Nintendo is targeting 12.5M Switch units sold this FY, but if they sell 12.71M units, they will have outsold the Nintendo DS by the end of March. Considering they adjusted down from 13.5M, I think there is a fair chance this happens. Nintendo DS sold about 8M more units after 3DS came to market btw, Switch having a similar fall off would place it's numbers at 162M units by EoL, and would pass the PS2 by holiday 2026, though given that Switch Lite could see a permanent price drop to $169 or even $149 vs what is expected of the Switch 2 at $399, Switch might not drop off nearly as far.
Back in the day you knew the dimensions of the game box and would be so hype to see it under the tree. 😮😅😢 working on collecting as much physical media for my kids
I remember my parents would hide it like the year we got the nes they put it in a soap detergent box or the n64 my brothers and I asked for it and a vcr because we set our basement up to the spot for all the kids in the neighborhood and we opened the last gift and it was a vcr box we were happy but we wanted the n64 a little more, my dad said open it I want to see it and we opened it and the n64 was in the box then we went downstairs and the vcr was already hooked to our tv and that was the first non top loader vcr we had ever seen, man it tears me up just writing this memory. My parents didn’t have a lot of money bet what they did have went to my two older brothers and I.
I still try to hype up some excitement for my kid when it comes to gift giving her a game. luckily I'm somewhat able to salvage a bit of it with ps5 physical or switch physical but I'm not sure how it'll look in the future
So I was right. They straight up lied about the teraflops. It was 13+ TF not 33 TF. Also points out as far as the PS5 is concerned it is the last true generation console that can even be made by Sony. Look. 1. Consoles is meant to be plug and play. Ease of use 2. They are meant to be the affordable option to PC. 3. They are at a point of diminishing returns which means less for more cost. Every Sony console from here on out is a 'pro' not a new console. They can't make any more significant upgrades. Mark my words the PS6 will be a pro version of the PS5 pro. Getting more excited about Nintendo's switch being as potent as the PS4 than the PS6. Suggestion: most console users are used to being behind PC at this point. Do not push out a next gen until an actual improvement is possible. PS5 is the most powerful console out there. Chill. You are there. Let the PS5 be cheaper before bringing out a next gen or people will have less reason to buy 6 than 5 and more to buy the switch 2.
It definitely does make sense to have a more efficient way to handle things like resolution, FPS, etc. Trying to brute force things through more and more higher specs will only lead to a drastically higher console and that will make it impossible sell the console at a loss. RTX 5090 ... Damn. I'm still running on a GTX 720 Ti. 💀
10:00 AMD has offered ray tracing in their cards for 2 generations now, I think that slide is referring to the ps5 pro using the 3rd generation ray tracing hardware which currently isn’t out in any AMD cards
They are going full blitz on the PS5pro performance issue. You can tell they had to talk to Digital Foundry cause every other video has been damage control. If you have to explain your tech after its been in consumers hands for weeks, you may be in trouble.
We all fondly remember those days of video game rental. But what we conveniently don't remember are all those times where the thing you actually wanted wasn't there. Sometimes for months on end. Or those times when out parents didn't want to drive us. Convenience is a powerful thing. There's a reason these thing are pretty much extinct.
Almost like there's actually a good game in there for a lot of people, even if it wasn't exactly what some hoped (and nevermind *those* people). I've had three friends buy it after seeing me stream it over Discord at this point, surprised it wasn't "what the internet said."
A.I scaling and frame amping is the worst thing to happen to video games, as it just destroys gameplay quality (frame-time latency), it causes frame-times to go as high as 90ms+, which is just horrible for input-fidelity, compared to say a Gamecube game that is sub 2ms, which is why these old consoles feel so much better to play games on, I love that about the PS4 Pro, it had a boost mode that did nothing but improve frame-time latency, and as a result offers probably the best gameplay quality out of any of the modern game consoles by miles, the Switch suffers from just generally low FPS, not to mention a poorly optimized OS (E-Shop s so laggy), PS5 Pro has even more latency than the base console, how did they even manage that. All I want is a console that can produce smooth 60 or 120 FPS, with end-to-end sub 4ms latency, and clean presentation (super-sampled ideally), also I'm fine with subpixel-rendering and integer scaling, in fact, I applaud it, a game rendered at 720p or 1080p, and integer scaled at 1440p & 4K respectively, is a great way to achieve low latency and smoother frame-time pacing, even 540p, subpixel rendered at 4K (4X subpixels) looks good.
if PS6 will have physical games it will be the last generation to do so and i would not mind that at all as long as it plays more than 4 generations of Playstation
So they waited until after winning best ongoing game at the game awards to announce this crossover. I suspect they knew some people would have issues with the price. The rating on Steam has dropped since this was announced.
I did skim through the Game Awards because I did not want to watch it live again. The fact that Call of Duty and sports games crap is on top makes me sad instead of all those better games. There's still content for Skull and Bones? They should just abandon it instead of trying to put more money onto it. No wonder they are failing. Saying that Assassin's Creed is in Skull and Bones isn't enough to make me want to play it. I rather play Assassin's Creed 4 instead. Hell Blade 2 didn't have a chance against Astro Bot.
