from akira toriyama. After he passed, the game went up in price but managed to get one for a good deal. So had to grab
My 360 died and I gave my collection to my young brother. I bought another one in 2024 with more than 60 games for 300$ CAD. It's valued at 1000$ CAD now. I acted fast on some games like N3 II.
I loved how playful and social Xbox 360 was. It was a lot like adult Nintendo. The star wars one with the golden c-3po controller and modern warfare 3 console with the killstreak sounds were my favorites.
One thing I discovered is some more modern wifi channels don't support older hardware like the 360 slim but somehow the wifi adapter for the 360 is compatible. Worst case you can just slap that on to get wifi working on a 360 slim even if it looks ridiculous.
The golden era. Even though I'm on PS now this was a pinnacle time in my gaming history. My first foray in online gaming, gears, cod 4 and Halo 3 were and still are top tier.
I picked up the CallofDuty MW2 limited edition console a couple of years ago(my favorite)and the last version of the xbox 360E blue colored model. Before this, I always had Playstation since PS1. I did miss out on Halo and Gears.
I would recommend picking up the Mercenaries games for Xbox 360. Specifically Mercenaries 2 since it is not available for backwards compatibility on the new Xbox's. Those were some of my all-time favorite Xbox 360 games and nothing comes close to it except for the Just Cause games.

All the sounds between the achievement ding and menu dashboard hit the nostalgia feels hard
I totally forgot about Overlord. That was really cool at the time. Basically Pikmin for Xbox
I bought a 360 earlier this year! No regrets, been playing it a ton. Such an amazing library of games!
Worth it?

XBox 360 is the GOAT. That era of gaming is unmatched. So fun
Some fo my recommendations to keep an eye on.
-The curse crusader
-Magna Carta 2
-Divinity 2: The dragon Knight saga
-Divinity 2:Ego Draconics
-Blur
-Enchates Arms
-Tenchu Z
Got myself an E system after my back compat PS3 got the YLOD. Feels great playing the system from my childhood once more, and managed to find some sick deals on some 360 and OG Xbox titles!
I bought my 1st 360 in 2008, pretty much for the original Mass Effect and Assassins Creed games. Shocked there were`nt any Gears of War games on your list, 1st one was epic.
I’m in Sweden and a used 360 S goes for like 30-50$ and a regular one (the one I plan to buy) costs like 20$.
Man, I'm glad I started collecting 360 games around 2019. So many games have ridiculous prices now and In bad shape.
That is very strange for the X360 E. Makes me wonder if it wasn't tampered with.
I just
Need the Star Wars edition
Bought this very model a Xbox 360 last week with a bunch of games and am loving it. With the horrid state of modern Gaming right now I don't understand why anyone wouldn't go Retro.
Did you buy the Xbox 360 slim renewed?
I have my slim model since 2009, still working and playing on it. I love it❤
Matty, I love this channel. Keep it up!
Got my Xbox 360 s for 80$ and some change at a local game store. Great purchase and would recommend
Just today I got on the 360 to download a bunch of free add-ons, free themes, and old trailers. From what I got. The best were:
- blue dragon extra hard mode.
Man that black 360 is one of the best looking consoles 😍
I recommend getting a rgh or a jtag
Definitely wanna grab a 360 before the year is over but I want the older version so I can play the games that are on my hard drive I also bought The Saboteur and I've been dying to play it for the first time
I know everyone loved the Blades UI, but that "New Xbox Experience" ui was perfection to me. Every update after was such a downgrade. Especially when they went towards that "Metro" UI during the era of Windows 8 and Windows Phone
Witcher 2 is best played on Xbox One X or Series X/S. Its enhanced
with better frame rate and resolution.
Some games to pick up would be Splatterhouse, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 or all the WWE games. SVR 2007 and WWE 2K14 are still so good.
Can’t believe Ninety-Nine Nights was on of my favorite games on 360 so happy it made the list
It’s already closed unfortunately
@@tcsutton9121 Darn it :( Thx for the update!
I recently dusted off my xbox 360, and picked up a few of my old collection. Starting off with the Wolverine game from 09, then going for The saboteur. I need a break from modern gaming
im collecting all 360 slim special edition, i just need star wars, gears of war, and halo reach.also 360 is my favorite console
Gears of war was my 360 it was so sleek
Starting my 360 and ps3 collection soon
(wrote this before watching the vid, a few of these got recommended in the video!)