With games taking longer to make and seeing fewer games upgrading hardware is for a few. And for what? Graphics? What about content? No wonder half have not upgraded their PS4 to PS5. Gaming is not worth that extra money, and for how many games. It is smart the next Elden Ring will run on the PS4 and Xbox One. A reason why Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is in the #1 spot (5:00) is because it runs on the PS4 and Xbox One, and likewise with #2 and #3. If the direction of the PS6 is prettier graphics good luck with that. Motion clarity is more important. Display technology is what to look for from CES for that. More 4K OLED's are expected. That means prices for 1440p OLED's will drop even more. Worried about burn-in? (If that is a thing anymore.) Replacing them has a better return than a GPU. It might even be worth using different displays for different content. A 24" for shooters. A widescreen for RPG's. A standard screen for other content.
I'm not rooting for digital games here, but john completely ignores the fact that disc rott exists. just saying i have xbox 360 discs not working anymore but my steam library is still there. there are always two sides of a coin.
Why not let the PS5 Pro speak for itself. Why do we need a 45-minute technical lecture to justify an underwhelming product. If it's underwhelming, lower the price.
Do you realize the message you are sending to these companies? Buy purchasing the PS 5 pro You are telling these companies that you are willing to pay more For something That comes with less And has no definite plans for any kind of special software support. Ridiculous.

This generation in gaming has been the worst to date. With a few hits here and there such as my goty, Astrobot and BG3 before it. After this generation i am done. I will be finding another hobby. These corporations expect u to pay so much for so little. I am DONE with it all. With digital only next gen very highly likely, i am not supporting any of it any longer. After whatever Nintendo has planned for their next physical media generation, i am moving onto other things. Its become too much.
Those new cards seem too much. I will stick with my Shield TV "mini" pc. Every time I even think about a new rig this starts to happen. I may never have one but I am sure they would be fun to look at.
I got a Xbox Series X for $349 last Christmas. I wonder if that has anything to do with their sales being down 30%. Cheaper series x this, year was $399 for a disk less console iirc. Maybe $379.
Idk about everyone else, but the only future console I’m remotely interested in is the Switch 2. Within the past year I’ve pretty much have went all in on PC, mainly because I’ll be able to get Sony and Microsoft games on it. If the PS6 is as good or better than PS5 pro, does that mean it’s gonna cost at minimum $700?
Once the Switch 2 is announced, I expect to see the OG models receive a price cut. Nintendo's smart enough to see how close they are to dominating Sony and should by no means miss an opportunity to cross the finish line. I honestly wish they would have started such a maneuver this year instead, but they don't want to accidentally cook their golden goose.

I figured Ubisoft would shut down Skull and Bones within a year, but then again, they spent a whole decade on development and sunk god knows how much money into it. They're probably desperate to recoup their losses and want to stretch it out as long as they can. XDefiant probably didn't cost them nearly as much to make, so it's probably not that big of a monetary loss.
Ubisoft is lying about adding content to Skull and Bones, they aree just saying they have plans in order to stop Tencent from buying the company, just like how the original creator of Rayman came out and debunked that he was involved in a Rayman remake, Ubisoft owners are just desperate to keep ownership of the company at this point

For me, I tried for a year or two to get the Series X and there simply wasn't any in the stores to get. At this point, I'm just waiting for the next machine as there isn't any price reduction.
Personally, I don't see the advantage of a PS5 Pro or PS6, if a gaming PC can perform better in graphics and even gameplay and emulate games from other systems.
Lmao a lot of people don't care about gaming on an overpriced windows desktop.
@@vandammage1747 I guess thats why people weren't excited about the Pro, huh? 🤡
@vandammage1747 What are you talking about? The PC market is still growing substantially. More and more people are playing on PC, whereas consoles have stagnated. The truth hurts.
@@SalaX13 That's what I've said so many times that gaming PCs outperform what a console can do, the one downside is that they're quite expensive, and you don't have to pay to play against other players online, which is also an advantage.
@@vandammage1747 I think you're in the wrong universe, bud.
I believe there will always be physical media it's just you won't be able to find it in the store you have to get it online right now I'm into vinyl and CDs I can get those online Amazon Walmart not in their stores physically
I truly can’t wait for the day when every video doesn’t center on the switch 2.
This one didn't
I still try to hype up some excitement for my kid when it comes to gift giving her a game. luckily I'm somewhat able to salvage a bit of it with ps5 physical or switch physical but I'm not sure how it'll look in the future
So I was right.
They straight up lied about the teraflops.
It was 13+ TF not 33 TF.
Also points out as far as the PS5 is concerned it is the last true generation console that can even be made by Sony.
Look.
1. Consoles is meant to be plug and play. Ease of use
I’d like to think that physical copies of games will continue to exist so that gifts don’t have to be as you described.
I remember this show and Wild Kratt's is still amazing up to today!
What's John's relationship with RGT85, may I ask?
They're friends that joke around about not getting along.
With things going digital, your Christmas presents will arrive via email saying "Merry Christmas, $100 Amazon Gift Card by loved one!"
I knew the Switch would surpass the PS2 sales in the US before is final year was out. Wow, I should totally be an analyst.
I thought the internet said Veilguard was trash. Why is it in the top 10? Lol
Almost like there's actually a good game in there for a lot of people, even if it wasn't exactly what some hoped (and nevermind *those* people). I've had three friends buy it after seeing me stream it over Discord at this point, surprised it wasn't "what the internet said."
If the future of consoles are digital only and close to, if not $1000, it will be pointless and people might as well go with a PC
They literally are locked in pc's with a consumer badge on it
@@mikeuk666 locked in PC with a yearly sub 😭
You can use a console without the sub right? just use the device for single player games?
i think steam and other stores will implement some type of timelock on gifted items, to be able to time it for a birthday or whatever
I switched from Nintendo switch to ps5, I don’t know how to explain it but I feel like games on ps5 feel fake
20:10 It's like we don't need "stuff" anymore...
Yeah I want the same. Graphic fidelity overemphasis is ruining gameplay feel.
I agree.
This AI bullshit is not enabling anything but laziness and bad development practices.
Really enjoyed Hellblade II but it's definitely not for everyone, and it's hard to call it game of the year. Astrobot really deserves that spot!
if PS6 will have physical games it will be the last generation to do so and i would not mind that at all as long as it plays more than 4 generations of Playstation
So they waited until after winning best ongoing game at the game awards to announce this crossover. I suspect they knew some people would have issues with the price. The rating on Steam has dropped since this was announced.
They've now made the 2nd part free in response.
You said that amd doesn't offer raytracing on current cards and is apart of the road map? They have since the 6000 series 4 years ago.
Remember the console teraflop days? Fun times. lol
Lost aside was heavy inspired by FF VERSE XIII aka FFXV
Astro Bot was a GOTY contender for people who didn't get through Mario Odyssey or Kirby Forgotten Land
or never played a Lego game
hi Spawn Wave
Superbowl has watch parties. one view that is counted could be 40 people at a party. Or 200 people at a BWW.
Sony readying the PS2 Classic any day now
Can't wait to hear PS2 sold more again. I'd feel like a moron if I were anyone from Sony still comming up with these.
What are you on about?
Ridiculous.
I mean as opposed to now, where you open a DVD sized box to get a code to download a game... I take your point though I mean my 13 year old has only heard vague legends and rumors, of a fabled place called ToysRus.
I have purchases base model, a 2nd one later on, Monster Hunter edition Switch, the Red Mario Edition Switch, LoZ Oled model, 4 Animal Crossing lites. The LoZ lite model
So I have purchased 9 Nintendo switches. There are 4 in my home, I gifted all others out, & gifted one refurbished, but that doesn't count as a sale.
I have bought about that many myself lol😅
And waitinfg 3 hours for the game to download...
Nintendo. Switch. Just. Hit. A. Huge. Milestone. And. Sony. Talks. Future. Of. Playstation. News. Wave
Yeah... I don't wanna think of the future of my kids or grandchildren getting the same amount of hype opening up a box with a $60 gift card instead of a physical..... thing😩.
I'd rather offline myself then live in that hellish nightmare.
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite & Beyond mod releases tomorrow.
Mark Cerny looks like you bought a Dana Carvey off of Temu! 😅
I'm glad there are always people willing to spend a lot of money on the newest, latest and greatest gpus. 400-500 is my cut-off. I'll gladly rock a second hand, generation or two old gpu for less than half the $. Still mostly just play BFV anyway lol.
I would have thought the south American market would be Nintendo's biggest hurdle to overcome Sony.
$6 for Skull and Bones or $6 for a McRib? I’ll take the McRib
Skull and Bones was funded by the government of Singapore. Ubisoft has to keep the game afloat or pay back the money.
@@twistedgaming9185 oh yeah, I forgot about the whole Singapore thing. Bet they won't make that mistake again.
I don’t see anything in your cards at the end of the video
Who will go to dig out Skull and Bones scammy AAAA disastrous flop.
Na
Ubisoft is lying about adding content to Skull and Bones, they aree just saying they have plans in order to stop Tencent from buying the company, just like how the original creator of Rayman came out and debunked that he was involved in a Rayman remake, Ubisoft owners are just desperate to keep ownership of the company at this point
When Nintendo launch a new console you get to see the actual graphical capabilities on day one. Sony & Microsoft just tease what might be to come.
If Sony can get $700 for the PS5 Pro in the USA ( $1199 here in Australia ) you can bet that the PS6 will be more then $700 easy dude. Sony is all about getting that money man.
Show me a business that isn't, and il show you a bankrupt business.
I guess im lucky we still have a jumbo video lol with popcorn 🍿 😅 and we can remt anything that comes out and they have alot of games plus alot of obscure ones that youve never seen
Its also an old microplay so u have old retro studf there too from atari to ps5 they have it all
Awesome store