I have a pretty vast 360 library. 200+ digital games, 78 physical games and 300+ demos and trials. My recommendations would be:
Digital:
Blade Kitten, Battleblock Theater, Charlie Murder, Dungeon Defenders, Fez, Super Meat Boy, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (or just go Xbox One, which has a physical release), The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai
Physical:
X-Blades, Tekken: Tag Tournament 2, Catherine, SSX, The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, Soul Calibur V, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, Naruto: The Broken Bond, Plants VS. Zombies (physical includes Peggle and Zuma. I like Peggle a lot, Zuma confused me), Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, Alice: Madness Returns, Fairytale Fights
I haven't played every game I own, far from it. Many of my titles I got digitally were from years of Gold.
Games I haven't tried yet but want to try out soon (they look REALLY good)
Digital:
Anna, Alien Spidy, Strider, Nights Into Dreams
Physical:
Magna Carta 2, Wet, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL
Lastly, a few honorable mentions:
The Sims 3, Rayman Legends (Xbox One is also an option), Naruto: Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja: Storm 3 (wayyy better than 4, longer adventure mode by far), Child of Eden, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Lollipop Chainsaw
The S is the one to get. It's more reliable and looks better than the others. I still have mine (plus a couple of Pro's, one works, one doesn't). With the Pro models I had more trouble with the disc drives dying than I did RRoD. Never had an issue with an S model.
The Witcher 2 is actually backwards compatible on Current Xbox consoles too! Played it a few months ago
I love how Matty is familiar with all these obscure games like Army Corps of Hell, Operation Darkness, Project Sylpheed, Ninety Nine Nights, etc. that I thought only I remembered lol. And then the Persona 5 Tactica music playing in the background is the cherry on top.
This was my brother and I’s childhood 360, we shared it but I got the 3P0 controller 😎
Just got one yesterday for 65 bucks pretty excited to get some new Xbox games. I was always a PlayStation guy, but I do want to have 360 i got the E model and
skate 3
"You can get a pro for around 100 bucks" depends on the location and the amount of time you spend browsing local marketplace.
I got my boxed mw2 xbox 360 for 50 bucks
Still got my 360 elite. Even if I don’t use it anymore it’s pretty enough to be a decoration
I hold to my Xbox 360 since 2007 until now and it is still functional with out any issue and have over 200 physical games in my library 😊
Had my broken original non-HDMI system with its original box and accessories in a closet. Picked up a loose console in good shape with HDMI for $8 at goodwill the other day, so now I’m going through the library again.
So many games going up in price. Glad I got most of them already but still so sad to see my $20 tornado outbreak going for $70 in a few months
One of the few reasons I started collecting for the 360 a couple years ago was because the games were cheap. I get the digital store shutting down sucks but I bet nobody was buying from it a year or two ago because games were full price and cheaper physically. Now it’s going to be an excuse for resellers to jack up prices.
@ThatwasaSTRIKE I'm the one that's been buying. But now it's hard to buy at higher price then I've known it to be
Im a die hard xbox fan..have always had xboxs and thats not gonna change
I grew up Xbox 360 playing black ops 1 & 2 with family members
Lord of the rings battle for middle earth 2 is my favorite game of all time! 😊 (On the 360)
I’m looking for ncaa basketball 2010 any suggestions?
Saboteur would be a cool pick up, as would Table Tennis by Rockstar!
Here's my advice for picking up the most reliable model:
Later Falcon models from 2008 use an improved GPU underfill for better reliability than Xenon, Zephyr, Opus, and Early Falcon models but recently, I'm seeing more Falcon models from 2008 succumb to the RROD
Earlier S models with the Corona motherboard manufactured in 2011 use the more reliable 16 MB NAND flash chip
Love that you mention Ninety-Nine Nights. Bought a 360 a few months ago just to finally beat that game, 17 years later
I have been on a nostalgia binge the last couple of days with the 360 gen and this was EXACTLY what I needed!
Just been on my 360 e 259gb
PGR 4 and 3 ❤❤❤
Still ckass after all those years
What a soundtrack
Karl densons tiny universe 🤟🤟🤟❤️😊
I loved N3 back in the day and would like it to be remastered but don't think that will ever happen 😅
I think people should definitely pick up the Dead Or Alive series. Its amazing
I bought a 360 off a friend who wanted it gone. I have been searching for one game for over 10 years “transformers war for cybertron”.
Wow I completely forgot about the outfit! I rented that at blockbuster hahaha
Getting the S or E models is a good idea for avoiding the Red Ring. I'm not familiar with a way to tell if the original or Elite has had the fix done
The Fable games are also really good on the Xbox 360.
Where the hades mat from?
I had the Xbox 360 Elite and Xbox 360 Slim later on. Still have the slim and love looking back at it
I just fixed up my old busted and dusted Xbox 360s (all I had to do was take it apart and realign the disc tray!) and now I’m playing my old library :) so much fun and so much nostalgia. Good times
Matty are those Naruto games playable on the series x is it backwards compatible
